‪I visit the Shrine few times during the year to attend the healing mass. I always spend no less than two to three hours between the service, walking around the beautiful grounds, checking the store, and praying and lighting a candle at the Chapel of Light. It is an important and meaningful pilgrimage for me, that brings me peace, joy, and healing from the life struggles. The place is beautiful, and it's surrounded by woods, so it's a restorative trip as you reconnect with God, our Spiritual Mother Mary, and nature. They hold the beautiful Festival of Lights every Christmas season. It's wonderful to walk around seeing the Christmas lights while having a cup of hot chocolate. I highly recommend visiting this place, and don't miss it on Christmas time. ‬

‪O santuário fica belíssimo na época do Natal, é visitado por pessoas de todo o estado e fora dele. É um espetáculo de luzes que nos leva a respirar seu ar sagrado, impossível não ser tocado por Deus.‬

‪The lights are beautiful and elegant, with an emphasis on the Christmas message.
Take the time to walk through both sides of the property, and reflect on the meaning of the season‬

‪I and my family lived 10-12 miles from "LaSalette" and as a child, this was "real" Christmas. My mom would bundles us up, if we were lucky it would be snowing, and head up to the Shrine, mostly at night. If you want a memorable and truly traditional way to feel the spirit, this is one of the best ways to do it. There was never any admission charge, just beautiful art through sculpture and display. I was a child of 8 or 9 and I am a child of 61 now, that's how much of an imprint and memory of Christmas it made upon me. Do go, dress for the season, it is a lifetime memory waiting to be made. The last time I visited was December of 1974.‬

‪Caught the 3pm concert with Fr Pat, followed by 4 pm Mass, followed by a leisurely walk around the beautifully lighted grounds of the Shrine. Spent about 3 hours there. Didn’t hit any of the horrendous traffic by arriving for 3 pm and leaving around 630pm.
Very beautiful way to celebrate Christmas. Would be a lovely trip to take with small children.I wish I had known about this event when my kids were young.

‪I had heard of La Sallete for many years but my travels never allowed a visit during the evening. The night of our visit had us showing up twenty minutes before closing. We thought, perhaps we could just do a drive-by rather than missing the experience altogether
The drive-by would have been inspiring enough.
The police officer's directing traffic waved us in, we found a parking space in the crowded parking lot and we hustled to the right of the main buildings to take in as much as we could.
Angels, the creche, statues of Jesus, Mary and Joseph brought back the reason for the season.
The lights- many different than I had ever seen were high in the trees, low in the bushes, all over the branches and hanging from branches.
Large camels, trumpets, and colors galore called to us to keep moving and take in what we could.
The air was crisp, the sounds of children ahead of us being thrilled with the experience made us stop and feel how fortunate we were to be there.
generations of families were walking together and taking in the experience.
On the left side of the parking lot the partially frozen pond reflected the lights around it, the rides and food.
I could have sat on the benches and looked out and still not have taken in the experience for some time.
I never got to go into the main building but I am filled with gratitude for the half hour we were able to spend there.
The people who put this all together should be commended.‬

‪Even though I am not now, nor have I ever been, any kind of Christian, the shrine and the Christmas Festival of Lights is an inspiring low-key display of other people's faith in good. It is most assuredly suitable for people of all ages.

The Shrine, which is the American home of a Catholic religious order, commemorates the apparition of Our Lady of Reconciliation to two French shepherd girls in 1846, and it and its grounds are a place of peaceful quiet. The highlight is the annual Festival of Lights, from Thanksgiving to after New Year's Day, which features a tremendous number of illuminated scenes depicting many aspects of Christian belief and practice around which people stroll. As others have commented, for a great many families a visit to see the lights is an annual tradition. I should mention that part of the shrine does have something of a secular element, with a fried dough stand and a merry-go-round.

The shrine is located off Route 95 about halfway between Providence and Boston; it's somewhat confusing to find, so check on a map or GPS for directions (and if you're making this a side stop on travelling between the two cities, check on a GPS for directions on how to get back to I-95). Because it IS very popular, it's better to visit on a weekday evening. While the shrine does feature a cafeteria (as well as a gift shop and snack bar), Wetherlaine's is a pleasant, cozy reasonably priced bar & restaurant on the way back to I-95.

There is no charge, although donations are welcome.‬

‪This place is a re creation of what the season is about. It has an indoor and an outdoor portion. The indoor contains a chapel, gift shop, cafeteria and prayer room . In addition, there is a candle room for lighting a candle you can purchase or bring. The outdoors is a gorgeous lit display depicting the events surrounding Christmas as contained in the bible. There is also a fun portion for children....I recommend warm clothes and warm boots! (gloves as well); One should drive over at daylight and wait untill 5pm, when the lights come on. If you go over during the dark, you will sit in traffic for miles.‬

‪We visited the Christmas Festival of Lights the day after Christmas to keep up the beautiful holiday spirit we had this year. They used 300,000 lights. If I guessed how many, I would have said a million. We were at the top of the property when the lights were lit at 5 PM. What a magnificent sight. It took us about an hour to walk around and the weather was perfect. I highly recommend visiting LaSalette’s Festival. Beautiful experience.‬
