Im Rahmen unserer Südpazifik-Rundreise besuchten wir das Ekasup Village. Es war sehr interessant weil uns viel erklärt wurde, es wurde auch getanzt und die Fotografin in mir kam nicht zu kurz.

Had a great time at Ekasup Village. I have been to Port Vila many times but had never been here as I was expecting the usual tacky tourist trap type of place.
However, my wife and I were here this time with her parents and we thought that they would enjoy it so we took them never expecting to enjoy it ourselves. However, we were pleasantly surprised.
Our tour guide, C4 (not spelt correctly but he did say it was pronounced like the explosive :-) ) was fantastic. A great command of the English language and a very funny speaker. He made the visit very enjoyable.
More than that though, while the village itself is an actual 500 strong village with modern facilities like a church and a school etc. the area where they do the tour is set out in the style of before European arrival and some of the villagers dress up and act out the life of a villager in those times. For example, they ambushed us from the jungle with traditional weapons before the chief welcomes us into the village and we then learnt about traditional hunting, cooking and handicraft as well as general village life.
It certainly was well worth the price of admission. We learnt a bit and had fun doing it.
Would take others there again who hadn’t been to Vanuatu before as a great way to learn about their culture.

Een leuk bezoek met veel informatie over de cultuur van de oorspronkelijke bewoners, de gids was enthousiast, vertelde leuke verhalen, we hadden echt een goede interactie.

After reading review on Ekasup Village, we decided to visit. Upon arrival we were greeted by a young man blowing the shell horn. The we were taken through a little rainforest to an amphitheater where we met our tour guide. He took us on the tour of his village and explained the way of living, fishing, local medicines etc.. They also performed a couple of dong using their local made musical instruments which consists of glass bottles, bamboo, a box with a stick with a string attached. Was very impressive. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny. After the tour, we were offered some refreshments including juice and some fresh fruits. You can also buy some Souvenirs on your way out, handicrafts made by the locals. I highly recommend that visitors to Vanuatu, to pay a visit to Ekasup Village.

Sehr empfehlenswert !

Myself and my Partner did a day trip from our P&O cruise to the cultural village. We both agree we learnt a lot and everyone was really lovely. Only negative was that the tour felt a little rushed. No complaints though as everyone was super lovely and helpful. If looking for souvenirs pretty much everything is $5.00AUD so make sure you have enough of their currency as not all shops have eftpos

The people in this village are amazing. The information we received about their lifestyle and way of life is incredible. The medicines that they get from their natural surroundings is astounding. This is a must for everyone to visit. Well done.

How is the best way to travel to Ekasup Village from the cruise port?
Shaun H

We to attended via organised activity with carnival cruise lines so our transport was taxi through them which waited for our return. It was probably more expensive doing it through them but we wanted the guarantee of no issues being first time there

Not so much this one but can you tell me where Larofa cultural village is. Doing a P & O cruise & they offer Larofa but I can't find it on the map but Ekasup does look interesting & we could do it with a tour group. Look forward to your reply

Very interesting. They show how they use native plants to make everything from medicines to weapons. Demonstrations of local tribal dancing, and a complimentary fresh fruit platter at the end. Tables of souvenirs which are found in the towns, but a bit cheaper. Very friendly people.

Is this now known as Mele Village or is that a different attraction?

Mele village is a different place and is not associated with the cultural village.. I can recommend Atmosphere Tours for this trip as they are a totally Ni-Vanuatu operation and very efficient.
