I loved the interior court yard, and did not realize there were court proceedings in session when walked into a hearing room. Everyone was nice as I tiptoed out.

a wonderful architectural solution that fits in this part of town. I didn't see what it looked like inside but it is very nice on the outside

Construction of this building started in 1914, the year WOI broke out and ended the optimistic Belle Epoque era in Europe. In this period European powers, particularly France dominated the world stage. Spain was lagging behind. The dominant aristocratic Cuenca families were well aware of this development and initiated the French cité ideal in Cuenca. The renovation of the parque Calderon is another example of this initiative and to some extent the new cathedral, but the best model is this prestigious neoclassical building opposite the old cathedral that since 1959 houses the Provincial court.
Some reviewers mix up the history of the court (almost two hundred years old) and the history of the building.

This crusty old building is worth a quick inspection, but I didn’t think it was anything special. There appears to be a security screening, but we walked right through it since no one was there. There are more worthwhile attractions in Cuenca.

An imposing government building - who would ave thought the first floor would offer a stunning collection of local art. Minimal information but an impressive experience.

As some reviewers have stated, even if you just get a glimpse from the outside, make an effort to do so. After researching our trip to Cuenca, this building seemed to pop-up on all site referring to Cuenca. I was actually excited when we stumbled upon it by accident. Good picture site!

La façade comme l'intérieur du bâtiment qui est l'actuel palais de justice en fonctionnement est de toute beauté, ne pas hésiter à entrer dans la cour et regarder les détails et couleurs qui sont incroyables. Le style est unique et bien mis en valeur on ne s'attend pas de l'extérieur à voir de si belle choses.

Una vez en el parque Calderon edificio muy bonito para fotografías en el exterior, en el interior funciona Corte suprema de Justicia, suele necesitarse permiso para entrar
