重慶羅漢寺起源北宋年間，迄今已千餘年，為重慶重點佛教寺廟。現今寺廟建築與大部分的羅漢雕像為近代重新改建與製作，僅古佛巖上還存有宋代摩崖石刻佛像數百尊，雖然已有些風化磨損，依舊能看出其模樣，值得欣賞。寺內香火鼎盛，是重慶的重要信仰中心也是觀光景點。週遭均為高樓大廈，更凸顯該寺為都市叢林中的靜地與淨土。

Though really pretty and grand, this temple feels overly commercialized as it charges hefty fees for almost everything - including entrance. Joss sticks and those mini-candles are extra. It is almost therefore more a tourist attraction than a place that reflects the essence of Buddhism, or a place for serious Buddhists to worship at.
However, one good thing perhaps is that the temple grounds are made widely accessible and there even appeared to be guests touring the upper floors.

Likely the finest piece of workmanship and architecture in Chongqing. The temple complex is massive, and literally crammed with fine ancient Buddhist architecture, both in stone and wood.

Beautiful old Temple, we heard it has been only opened to the public not long ago. Beautiful architecture, that special "secret" room with the 500 statues is quite amazing. Not that the clay figures are particularly pretty from a pure aesthetic point of view, despite our extensive experience, we'd never seen anything like that!

An absolute marvel of architecture the LuoHan temple features a room with 500 clay figures representing 500 LuoHan or Arhat ( Arahat), a perfected person who has reached nirvana and freed himself from the bounds of desire and temptation. These 500 clay figures are unique and must see. It is forbidden to take pictures inside the room, so cannot share any here. Luohan temple is located near the touristic center of Chongqing on Yuzhong peninsula, near Guotai Arts Center which features a unique architecture. Around the temple, besides the common shops, there is a little street named Miracle street; there I found a lovely shop offering very special gift items, strong Chongqing and Chinese culture identity very nicely packaged and wrapped. Owner Linda is a beautiful and friendly lady!

I live in Chongqing and have lived here for almost a decade. While there are many temples to visit in Chongqing, Luohan Temple remains one of my favorites. I am not a religious person, yet I find Luohan Temple to be an exceptional example of the calmness and serenity of Buddhist Temples, a true masterpiece of architecture. And to think this temple is located in the middle of the busy downtown area of Chongqing is just staggering.
From the outside, the temple doesn't look like much, but once you get inside, for a small entrance fee, you are instantly transported back in time almost 1000 years. The temple is larger than it looks, currently undergoing renovations and expansion, and is also the seat of the Buddhist Association of Chongqing.
Inside you'll find stunning architecture, mesmerizing halls, and, perhaps most importantly, a sense of inner peace. The temple contains cliff inscriptions, arhat statues, sacred texts and much more for you to explore.

Um mosteiro a não esquecer. Decerto com mais de 1000 anos e uma história representada nele.
Encontramos um enorme número de pessoas a prestar o respeito às divindades budistas.
É digno de se ver.

Find the entrance can be tricky, but not impossible, because it is surrounded by high rise skyscrapers.
From the outside it does not look like a big temple, but once you get into it, it is quite a big complex of shops, temples, shops and selling stands.
The whole building complex is being rebuilt in concrete and refurbished with the usual decoration. We were shocked by the lots of people paying theirs respects to the buddhist deities.
Some warders won’t let you use your camera.
We do not regret spending a couple of hours in this old monastery.
