I was not aware until my third trip to Tel Aviv that this amazing city have yet another jem, a Bauhaus neigbourhood with around 400 houses, which are now UNESCO heritage! I will have to explore the place more, but I liked what i see!the concept of this unique architectural style is so delicate to the eye, i thing some of the buildinggs need restauration, but nevertheless one can appreciate this beautiful part of Tel Aviv

Municipality Free Walking Tour of the "White City" Tel Aviv
This tour is advertised to start at 46, Rothschild Street (a white eclectic style house situated on a corner) at 11am on a Saturday morning. However, we waited till 11.30am for the guide (along with approximately 20 other people). It turns out that the tour now starts at number 11, Rothschild Street, so do be mindful of this change, when taking the tour. Our guide Shaloma (sp?) was lovely and informative and it was a pleasure to spend time with her, learning about the history of Tel Aviv and why these buildings were constructed, despite the rain.
Yes, some of the buildings are run down due to them now being listed with strict guidelines as to what improvements people can make to them, so that they are in keeping with their design time period. There is a great solution to build on top! We gave Shaloma a tip, to thank her for her time, but that's up to you. This was a pleasant experience, once we had got over the insecurity of not knowing if there would be a tour after waiting till 11.30am. One woman was really angry about the location mix up and gave Shaloma a piece of her mind, but it all settled down amicably in the end.

Bauhaus was design school that flourished in Germany in the between the wars. When the Nazis expelled most German Jews, they took Bauhaus architecture with them to Tel Aviv. Tel Aviv's Bauhaus buildings now have a UNESCO heritage listing. Israel's climatic extremes have not been kind; most Bauhaus structures date back to the 1930s. The best way to explore Tel Aviv's Bauhaus legacy is to take a walk down Rothschild Boulevard.

This is a UNESCO WH site which is just mildly overall interesting. The architecture of the Bauhaus movement certainly offers an occasional eye-catching building, but on balance it may appear as neglected or even dilapidated. Since the White City loosely covers many central areas of Tel Aviv, you may not miss it anyway if you find yourself around Dizengoff Square or walk along Rothschild Blvd.

I didn't think the buildings in Tel Aviv were particularly special, many of them were run down. Many need bulldozing.

There's so much history in this city that is mind boggling, so much to see and do that you would need a lifetime to fully comprehend, it's amazing how much you learn about human kind in such a relatively small place.
A visit you don't want to miss on this side of the world.

A garden city was first discussed around 1903 and resulted in 4000 buildings built in a unique style in the 1930 s .
There is a house turned into a museum which is worth a look or not as the case may be.
