Let me tell you, the sunset here is EVERYTHING." 🌅 I hit up Cinta Costera for a walk after a busy day, and I swear it felt like the whole city slowed down for me. The views are absolutely breathtaking, and the vibe? Just electric. Perfect spot for a stroll, a bike ride, or even just to sit and people-watch. If you're into sunsets, this is the place where your IG feed goes from "eh" to "YES." 😎 #SunsetGoals #PanamaCityVibes #CintaCosteraMagic

On a Sunday morning during our trip to Panama City, my wife and I decided to rent a couple of E-Bikes ($35/Day including helmet and lock @ Panama Bike Rentals near Eastern end of Cinta Costera).
Overall, it was a great experience, although if you do it on a Sunday morning the bike and walking path will be much more crowded than on any other morning of the week. While the entire ride is relatively flat, it was still nice to have an E-Bike because, if you're like us, the temperature/dew point/humidity is a killer!
There are plenty of benches and such during the ride to stop and rest or take photos. In addition, there was no shortage of people selling cool, refreshing beverages and/or treats, so don't forget your cash!
One thing to mention, just in case there aren't a lot of other people on the path to follow, going from downtown towards the Amador Causeway, when you get to the end of the Cinta Costera bike/walking path (you'll come down a little ramp and to the left will be the highway and to the right you'll see the Lime Green Highrises in the "La Chorilla" part of town (they look pretty run down, lots of laundry hanging from the balconies, etc.).
CROSS THE HIGHWAY to the other side and turn right to head out on the Causeway -- don't get confused and head towards the Green Highrises, as that's an area you probably don't want to accidentally wander into.
Same thing on your way back, but in reverse. You'll have to cross the highway (even though signs say not to), then when you're back across, turn immediately to the right to go back up the ramp and back onto the Cinta Costera trail back towards the city.
We spent a little over 3 hours to make the round trip, which included several little stops for pics or just to enjoy the views. Since the e-bike rentals were $10/hour or $35/day we think it was a better bet to pay for the day so there's no reason to try to rush anything.
Overall, it was a great experience and we're glad we did it.

Coastal tape good for walking and doing some sport, but be careful that security is terrible we were robbed and the cops did nothing, on one of those courts. To all tourists be careful with their belongings, if they do any sport on any of the courts be aware of their bags or someone watch them.

It is a trail that borders the sea with a walking lane and one for bicycles. Walking there you have good views of the old town on one side and the tall buildings of the city on the other.
To get there you have to cross the bridges that cross the highway. There are bridges every several blocks and from these you have good views of the bay and buildings to take photos.
It is a nice walk to do in an afternoon after visiting the Old Town, Miraflores Center or Gatun Lake. The trail and park are in very good condition.

We recently visited Cinta Costera and were pleasantly surprised by how clean and vibrant the area was! Given what friends had told us about their experiences a few years ago, we expected to find a litter-strewn mess. Instead, we discovered a beautifully maintained space brimming with life. The trash was all contained in bins, and the surroundings were spotless.
Walking from the Paitilla Hotel to Casco Antiguo was a fantastic experience. Not only did we get some great exercise, but we also had the chance to mingle with locals. Everyone we encountered was friendly, offering smiles and warm greetings of "hola." The atmosphere was lively, with families, joggers, and cyclists all enjoying the open space.
Cinta Costera is definitely a highlight of our trip, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience the heart of Panama City. It’s a perfect blend of exercise, culture, and stunning views!

Excellent tour along the Pacific shore entering the bay by the Coast Cinta. Safe road for cyclists and pedestrians with great viewpoints for pictures of the old town and Punta Paitilla and Punta Pacífico.

