We booked with Luxury Adventures, though in reality a multitude of travel agents all farm their guests to the same place in the desert, a place sufficiently tacky to look (think neon signage) and feel (constant pressure from sellers) like a market.
Our trip included the same parts as many others:
Sand bashing = 5-10 mins in a 4 x 4 being driven over dunes, which was good fun.
Camel rising = 0.5 - 1 minute sat on top of a camel
Sand boarding = "looks like someone has taken the board, so you can't do that"
Watching sunset = the desert was strewn with litter, and the expected peace and quiet replaced by the sounds of quad bikes and 4 x 4s.
BBQ = 1 meat kebab and some salad, served in a dirty canteen. Lovely.
Water and soft drinks package = small cartons of water available throughout, and a cup of soft drink at 7pm.
Evening entertainment = 2 x belly dancers, which feels especially out of place in a culture that demands conservative female dressing, plus a guy who plays with fire.
Private driver = a polite driver who struggled with Google maps, but got us there and back, eventually.

I just got back from an incredible desert tour with Desert Gate Tourism in Abu Dhabi and led by Desert Cowboy, Kevin. Truthfully, I was not expecting the excitement of a wunderous and skillfully maneouvered drive through soft sand dunes--a real desert safari ! I felt that the car was the best roller coaster I'd ever been on-- as we winded up and down the soft golden sand dunes that rose above us on all sides. We visited camel farms, and further out in the desert to a comfortable campsite with outdoor stage for theatrical and musical performances. A falcon expert introduced one of his birds and then, showed us how the pair--human and bird have a symbiotic relationship built over their shared love for hunting birds. A 4000 year old tradition. The campsite provided heaps of traditional foods like Shwarma BBQ ,and, Middle Eastern music and dancing!!!! I also received a beautiful design on my wrist in henna! (optional) I met lovely people from all over the word as well. We had a great laugh at each other trying to imitate the exquisite belly dancer! The amazing driver and Guide was knowledgeable about his passion, dune driving as well as was a kind and positive person! Do not miss this opportunity!

260 Dirham for twopays for pick up return and a series of desert themed activities near the border with Oman.
Dune bashing in 4 × 4 followed by sample of camel riding. Dinner and soft drinks followed by tribal themed dancing and belly dancing. You can pay fof extras like quad bike or VIP waiter service and best seats.
Yes it is very touristy at times but the personal pick up from home or hotel and all the experiences make for remarkable value. Expect hanger on trades people hawking photo and other extras.

Excelente experiencia, el desierto es imponente !!! Atardeceres impresionantes y una cena con show muy entretenidos. Lo único malo es la excesiva carga de trabajo de los pobres camellos 😢

Great fun driving on the Dunes, punctual, food ok, amazing views, no complaints.

We were picked up from the hotel. Good timing and organization. Safe and adventurous dune bashing. Camels, sand boarding loved by children. Evening meal with dance and other activities easily accessible. Good feeling to be treated like this.

Great tour. My teen loved the sand surfing. Exciting dune 4x4 ride. Fun!
Pleasant short camel ride. They were vert well treated. My fav animal.

Hi, We are planning to visit Abudhabi on 29th and 30 Dec. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children (13 and 8). We are interested in Desert safari and we are very interested in mid night star gazing in pitch darkness. I read some where that it is part of the package. Can this be arranged?

Yes, you can get a safari package from any tour operator (Emirates Desert Safari, Net.tour, etc...) it's a very beautiful experience!

Hello, We are a family of two adults and five children.
We will have our suitcases with us. Will we be able to bring them if we book this desert safari? If not, do I have to rent a private car myself? Are there additional fees for that?
We are thinking to book next week sometime between 23rd ish to 26th ish. Exact times are not confirmed until I can figure out what to do with my luggage :)

We would like to know the children age. A Land cruiser is normally accommodated with 6 persons and if there are more children in group, can accommodate 7 persons. In that car, there won't be space for luggage unless it's hand bags which can be kept under leg.
Next option is booking two private cars and you will get space for putting luggage if it's not plenty as there will be 12 seats total and 5 seats will be vacant enough to put luggages.
Sharing car, evening desert safari cost for adult are AED 250 and children upto 12 years who require seats AED 200. If opting for priavte, 1 to 4 persons car will cost AED 1200.
Please advice.

Hey there.. I done desert safari with my wife last year through TripAdvisor. When I search, I am confused now as 4 pages coming with similar name. We did with a company called "Nuzhath Ideas" as I remember. But lost contact details as that was last minute phone arrangement. We want to have same quality service that we enjoyed a lot. Now we are coming on Decmber with 14 Adults, 8 Children and 2 babies. Are you the same company? If Yes, Would like to know cost now for evening option that we did before. Hello,
We are interested in a 6 person half day desert safari. We are two adults, two children 6 and 8 and two grandparents in their 60s. Ideally this would be Thursday (tomorrow) or Friday afternoon. We are at the Staybridge Suites on Yas Island.
We would like to try the dune bashing but are concerned that it might be either too much for the kids or too much for the grandparents! And I would like to know what we can do if this is the case? We would need a good English speaker and someone who is empathetic to these situations.
Could you please advise the cost and availability for this?

Children are always doing dune bashing and they enjoy it. Even infant's attend safari always at evening. For 60 plus aged, if there is some cardiac problems or back problems, it's not advisable. In such case's, as you have 6 persons you can drop them at camp and go for dune bashing as car is private. AED 250 per adult and AED 200 for child is the cost.

I will be travelling to Abu Dhabi in June and would love to do one of your evening safari tours... I'm wondering if you do hotel pick up from Yas Island and also what you suggest doing with luggage... I will have a large suitcase with me as UAE is a stop over for me on my way to the other side of the world.

Yes. We do pick up and drop off by land cruiser from any famous place that you choose at Abu Dhabi which includes hotels at YAS Island
For you, at evening five options below we suggest
1. Regular Evening desert safari with 45 minutes dune bashing 15:00 pm to 21:00pm Sharing basis
2. Evening safari with 90minutes
dune bashing – Private car 14:00 pm to 21:00pm
3. Afternoon Dunebashing only – 45
minutes – Private car 15:00 pm to 18:00pm (2pm pick up is possible)
4. Afternoon Dunebashing only – 90
minutes – Private car 14:00 pm to 18:00pm
5. Dinner only (No dune bashing) 16:00 pm to 21:00pm
How many persons are there? Are you single or group? As you are having luggage (large suitcase), private car is the option that you can take. All the 4 above packages can be done on private basis. To confirm that, we need to know number of persons in your group.
