What a lovely surprise this museum in the heart of the city. The building is beautifully old and reflective of another world. The house owners painted their own murals, I would have loved to be invited for tea by Madame Storck in that space.

I had heard of the Storck Museum but came across it by accident on a back street (Alecsandri Vasile) between Piata Romana and Pasaj Victoria. The building immediately stands out with its old wine colour and timbered face under the eaves, in what is described as an English-Flemish style. It's a striking building but in need of repair/renovation. For my visit, the garden was closed - entrance to the museum cost €1 for concessions and €2 for waged people. In some respects, it is the perfect museum with enough diversity and beauty to entrance and entertain but not so much that one feels overwhelmed. A gentle amble around the 3 main rooms and passage taking in the exhibits by the artists of the Storck family would take an hour or a little more. The main saloon is possibly the most impressive with its collection of paintings and murals by Cecilia-Cutescu Storck, and bronzes by Frederic Storck - here the room's design/decoration and the art it contains vie for attention. Some of the pictures reflect Cecilia's travels in western Europe (from Britanny to Portugal). The bronze heads capture character beautifully. A passage to another large room has fine bas-reliefs of the gospel writers. Dominating this second room is a remarkable wooden model of the Biserica Episcopala in Curtea de Arges, and two life-size statues. A splendid excursion for a morning or afternoon away from the city-centre bustle, possibly completed with a coffee & snack at the nearby Sonder.

This museum celebrates Storck family, a family of excellent artists very well known in Romania, mainly represented by the three men sculptors (father Karl and sons Frederic and Carol) and painter Cecilia Cutescu Storck, the wife of Friederich. The house itself worth a visit - located in very quite zone of old Bucharest, it has been built and designed by Storck family at around 1910 and is just perfect for a family of artists - big windows, separate art rooms for sculturing and paintings. It has also a very nice garden where you could rest and admire the art around. The collection of paintings including the murals, all by Cecilia, is remarcable and so is also the important number of beautiful sculptures by Frederic. A special mention should be made for the remarcable replica of Curtea de Arges Cathedral (the resting place of the Romanian kings), made of golden carved wood by father Karl in 1876 for the worldwide exposition in Paris. The lady managing the place is very nice and knowledgable. It was a real pleasure to visit and it is well worth for the insignifient price of around 2 euro.

A quirky little museum I came across by accident. The museum is in the house were the brother & sister sculptor & artist lived. There is not a great deal to see but if you love looking inside old Bucharest houses then try to view. There is a pleasant small garden where you can contemplate & have a rest. Costs 80 pence for adults & 20 pence for seniors to visit.

This is a small but important museum, set in the Storck house showing a good selection of both his and his wife's work. One studio has beautiful murals and the other sculpture. There are many different architecture in Bucharest, this is built in a Germanic style and a fine house.
All in all a great collection of art and a lovely house. Not to be missed
nearest Metro is Piata Victoriei, walk down Lascar Catargiu bld. After the Italian restaurant Trattatoria Buongiorno turn left on to Strada Grigore Alexandrescu. Walk along this road until you reach Strada Vascile Alecsandri. Turn right and the museum is on the left. May sound like a long way but is actually about 20 mins from the Metro.
Besides the entrance fee there is a charge for photos, but the charges are minimal (entrance fee was 5 lei)

Me and my family came here on the Night of the Museum. The artworks are superb, especially the sculptures (i am not a big fan of the paintings inside here but art is subjective). It's bad that the place, not being well looked after, gives you a little coldness. With proper work and some renovation, this could be a great attraction.

i visited the house first time 20 years ago. Returning now on a sunny spring day, it is as lovely as i remember it. Most of the art inside is done by the Storck family starting with Karl in late nineteenth century, lots of sculptures made by Frederic his youngest son, all paintings done by Frederic's wife Cecilia. The collection is all here since they were living in the beautiful house they built and decorated 100 years ago. Only the ground floor can de visited, 5 rooms in which they would do the work and organize art workshops. You will need max 1 hour to visit. I recommend you take the guided tour, it is 100% worth it. The lady custodian is very knowledgeable and helpful. The house itself is beautiful, Tudor architecture, similar with the Minovici engineer villa (a bit farther in the north part of Bucharest), but painted in an unusual Pompei red color. Unfortunately the access to the garden was now restricted. Go there on a sunny day when there is plenty of light.

I would not have thought of seeing so many wonderful things, the sculptures of the two Storck, Karl and Frederic, as well as the paintings of Cecilia Cutescu-Storck. In only 5-6 rooms you will see the 5-star Romanian art, a collection belonging to the Cuţescu-Storck family, which has succeeded several generations of artists.
The house will attract your eyes as soon as you see it in the neighborhood through the wood beams and the dark-red color. It was donated to the Romanian state by the heirs who dwell in Paris (sculptor) and in Norway (architect). I'm older, but I always come and live in the half that still belongs to them. You can admire the sculptures of Eminescu and Goethe's head. The main room is large and fully decorated with murals, including the ceiling. It is quite loaded, but reveals the sumptuous taste of Storck artists. There is even a small fountain, quite unusual for an interior. Here, there are several nude paintings by Cecilieie and some sculptures by the two Storck. In the former painting workshop I have caught the attention of many even gigantic sculptures of Domna Balasa, Spatar Mihail Cantacuzino and even of a "Pietrar". Do not hesitate to visit this place of "value". Look for it on Vasile Alecsandri Street no 16, you can easily reach Bd, Lascar Catargiu to Victory Square and you will easily make it to the left. The price is modest: 5 lei, almost 1 EUR.