During our trip to Panama City, my wife and I decided to walk back to our hotel from Casco Viejo. It was evening time, just before sunset. I figured if things started looking sketchy, we could order an Uber. However, my concerns were unjustified.
As we passed the Mercado Publico del Marisco (Fish Market), we entered the park. The park runs as a thin strip of land between a blue seawall facing the Bay of Panama and the Pan-American Highway. Our hotel was less than a ten minute walk from the eastern end of the park, providing a leisurely hour-long walk from Casco Viejo to our hotel.
Although it was sunset, the park was crowded with people. The park has both walking paths as well as a designated lane for bicycles. Fitness was a major theme throughout the park as runners and cyclists sped past or enjoyed fitness equipment maintained by the park authority. Even with the sun hanging heavy over the Pacific, the park felt safe.
Vendors lined the walkways offering a variety of street foods, gifts or local crafts. The vendors were starting to pack up as evening approached, but there were still plenty of stalls open as we traversed the park.
We stopped along the seawall to take photographs both directions, capturing the Casco Viejo neighborhood as well as downtown Panama City. Locals were feeding cats and raccoons that appear to live within the concrete erosion jacks that lined the beach beyond the seawall.
My first impression was that I have never seen a cat eat a cheese puff before. But I also wondered how healthy it was to feed junk food to cats and raccoons. I did not see any signs not to feed the animals, but I think junk food is not a good idea. I was able to snap a few photos of the animals, but was also cautious as I know raccoons are prone to carry diseases. They looked healthy, but no need to tempt fate.
We finished our stroll through the park as darkness settled across the city. A pedestrian walkway just beyond the park allowed us to cross safely over to our hotel across the Pan-American Highway.
The park is free. It also appeared to be safe, and popular. I would definitely recommend a visit. You can also take your photo at the iconic Panama sign located within the park!

The best time to take panoramic photos of the city and views of the old town, is to go early in the morning to take advantage of the shadow, because then the sun and temperature rises quite a lot and you cannot walk😅

I toured it starting from the seafood market to Megapolis Outlet Plaza, its views of the city are incredible, great atmosphere, lots of local food (street vendors), souvenirs, crafts, etc. you can find along the way.
It has its spaces dedicated to each activity such as: cycle path, running track, basketball/soccer courts and outdoor gym, there are even bathrooms (too bad they were not open), it is an excellent option to get to know the city on foot and see the spectacular views of the buildings.

The place offers fantastic opportunities for exercise and provides a stunning view of the city's waterfront. However, it is imperative that immediate action is taken to address the alarming amount of trash present.

We are considering renting bikes and cycling around Cinta Costera. How difficult is it to get on to the walkway? Are there pedestrian crosswalks for walkers and cyclists? And what about getting back to the cycling shop from the other end…is it through a safe area where we can ride without danger of getting run over or mugged?

Hi, its a boardwalk style. Its fairly new smooth paved road. The streets are biker/ cyclist friendly. Panama is safe BUT you may see some homeless people on the cinta costera just hanging out. They do not bother at all. i have been to Panama 6 times and have NEVER felt unsafe. People are friendly and helpful.

We are seniors. Flying into Panama City from Houston in February. We need a low-stress entry place to relax upon arrival. Any idea for something low cost and safe?

Hello Jo Ann
Panama City is relatively safe. Areas like El Cangrejo has lots of eating establishments and less costly hotels. Check out Toscana Inn, Hampton by Hilton and The Saba along via Argentina. You might also want to consider staying near MultiPlaza (Courtyard by Marriott) or Allbrook Plaza (Wyndham Panama) for convenience.
Casco Viejo is a very safe, beautiful and fascinating place to visit but bear in mind that hotels in and around Casco Viejo ranges between mid-range to expensive and noise level in this UNESCO heritage site can get pretty loud on Fridays and Saturdays.
If you have not already then you should download Uber app on your phone. Getting around Panama will be at your fingertips and cheaper then a taxi.
We enjoyed our three visits to this beautiful city and hope you will too.

Bonjour,
Je logerais à The Executive Hotel, pourriez-vous m'indiquer où louer un vélo? Et si possible le prix ?
Est-ce dangereux la nuit?
Merci ?

Are you asking how much it would cost to do the Cinta Costera in a taxi? You can get around panama city most places for about US$15. A taxi will just take you along the edge of it but on a busy street and you won’t see anything Because of the trees and foliage. Take a taxi to one end of it (central city)and then walk as far as you want. You’ll be walking along the sea wall so you could look out into the bay at the islands. On the city side of you there will be vendors and beautiful plants lots of people walking or biking. If you choose not to walk the full 4 1/2 km hail a taxi to take you down to the other end where fisherman’s market is. Have a wonderful feed of seafood! Somebody mentioned on this site that there weren’t many bathrooms and truthfully we didn’t have to use one but I think they’re right. We didn’t see any. But if you’re in panama you have to do this. You could actually have a cab take you down the Amador causeway when they pick you up on the Costera and bring you back to the fisherman’s market for lunch. Just a 20 minute ride return if you don’t get out. And the taxi ride is not going to be any more than $20 return trip. Ask before you get in the cab and tell them that you’re not gonna pay any more than $20. Actually try $15 first. The costera and the causeway are 26 km return. I did it on bike and it was just amazing. Let me know how you do on your trip
