This is a small ancient village that is still keeping its beauty in modern China. There are two main streets that consist of shops selling mainly food. About 2 hours at most are adequate for this place. It takes about an hour to reach this place from Hechuan by public transport. The return trip costs at most about 30 RMB by and hence it is a low budget trip. However, one ends up spending some time in waiting for the buses since there are not too many buses. I was in Hechuan to see the fishing village fortress and had about 4 hours of time. Therefore, I considered visiting Laitan. It was a good opportunity for me to travel to this interior area in China and see the life around this area. If you are tight on time, this place can be skipped. Once can return to Chongqing and use that time in eating hotpot somewhere or even relax there.

Laitan Ancient Town is a 1-2 hour drive from Chongqing. It is a tourist area that mainly attracts Chinese tourists, which means there is very little or no English around here. It's best to go with someone that can speak Chinese.
Once you arrive, you can kill a couple hours wandering around. You can check out farmers laboring in their fields as well as old buildings.

基本每年都会来、记得城墙大门口那些地摊价格便宜哟！可以自己买点鸭蛋 就在边边就可以包成皮蛋！自己做的吃着放心，古镇边边就是漂流安逸得很哟！整累了还可以去古镇边边有个草莓基地钓钓鱼摘摘草莓！

Похоже, что это не новодел, а действительно хорошо сохранившаяся старая деревушка, во всяком случае, очень на это похоже. Если так, то она уникальна.

ที่นี่อยู่ทางตอนเหนือของเมืองฉงชิ่ง ต้องนั่งรถออกมาค่อนข้างไกล เกือบชั่วโมง มาถึงแล้วจะได้พบกับบรรยากาศแบบจีนโบราณ ค่อนข้างสงบ คนไม่เยอะมาก ตึกส่วนใหญ่ เป็นแบบจีนโบราณ 2 ชั้น

古镇入口是一个拱形石门，周边是用石头围住的城墙，进去后是古老的石板路，都是古老陈旧的房子，商铺还是很多的，都是些土特产，有荫米、豆腐乳、咸菜，还有很多新鲜的农家蔬菜。饭馆也多，价格也不贵。走在古镇的街上感觉很舒适休闲。

A few of the smells coming from the cooking areas threw me a little but, it was nice walking around and having a look at the different shops.
The killer was a broken sewage line, right below some of the cooking places, that were still selling food.

涞滩古镇是座历史悠久的小镇，可惜离市中心太远了，要坐两个多小时的车程才能到达，只在休息日的时候去过一次，小镇很古朴、自然，建筑保持着原始的风貌，有一些商家店铺，街道上都是来来往往的人，车水马龙。曲曲折折的石板路，让你感觉来到了世外桃源。

喜欢这个古镇，虽然名气没有江南的那几个古镇名声在外，但是它特有的老重庆风格让人非常难忘，古建筑非常的大气，小吃也很美味，酸辣粉啊~~

Way below expectation - lukong ancient town is far better vs this!
Diaoyu fortress nearby is actually better/worth especially with the suspending buddha which apparently is more than +1,000y.
Based on the review, we used michael jiang as a guide but he is a total disappointment will not recommend him but the driver is excellent.
