just a nice and hip joint for some good bites and good music ..live stuff.
can be crowded later into the nights and the patrons are mainly the younger set with some expats.

Just arrived in Jakarta and headed for Top Gun for a night of fun. I'm sorry to report that Top Gun is now permanently closed. Apparently the owners went Bankrupt. Can't imagine why as the place was packed every night. It's the end of an era and unfortunately Jakarta nightlife will never be the same.

Its a bit of an institution and the late night stop of many expats in Jakarta. Well known for their live bands and plenty of eye candy, it is a great place to see the night out. Don't ever take taxis of the street there, the staff here or at D's place across the road will order a legit one for you and make sure its a proper one. The ones outside are all scammers. Great fun and very rarely nothing to look at here. Well worth a trip.

They have nightly live band. It is safe to enter. The bands sings English and local songs. Serves very tasty Soup Buntut.

You can have a night of fun, without any pressure if you are not looking for it.
You can play pool. As a male you are priviliged over the - mostly - good playing ladies.
To meet a local - working - girl it is an easy opportunity. And safe if you also can behave yourself. Ask for a taxi to bring you back, do not take just one in the front.
The Security heps you , but you have to ask. A good alternative for the rather expensive clubs in the international hotels. Offcourse of a lower class, but also affordable.

If you're watching your dollar, this is a bit of the other side of the track kind of experience. Music is good, and the local wildlife could be interesting. The place is a bit run down and not maintained. Starts late so dont go early.

Top Gun is inexpensive fun on a street (Jalan Palatehan) that at night becomes a haven for male ex-pats while the female clientele is 95% 'working ladies.' The liquor has increased in price in recent years though compared to the 5-star bars/clubs around the city is still a value. Some unfortunate incidents have occurred but they're few and far between and for the most part Top Gun (and the other bars on the street) is quite safe. Live music plays until 2AM every night (except Sunday), and while the working girls learn quickly to leave you alone if you're not into that type of business most of them are sweet and polite and just like to converse.

Like to go there at the weekends , enjoy the bands and the atmosphere . Get great service from the bar staff and no pressure from the ladies unless you want it.

I went on a Saturday night and it was great fun. Around midnight it really heats up as the band rocks out. The band was great. Beers 50,000. Other nights not so good. You can get hassled by the ayam girls

I went to Top Gun on a Tuesday night at about 10pm, after the brutal Jakarta traffic subsided. The place had a live band, about 30 girls and maybe 3-4 guys. Can't get a better ration than that. No pressure, you can just grab a reasonably-priced beer, watch sports (they had ESPN on the TV), listen to the band and make some new friends.
The outside area looks pretty sketchy at night, but no problem getting an Uber with five minutes. Don't use the taxis stationed outside - they won't use the meter.
