I had known about this for years, but this was the first time that “I visited this place.”
I knew that it was buried deep in the valley, with a long convoluted one lane poorly maintained road with cars traveling in both directions, as well as large work vehicles.... that was so true- one would never find this isolated and dilapidated memorial location without Waze (I should have taken a photo of the car’s Waze screen when I was there- that works have been “helpful”).
It has a nice view to the south (of the main highway); no real view to the north, except that it is almost directly under the bridge of the new high speed red double decker train from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. As a train enthusiast (that is listed on my TripAdvisor member profile), I found that to be exciting and exhilarating, and I took many “helpful” photos, which I have already posted.
I will say that of course very few people were there.
I will also add that there are two major extensive and elaborate childrens playgrounds that are passed on the way to the monument- good places to stop if there are little ones in the group.
Hey- let’s clean this place (that’s what my two little boys tried to do- see my “helpful” photos). Who is in charge of maintenance here?

We came by car and managed the long, narrow, winding road to reach our destination. It was well worth it, as this is a very special and meaningful memorial in a most scenic and beautiful setting. There is also a lovely picnic area right nearby, with plenty of parking.

I confess my ignorance. I had no idea that this memorial - an Israel/US joint effort - existed.
Build as a commemorative to those who died on 9/11, it contains all 3,000+ names in a circular wall around the main feature - a large United States flag, made of concrete and metal (including a piece from the World Trade Center) furled into the shape of a flame.
Our tour guide brought us there - to the top of an out-of-the-way mountain - at dusk.
We stood in the gathering darkness and remembered.
It is difficult to get to, and is not included on any tours that we saw, but it is worthwhile.

Having seen this monument in a picture, we were disappointed in the small size and difficult road to travel. It was worth the time, but it would be difficult for a full size bus.

Tucked away under the new high speed rail bridge on the approaches to Jerusalem is this beautifully designed memorial to the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the USA.
Recently a small memorial was added for those Jews murdered while at prayer in the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pennsylvania.
It is not straightforward to find the place: Google Maps gave incorrect directions but WAZE led the way correctly.

This is a very beautiful and very moving memorial. It is off the beaten path but worth visiting. However, if you take a taxi to get there, it's a good idea to have it wait for you.

The monument is a moving memorial to those lost in the terrorist attacks. Enclosed within the central monument which is a stylized flag of the US is part of a steel girder from one of the buildings. There is a curved wall on one side that bares metal plates embossed with the names of all that died on that day. The monument was not easily found (don't trust your GPS), but was well worth the time and effort.

Hidden away, off the beaten track, in a valley outside the city and hardly accessible to regular cars is this impressive monument. We found it by accident while looking for a different site. A pity it is located in such an isolated albeit beautiful park.

I’m not sure I can say I enjoyed this aspect of our holiday but we can acknowledge the wonderful job they have done to preserve and respect the memory of those lost to this tragic event.
This impressive memorial is a credit to all involved and a visit allows a moment to reflect on the significance of the location and history.

Are there hiking trails in the forest? We prefer loop trails starting and ending in the parking lot.
I understand that there are picnic tables- is there shade? I cannot find these answers on JNF website.
Also- the map on TripAdvisor lists this location as in Bet HaKetem neighborhood (I know that Waze gives proper directions).
Thanks.

This site is unmanned as far as I could see. It is rather remote - not easy to find. I think you could go anytime during daylight.
