The nunnery is within a walking distance from Diamond Hill MTR, making it convenient to visit when you want to getaway from the buzz of the city. The wooden building is beautiful, perfectly preserved and it's peaceful inside with serene garden in the middle. It's a perfect place to spend some time relaxing and being with yourself while visiting such a busy city like Hong Kong.

The place is good. People are nicer compared to the other places. Good view, very relaxing but nothing much here. Good to visit if you have exrtra time.

An oasis of calm, and contemplation. The temple is beautifully crafted - simple traditional Chinese architecture that is still inspiring. There are many small shrines in the temple, with their own Buddha (and descriptions in Chinese and English on the wall). The main Buddha is big, beautiful, and pulls you in. All over the courtyard are ponds with different lilies - beautiful. Behind the temple, they have a small market - in case you are in the mood for a religious trinket. Across the temple are the awesome Nan Liang Gardens - a must visit.

Славное место, тихо, очень красиво и большая территория. Есть где погулять и что посмотреть. Это мой первый визит в Гонконг и монастырь точно входит в топ мест для посещения

Easily accessible by MTR (Diamond Hill station in Kowloon), it’s a must-see when visiting Honk Kong. It’s so calm and serene that, along with Nan Lian garden nearby, definitely creates a sense of harmony with nature. Right in the middle of a huge megapolis HK is, surrounded by sky scrapers, it’s utterly beautiful. Got to know later that it’s the largest wooden building in the world. Allow at least an hour to enjoy not just the nunnery but also charming Chinese garden across, with pagodas, streams, bridges, waterfalls. Pop in to a little cafe in the garden for a cup of tea and try traditional toast with butter and condensed milk there.

This is a stately set of temples completely enclosing a central coutyard with four symmetrical lotus ponds. When I visited, quite a lot of lotus flowers with different colors were in bloom. In contrast, all the temples are of a sombre dark brown color. Do not expect to find the golden pagoda and the connecting red bridge that some reviewers wrongly attributed to this temple. They are actually located in Nan Lian Garden.

Chilin Nunnery was founded in 1934 and built in the style of the Tang Dynasty. Chilin is a temple complex of wooden architecture, with Buddhist relics, lotus ponds, sculptures and a beautiful park. The monastery was built according to all the rules of Feng Shui.

A friend of mine recommended to go and visit this place. I am not a practicing buddhist but I am surprised that there is a certain calmness of mind during meditation inside the nunnery. There are also some rock artifacts and plants showcased upon entering where there are philosophy/quotation on it. There is also a nearby park. It is easy to find this place. Must try!

few senior nuns speak good english but i doubt you can meet them as they are always busy.

just go to Diamond Hill and actually there a small sign to Nan Lian Garden (via Plaza Hollywood). you can enter the Nan Lian Garden first. from there theres actually a bridge that connect directly to the Chi Lin Nunnery.

No, it only opens for lunch and dinner everyday. For the 1st and 15th day of Chinese lunar calendar, it will be very crowded and unlikely to get a table. Pre booking will be helpful.

A couple of hours between the Nunnery and the Gardens, linked by a foot bridge. It's a peaceful break from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong.
