Des oeuvres magnifiques, une histoire ancienne surprenante parfois pour cette église exclusive aux Espagnols dans ces temps-là. Le Christ et ses apôtres grandeur nature et la liste de nos découvertes pourrait être longue...

Es un magnífico edificio de la época colonial cuya construcción pasó por varias fases y se prolongó durante muchos años.
En la actualidad está desacralizada (no se hacen misas allí), y el espacio se destina a exposiciones artísticas temporales.
Merece la pena realizar la visita (la entrada es gratis), y visitar la cripta ... que es impresionante

cette ancienne cathédrale peut passer inaperçue sur cette vaste place mais elle mérite une visite car elle et devenue un musée qui est ouvert ce qui et très rare à Cuenca en ces temps de covid.
la visite est intéressante car l intérieur est plus grand que cela en l air de l extérieur. ne pas manquer les appartements des chamoines.

Muy buen sitio que tiene un buen guion museográfico, muestra en corto tiempo lo que es la ciudad y con una buena guía. Muy accesible.

the city of Cuenca is littered with churches, this is one of many, but certainly worth a visit then here.

A Igreja do Sacrário ou Antiga Catedral de Cuenca tem sua primeira construção datada de 1557. Hoje não é mais uma igreja em atividade. É um museu. Pagamos US 2 cada, pegamos os audioguias e mergulhamos na história e detalhes da antiga catedral. Dois dólares bem empregados, pois, há riqueza de detalhes. Difícil descrever tudo com poucas palavras. Ela tem três naves e quatro capelas laterais construídas por “beneméritos”. Endinheirados da época. Todas são lindas. Uma delas com teto mudéjar lindo. A igreja tem um coro e um órgão que está em restauro. Fomos até na sacristia que tem muitas peças históricas.

Symbol of Spanish power in 16th century Cuenca, initially the church was accessible to Spanish only. The victors used stone from the Pumapungo palace as construction material demonstrating who was boss now.
At the time it must have looked like an impressive building, but one can imagine why in the 1880s it was decided to build a new cathedral on the other side of the square, as the old structure looks rather small. The interior of the cathedral (now a museum) looks early 1900s and sometimes you get the impression you are in a Belle Epoque opera house.
It is possible to visit a crypt and ossuary underneath the west section of the cathedral. The remnants of those who could afford to be buried here are not show.
Admission fee 2$ (seniors 1$)
