I arranged an extra day on my tour so I could see this. At entry, you are assigned a tour guide and taken to the house. Once there you are told that you cannot take any photos inside the house. The tour guide I had spoke very fast and I was able to hear about 20% of what was said. I felt uncomfortable just taking some time to look at everything as she was watching me as I took everything in and I could feel she was eager to move on. The entire tour of the house lasted about 10min and you are then escorted out. You aren’t left to enjoy the house on your own. I asked the admission desk if there was a printed manual so I could learn more as I hadn’t heard much of the tour. They suggested I buy a book from the gift shop. I didn’t, as I had already paid an admission for a tour. Due to not being able to look around on my own I don’t think this was worth the cost of an extra day. Recommend just skipping this.

Visited the Karen Blixen museum with friends. Learned about the history of the property and Karen's life. The grounds were beautiful and the tour of the home/museum was very interesting.

Pour bien apprécier la visite il faut voir ou revoir le film ou encore mieux lire ou relire le livre avant. U guide nous fait la visite mais j'aurais aimer refaire un tour par moi même pour continuer à apprécier les lieux

Each room feels as if Karen herself were to walk in... step back in the history of a time when the land was both for the Kenyans, the Kiku tribe mainly.. and those who wanted to make a life in Kenya. Needs to be maintained a little better, but worth the visit.

If you like stepping back in history, you will love the careful preservation of Karen's old house.
I was disappointed that I wasn't allowed to take photos but I think the visit is more personal for that.
Out of Africa is a great film, as are many of her other books. (Pen name Isak Dinesen).
I wonder what Karen Blixen would think about the industry that has grown, based on her life?

Me encantó visitar este maravilloso lugar, donde todo se conserva de una manera increíble, tanto la casa como el parque, son bellísimos, muy cálidos, para quienes hemos leído el libro de Karen y visto la película, es lo máximo poder visitar este lugar.

How do I get to see this with a guide without going on a longer tour?
Are there any guides to be hiring at the museum? :)

Do you train the guides about the ACTUAL history that this place? I totally disagreed with their historical knowledge of the place in relation to Karen blixen and how she related to Kenyans at that time...

I think it is relative to the guide you got. when you say "their", you refer to all but I guess it was only one guide who took you round. It could depend on number of months or experiences the intern may have had with them before your visit. Mine was quite knowledgeable about the place and Kenyan culture

No one was painting on the porch the day we visited. Have you contacted the museum and asked for the information you want? I’m sure they would know who is painting there.
