Very good buffet on weekend meetings but if you are a vegan / vegetarian best you check the menu as loads ro eat if you can eat meat especially pork and beef !!

If you like excitement - place a few bets on the Hong Kong race horses and spend a nice day - recommend you dod not miss out going to the tracks in Shatin, and if you have any members as friends go enjoy some nice buffet meal with your favorite drinks

Watching a live horse race has long been an indispensable part of any Hong Kong trip. Even for non-gamblers, the racecourse itself is very enjoyable. Penfold Park, a lush open space with pleasant greenery and lakes, is a perfect weekend respite. The peaceful environment and panorama are unparalleled in the city. It is also one of the few pet-friendly locations. When fed up with the urban bust and crowd, this will be a lovely option.

the Shatin racecourse is upgraded and still upgrading continuously - this is a place where one can come and relax with some friends - enjoy their horse racing and excitement watching the races, the restaurants for Owners and Members are all very good, though at times you will not be able to eat whatever you like due to the menu always packed with Pork and Beef items, i had written to the HKJC to please expand their menu's to more seafood / fish / chicken dishes instead of only concentrating on Beef and Pork which a lot of Asians does not touch and will not appreciate at all..
do not miss NIght Races at the HKJC Happy Valley it is a Must for all racegoers.

Had brunch at The Haymarket which brings rustic England to Sha Tin Racecourse.
There were counters for cooked to order omelettes, salad and sashimi bar.
At the far end was a patisserie bar which becomes a dessert bar at 1:30pm.
The omelette was amazing, it was soft and fluffy with a fragrant egg taste and the potatoes, mushrooms and cheese made it extremely yummy.
As well as the food, Sha Tin Racecourse was very memorable as I got to film a promo there for HKJC.

香港に２つある競馬場の一つです。
特に観光客が行くところではありませんが、沙田はベッドタウンとなっているので大型のショッピンブモールが幾つかあります。また、レストランはチムサチョイに比べると値段は安めです。

The Sha Tin Racecourse at Penfold Park is one of two racecourse in Hong Kong managed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club. The other is Happy Valley on Hong Kong Island. Races usually occur here on weekends and public holidays during season (September to July). Opening times are 11am and races usually begin at 1pm.
Do visit the Hong Kong Jockey Club website - Sha Tin Racecourse pages to see updated calendar of events and to learn about the various venue features - entrance requirements, seating, betting hall, dining and package offers which might interest you. The Tourist Zone, a popular Grandstand area for expats and visitors to Hong Kong is just HK$30 per person to enter on race days.
Note: The most convenient way to visit the Sha Tin Racecourse is by way of the MTR Racecourse Station (a bypass of the East Rail Line) at Fo Tan. This station is only open and accessible on race days. Otherwise, you can simply alight at Fo Tan station (Exit C) and follow the sights next to and through the Palazzo residential complex and along a ramp that takes to the racecourse entrance (7-8 minute walk from the Fo Tan Station). Just follow the crowd making their way into the tracks.

Went to Sha Tin for the Hong Kong Cup (first time). Was great to see. Initially I thought there were a lot of people, but was told that the numbers were well down due to the protests. Paid for a table at the Legends Pavilion (level 6) and was well worth the experience. Unlimited food and beverages. Was very comfortable, but about 200 metres from the finish line. Didn't really matter as the TV coverage was excellent.

香港でまだ行ったことがない場所へ行こう！ということになり、こちらの競馬場へ行ってみました。街中にあるハッピーバレーとはまた違った雰囲気で、開放的な競馬場でのんびり時間をつぶせました。基本的に馬券の買い方は日本とほぼ同じなので、経験者なら言葉が通じなくても何とかなると思います。レースや出走馬の情報などが書かれた冊子やペンなどはインフォメーションで安く購入できます。

The answer from Geoff C is OK. Go to web site of the Hong Kong Jockey Club. Usually races start around 12 o'clock. And you can get there when you want. For us, we decided to go around 1 pm and it was fine.
Take the octopus card and you will pay not only for the transport but also for the entry at Sha Tin.
Anyway, everything is very simple.

Looking to Attend Sha Tin Racecourse on Wed 8th May for the night races. Does the booking at Pak Sing Restaurant get you food included for the ticket price or not? Where do you suggest are the best places to sit and eat and still see the track that is a little more classy?

We are visiting Hong Kong in April and are looking to go to the race meeting evening of the 3rd is it better to book tickets? I see that in reviews some people are paying 10HKD is it that pay on arrival? TIA

Hi Stuart the 10HK$ is for general admission to the stands. There are charges for entrances to the restaurants and dress codes. I see that it is possible to book in advance at these private enclosures and restaurants. I would try and book in advance as the locals love gambling at the race course and it gets pretty busy.

We didn't go to the member's room. There are various stands, restaurants etc and the viewing on the ground is fabulous.

We arrive late on the 1st March for races on the Saturday Sha Tin what is the best way to get the most out of our day there. Looking for best suggestion. Confused.. go on our own or book day tour or box tour with buffet. Looking for best . Thanks in advance

Races start at 13:00 hrs on Sat 2 March at Shatin. Easiest way to get to the racecourse is to take a train (MTR) from anywhere in town.
On race days the trains go directly to Racecourse Station which is right next to the race track.
I wouldn’t bother with fancy boxes and buffets. You can do those if you want - check out the HK Jockey Club website - but I think it is more enjoyable to mix with the chattering classes!
If you clean up at the tote you can always treat yourself to a slap-up meal that evening!
