We booked a private transfer from Beijing to hike from Jiankou to Mutianyu with Leo. Leo helped us find the right trail up to Jiankou in the morning and waited for us at the other end.
Contact was easy and we set everything up by email.
We had a great time, Leo speaks excellent English and responded to our many questions about China and Beijing. It was a pleasure chatting away together to and from the great wall.

Leo was absolutely incredible!! Our trip to Beijing was amazing because of him. He is so nice, kind, and caring. He’s fluent English so the communication is perfect.
We only had 2 days to enjoy the city, and he adapted the tour to our timing. It was perfect! He pick us up and drop us off at the airport, and always pick us up the hotel everyday! Was great. He took us to the most beautiful parts of the turistic sites, not very crowded, so the experience was amazing. I would totally recomend this tour guide!!! He made me feel in love with this city. Do not doubt about this tour, it would change your life.

We loved our trip with Leo! We have 5 children, ranging from 5 years old to 15 years old. Our family wanted to experience an unrestored section of the wall away from the crowds. Leo helped us plan an unforgettable experience. Leo was patient and flexible and helpful. It was great to be picked up and dropped off at the locations of our choice. We really enjoyed the quiet little village we stayed in. He made sure we had enough water and snacks. He guided us around the parts of the wall where it is crumbling too much to hike safely. His English is great, so he was able to talk to us about the history of Beijing and the Great Wall as well as ensure there was no confusion about logistics. Leo took pictures for us the whole time so we could focus more on hiking and kids as we wanted. We would definitely do this again, and I recommend Leo without reservation.

If you want visit the Great Wall „off the beaten track“ this is your tour. Both sections (Gubeikou and Jinshanling) that we visited have been almost empty (during the week). Our guide Leo was fantastic, not only as a guide to the wall but as well as photographer bringing his own professional camera (he is also offering special visits to forbidden city with a focus on photography).

This was an absolutely amazing trip and experience. Leo is such an amazing guide and his English is excellent. The photos he took for us were gorgeous and he put so much thought and effort into everything. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone I know.
This was such a special experience and it was definitely worth the drive. If you are in Beijing and want to see a part of the wall that doesn't have as many tourists with a guide who really tries to make the whole day perfect for you look no further.

Whenever I hear of someone headed to Beijing, I make sure they know about Leo and his amazing tour. We hired Leo for a personalized tour for our family of 8, with 2 parents and 6 children. We had 2 college age kids, two in high school and a 12 year old and a 8 year old. Leo connected with all of our kids and our youngest two felt especially connected to Leo and still talk about him years later.
Daki picked us up from the airport in the afternoon and took us to our hotel and helped us get situated (the front desk didn't speak any English). That evening, Daki walked us around downtown, showing us how to navigate the city and taking us to an open air food market where they were selling all sorts of exotic cooked delicacies such as fried scorpion. She also took us to an outdoor square where they were doing ballroom dancing and my kids all joined in.
The next day we were picked up and shuttled in a comfortable van to the Great Wall of China and Leo was our guide for the day. Leo is engaging, charming and had a great sense of humor and quickly won over our kids. If you like having a great storyteller, Leo is the guide for you. He was able to take the complex Chinese history and make it interesting for all of us. Leo was so kind to think of our kids and brought 2 kites that our kids could fly on the top of the Great Wall. What a memory!
We rode down the toboggan down and then stopped at lunch where Leo helped us navigate the menu. We quickly became obsessed with the green beans and we ordered them at nearly every meal there after. They made our tongues slightly numb and the flavor was fantastic.
We had planned on going to the Olympic Park, but Leo accommodated my 8 year old daughter's dream to see some Pandas in China and we made a detour to the Beijing Zoo. We only had time to race to the Panda exhibit, but my daughter was in heaven. We then walked through the Summer Palace and then had Beijing Duck for dinner! Yummy.
The next day, Leo had arranged at our request a private Tai Chi lesson in a public park. It was a wonderful experience and the teacher was very patient with us. We enjoyed seeing the elderly Chinese working out on some public work-out equipment. We then went to a Baiyunguan taoism temple, did a Qianmen street walk, visited Tiananmen square and the The Forbidden City, and did a Hutong walking tour where we visited a man who did fighting crickets. We finished the day by visiting the Lama temple and the Hongqiao market.
Leo was attentive, charming, flexible and an excellent photographer. If we every make it back to beautiful Beijing, we will certainly hire him again. We give him our highest recommendation!

Our tour guide, Adele, was amazing!! I highly recommend this tour (and her!) if you're looking for an authentic way to see the Great Wall. We experienced the almost empty "Wild Great Wall" at Gubeikou and enjoyed unprecedented views first before heading over to the restored wall at Jinshanling for sunset. Be prepared for a LOT of walking and some steep stairs. The sunset was stunning and we finished the day with a family-style meal at a local restaurant. The food was great too. 10/10 recommend!

We loved our private tour to Mutianyu Great Wall with Leo, he was a really great conversationalist, and very informative about the Wall's and the area's history. Doing a private tour also made the experience much more hassle-free than the group tour I'd done previously through a different company. I cannot highly enough recommend Leo!

We did the Jiankou to Mutianyu hiking tour with BeijingWalking in early Jan 2020. Just booked on their website. It was low season so we had the whole Jiankou section of the wall to ourselves. It was amazing seeing the wall and surrounds in winter with snow on it. Leo was our guide and tailored the day to suit us. So glad we did this rather than the big group options.

Wild Great Wall Sunset Photo Tour. The Adventure hike was incredible, after a challenging 45 minutes of uphill climbing the views at the top are amazing seeing the wild wall.
Hi Avery. Just how challenging is the 45 minute leg ?
We hope to visit. The sunset tour sounds to really get away from the crowds. My wife and I are 75+ a long way off buying our first walking frames. Good walkers. 45 min. each way? Barry pbroboy.

We are 72 and 73 and had no trouble with the walk, Leo did give me a hiking stick in case i needed it as I have a dodgy knee. It was a beautiful walk, and as the three of us where the only ones on the trip it meant we went at our own pace and had a wonderful day. Just two great walks, and a very tasty lunch, no shopping.

Will the Great Wall tour include a stop at shops like some tours do? I would like to avoid tour that include that in itinerary.
