Diego, our wonderful and informative guide, picked us up on time from our hotel. Our first stop was at the Perez Cruz winery where Maria walked us through the wine making process. She answered all of our questions and really explained why Chilean wines taste the way they do.
After a very good tasting we headed to La Montana where 4 of us (including my 8-yr old) went zip lining. Diego and guides made sure we were safe and I very much appreciated the triple breaking system. It was very fun and we had beautiful views while zipping along.
Zip lining was followed by a spectacular meal grilled by the vineyard staff with their wine. My son is still asking for more of the grilled mushrooms-they were that good. It was a very relaxing and fun afternoon.

Tuvimos un día inolvidable, con la mejor atención, un trekking entre los bosques de la precordillera combinado con canopy a gran altura, con una vista maravillosa y un almuerzo delicioso........No estoy exagerando.....

We have 3 children (19 years old, 17 and 7)and we do a lot of traveling. We took a tour with Juan and Alex to La Montana Winery and Perez Cruz and had one of the best time ever!!! It is a beautiful winery and the hiking and the Zip Lining was very fun and safe for everyone. The wine and lunch (BBQ) was excellent. We really appreciate Juan and Alex for an awesome day!!!

Este passeio é muito bom, quando estiver em Santiago não pode perder de subir esta montanha, muito legal seria subir de bike, ou ótimo para curtir uma bela caminhada com paisagens inesquesiveis.

My husband and I took this winery tour during our stay in Santiago and we absolutely loved it!
Juan and Alex, our guides were really friendly and welcoming and made the day really fun and personal - especially as on the day we took the tour we were the only ones so it was like a private tour just the four of us.
The tour started when Juan picked us up from our Santiago hotel and took us to the winery, which was about an hour away. When we got there we were taken to a little lodge in the middle of the winery which was to be our "base. Juan then showed us around the winery and told us a little about the wine produced there and the grapes that make it. We got kitted up and then done the first of the five zip lines - the smallest one which is just over the vineyards. After our first zip line we started our hour long hike through forrestry mountain range, which included stopping at a beautfiful natural stream to drink the water. The hike is moderate but we found it fine. Once at the top we completed the other four zip lines back down to the bottom. This was amazing - we were so high up so the views over the winery were fabulous and the ziplining was so fun!
At the bottom we returned to the lodge were Alex made us dinner - a bbq outside the lodge in the middle of the winery. The weather was amazing and we loved dining al fresco. The best part though was the food - we ate well in South America and we have eaten in some amazing restaurants all over the world but the filet mignon Alex served us was truly one of the best meals we have ever had and will remember it forever! We each received a higely thick, juicy, piece of filet that was cooked to perfection (and to our liking) and was served with avacado, tomato, sweetcorn and rice salad and fried mushrooms. It was washed down with the winery's own exclusive red wine. Now, my husband does not drink wine at all and was only in it for the zip lining and I am not a lover of red wine - I prefer white and rose. But this wine was really good and even my husband polished off a couple of glasses! We purchased a bottle as a gift for family and a bottle for ourselves which we have kept for a special occasion. It was really lovely to have our own private bbq cooked for us and eat it outdoors in the middle of the beautiful winery.
After lunch we wandered around the winery for a bit, drinking more of their delicious wine, sampled the hammocks for a chill out and met the winery owner and his wife and young daughter who came to say hello. Then Juan drove us back to our Santiago hotel - after a fun day swith full stomachs after one of the best meals ever having had a truly amazing day. I can't recommend this tour enough - it's a must do if you have time in Santiago.

My wife and I visited La Montana Winery in early June 2011 to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. I was looking for a fun activity that would get us out of the bustling metropolis that is Santiago, and into nature. The winery appealed to me because it sits on about 5,000 acres (only 8 of which are used for grapes) of lush vegetation set in the foothills of beautiful Maipo Valley, just 85 kilometers southeast of the city. The allure of this particular winery is its canopy (or zip- line) course!
Personally, I wouldn't necessarily recommend this vinyard for the wine, though I'm no connoisseur. This is a trip for a nice hike through the forest, and some canopying fun!
Our guide mentioned that they were working on adding more zip-lines in the very near future. They have 5 know totaling about a kilometer in length.
You will want to coordinate transportation to get there and back so you don't have to worry about driving in and out of the city, especially after you have tried the wine!
Also, you get a better deal with more people, so the more the merrier - up to 8 people.
We hope to go back with some friends next time we are in Santiago.

Very nice estate. Great trek through the forest area. Even though you are far up in the country everything is very clean. Zip lining was a great experience. Lots of fun and excitement. The barbecue was fantastic in the middle of the forest. One of the best pieces of steak I have had. The wine they produce is excellent and we had a nice bottle with our meal. Definitely recommend it. One caution is that you need to be in reasonable good shape for the trekking through the terrain. We were ok and we are in our 60's and in reasonable good shape.
