To be candid, I was a bit overwhelmed by the number of guides to choose from. There are so many and I didn't want to just follow a basic touristy agenda.
So when I had an extra free day after a recent work trip to mainland, I began my research. Being in the food industry and a former professional chef, I was being picky. Very picky!
I honestly found Ashley's via Instagram and then cross referenced with TA to ensure I wasn't getting punked. What she had that caught my eye was a good collection of fellow (very reputable too) chefs that follow her account. That immediately told me she had the street cred I was looking for. She was also on the pricier side... so with those things combined, I knew I was in for a memorable and unique tour so I pulled the trigger.
Fast forward to the day of. I was pumped! She met us at the station in central and everything she told us in advance (itinerary and our preparations) were spot on. So with HKD in hand, we hit the ground running.
Noodles, Dumplings, great IG photo spots... all were done with flawless execution. The last stop was an insane outdoor street restaurant with a queue that was over an hour long. This was the climax of the tour and it was well worth the cost of the entire tour. Not only would I have been too intimidated to do this myself, I would have not known what to do and certainly would have been in queue for over an hour. Ashley has the connections! She ushered us right into the restaurant with a VIP table and I couldn't have been happier.
We did it for the gram. We did it for our bellies. Ashley was solid. I couldn't recommend her services more. Not only did she deliver core memories, she also delivered a new friend. I hope to return the favor if she's ever in chicago.

Ashley was a fantastic tour guide for our last night in Hong Kong! She took us to places we would have never discovered on our own and answered all of our questions about the food scene and what it was like growing up in HK. The food was delicious, she clearly knows what she is doing and has built relationships with many small business owners around the city. Ashley was knowledgeable and clearly very passionate about her work. Could not recommend her enough!

Our family had a great time on this private food tour. Ashley brings a lot of passion and enthusiasm in addition to her knowledge of Hong Kong. Her passion of the lifestyle and culture made every stop an experience in its own! The places we visited were very authentic and we truly enjoyed all the food.

Ashley did a wonderful job, and she took me to places that I would have never been able to go myself. She did a wonderful job interweaving Hong Kong history in their own personal history to make each place special and unique. From the stinky tofu to the beef brisket noodles to the custard tarts everything was a tasty experience. I would strongly enthusiastically recommend her.

Ashley was a great host. She was very friendly and gave a great, detailed history of protests in Hong Kong. After meeting at Mongkok station, she first took us to a cool, old Hong Kong dinner for milk tea and to learn a bit about the history of Hong Kong protests. She then took us to an area in Kwai Chung to show us some of the posters and artwork on the walls. It was interesting to see how integral the posters and billboards have become to the movement. She finished the trip by performing two songs on her violin that have become popular during the movement. It was a great way to spend a few hours and I definitely recommend it.
At the end, Ashley wouldn't accept a tip and instead gave us some websites we could donate to. I have been on dozens of tours around the world and never seen any tour guide do this. I thought it was an incredibly thoughtful act.

Thank you so much for coming on my new history tour again! It's definitely an interesting time living in Hong Kong these days and I'm glad I was able to give you more context on Hong Kong's social unrests in the past few years.
It also wouldn't feel right for me to make money off this tour due to the topic of the tour, and I thought it was best for my guests to donate to the local charities in Hong Kong and help those who need it!

We were excited to book the morning food tour with Ashley as we had read many excellent reviews regarding the tour.
We had corresponded regularly and everything had been confirmed.
We were at our meeting point 15 minutes before the appointed time and then waited in the heat of the station for 45minutes. I phoned Ashley to see where she was after 30minutes and she said she was on her way. After waiting another 15minutes she still hadn’t turned up so I messaged her to tell her we were leaving.
Very bad form with 1 child and 4 disappointed adults.
Unfortunately there is no way I would recommend this tour at she just isn’t reliable.

First of all I’d like to apologise for the huge disappointment and my unprofessionalism on the day of the tour again. I’ve made the mistake of not marking your booking manually on my calendar (since you booked through WhatsApp) and that was entirely my fault for my carelessness and being so late.
I was actually on my way and was about to arrive at the meeting point when I received your message that you had left the station - again, I’m very sorry that I made you guys waited for so long. If you come visit Hong Kong again, I’d like to offer a complimentary private tour for you guys next time.

I went on a tour with Ashley and had a great time, amazing food and a lot of story’s to go with it. She really cares that everyone has an amazing time and educated on the dishes being served up.

My wife and I had a great time with Ashley on our tour. Lots of varied food. From smoked duck pancakes to pork belly and rice to egg waffles and peanut butter. It was a great way to see some of Hong Kong and to let a local show you there favourite eating spots. Would recommend. Thank you Ashley.

From start to finish I literally felt like I was with a friend. Had booked the tour half way through my holiday to Hong Kong so I had covered many sight seeing ‘musts’. Ashley was very insightful and could easily tune into my personality and tailor made the experience. Thoroughly enjoyed tasting street food and exploring the busy markets. Tea and gin went down a treat too! Was most definitely a highlight of my trip and would recommend to any of my solo female gang to book in.

Dear Ashley,
Thank you for a fantastic experience during our FOOD and CULTURAL WALKING DAY TOUR last May 9, 2018/Wednesday!
HK has always been a favorite place to visit inasmuch as it is only an hour and a half plane ride from my country. And, much as I am quite familiar with the places around it, this was my first ever experience to do a walking tour that brought me to never-explored areas around Central. I thought to do this as I was with a group of 7 (less 1 on the day itself that included my husband, sisters- and brother-in-law) who have not seen much of Central. And, it was one memorable experience for all of us, hands down!
The trip to the wonton noodle restaurant, to the milk tea and sandwich place and the history behind these places, to that ice cream place and to The Murray Hotel - this experience will forever be remembered and treasured!
You are one awesome food/tour guide - fun, witty, insightful...and, pretty! It was
wonderful to have met you and I will certainly recommend this tour to friends. I hope too that this review will send you more sign-ups in the days to come! Next time, I would like to experience your NIGHT TOUR.
And, since you have friends in Manila, add us to your list of friends and do come and visit as we will be more than happy to give you our brand of FOOD TOUR this time.
