‪Great walking tour of Tirana‬

‪Great walking tour of Tirana, very informative on history of the country and architecture. Our American guide was fun and enthusiastic, with a lot of useful information on restaurants, public transport, where to draw money free of charge, and other practical information. I was there for work, we all did the tour during the week on our time off and we all really enjoyed it. Thank you!‬

‪Was part of the tour led by Eri - the whole walk took about 2 - 2.5 hours and was a perfect balance of humor, history and practical information.
Passes all the city highlights and ends right back in the center.
Would certainly recommend to any new visitor curious about a (brief) history of Albania / Tirana to take the tour and get to know the city!
The guide is very approachable - ask them anything! (Tour itself is donation-based).‬

‪Tirana Free Tour started at the Opera House steps in the Cultural Bldg. Our guide was very good, keeping everyone with him and only talking when we were all present. Gave us the history of Tirana and then we visited the following: Took photo over the large, tiled square, Skanderbeg Square, laid in 2015. To the north was Tirana International Hotel built 1980 with a new building going up behind it. To the west is a new office building going up and to the southwest is a three-color building called Forever Green. The National History Museum is on the north side of the square and it was built in 1990. Visited the Et’hem Bej Mosque, built in late 1700’s. Beautiful inside. Went inside the bomb shelter, one of 1700 around the city and The Cloud by Yamamoto. Pyramid of Tirana, is being reconstructed. Was a museum in 1988, a conference center in 1991 after the fall of communism, and during the 1999 Kosovo War it was used as a NATO base. Went by the Prime Minister’s home and Parliament across the street. Viewed Katedralja Ngjallja Krishtit, Resurrection Cathedral, an Albanian Orthodox Church is considered to be among the largest Eastern Orthodox churches in the Balkans. Church bell tower with Green Building – tour ended here‬

‪It was an incredible experience. Eri Xihala was a lovely tour guide and my family and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Highly recommend to everyone visiting Albania for the first time and want to know more about Albania!!!‬

‪Eri was an exceptional tour guide.
The tour was perfect in distance and density of information, both full and entertaining, with fascinating personal insights and an intelligent balance across the negative and positive elements of the country's history, leaders and sociopolitics.
We came away feeling charged with passion about Albania and with vital context for the rest of our time here.
The level of knowledge Eri had across every time period of Albania's history was so impressive, it made total sense when he later told us he has a degree in history as well as tourism. He invited questions on all elements of life in Albania and had intelligent, measured answers for all of them.
This tour is the best possible way to start a trip in Albania.‬
