This is the heart of Chongqing city. It houses the People's Liberation monument at the center of the pedestrian walking boulevard.
There are plenty of eating and shopping options in the vicinity. It is also the place for people watching.

We thought this would be a quick in and out trip but we spent a lot more time than we had planned to. There are some really nice malls, bookstores and museums in the area. We stocked up on snacks at the Ole supermarket, visited the Chongqing Art Museum for free and got lots of pictures of the interesting architecture.

城市中心，热闹非凡。购物的地方很多，应有尽有。美食让人流连忘返。四通八达，地铁公交都很方便，步行可到洪崖洞和朝天门

Apparently is the city center of Chongqing. You can find all kinds of brand name shops from luxury items to down to earth brand like GAP or Uniqlo. Just watch out of the people who like to approach foreigners.

The picture does not do jiefangbie justice, there is a tower in the middle of the square that is a memorial to the military. There is many stores to do your shopping and dine. There isn’t any automobile traffic in that area, it’s like a large mall

This is the centre of the Central Business District of Chongqing, so as you can expect, it is surrounded by sky scrappers and global brands.
The Jiefang Monument in the centre stands out: a good place to capture memorable photos.
We had lunch in a Sichuan Spicy food restaurant in one corner of the Square.

Jiefangbei Square is a shopping district established in 1997. It is the best area to shop and experience local upper middle class life-style in Chongqing. You can find all the branded names there and there are quite a few big malls. There is even a big Applestore there. Finding local or foreign food is also no issue. For western food, there are a few Mcdonalds and Starbucks located there. Local food is also available at a corner. The Square is a short walk from Hongya caves. My advice is to compliment this shopping with Hongya Caves visit. There are all within walking distance and will complete your shopping experience in Chongqing.

来到这里的第一感觉就是商业氛围浓厚，到处都是商场，人很多，地方很大，很繁华。做为重庆的地标当之无愧。

Dans cette ville de 33 millions d'habitants on trouve des infrastructures gigantesques comme dans ce square Jiefangbei. . les architectes ont du se faire plaisir à construire très haut de en style varié

Hi,
I will be staying in Chongqing intercontinental Hotel for 2 days and 1 night after the Yangtze Cruise .
Can you please advice me on what is the best way to get to Wansheng Heishan Valley .Any train or metro ?

I also suggest finding a tour as trains in China, although extremely good, can be hard to purchase tickets unless you can get them days earlier. They sell out very quickly and you may be disappointed.
