‪Museum within a museum‬

‪Always good to see local culture, but go upstairs and there is a museum of Dubrovnik as a tourist centre.
JAT [Jugoslavia Aero Transport] old photographs, really retro and interesting and something a bit different.
Buy a Dubrovnik card and there is free entry.‬

‪One of the better museums‬

‪The Cultural Historical Museum is located in the Rector's Palace and is one of the better museums in Dubrovnik. There are a lot of historical artifacts from Croatia, including weapons, furniture, and clothing items. I find the building to be the highlight of the museum and the grand staircase. There is a small dungeon in here and a few floors to explore. If you have time for one museum, I Recommend adding this one to the list, it should be included with the Dubrovnik Card.‬

‪Good museum ‬

‪We brought the Dubrovnik card and this was included with it, the museum is small like many in the old city but it makes up for it with the stunning architecture and they do a good job getting everything across to you without the use of audio guides. All the staff where friendly and knowledgeable and happy to engage and talk with visitors. ‬

‪We enjoyed our walk around the museum however didn’t learn too much about the items in each room. When we visited the room with all the historical coins, a member of staff named Denis kindly informed us of their history in a genuine yet informative way. He was so lovely, you should go just to witness his knowledge!‬

‪Best museum in Dubrovnik‬

‪The Cultural-Historical Museum is located in the Rectors Palace and is included in the Dubrovnik Card Package. The building itself is a beautiful, historical place and worthwhile visiting on its own. There are three floors of exhibits ; a court room and dungeon on the ground floor. The upper floors have different displays of weapons, uniforms, coins and absolutely gorgeous furniture. I was particularly fascinated with a couple of rooms full of safes or strong boxes with intricate lock-systems, minutely decorated. Finally, their collection of icons is wonderful.
Of all the "free inclusions" on the Dubrovnik Card, this museum is by far the best and warrants buying the card instead of just paying to walk the Muralles.‬

‪Quick and very informative ‬

‪If you enjoy learning about the history of a place when you visit (and, let’s be honest, why come to Dubrovnik if you don’t want to know its history), this museum is the place to go in Dubrovnik. Even better, it’s free with a Dubrovnik Card. Don’t plan on a lengthy stay at the museum; I was there maybe an hour and I like to read about the exhibits (all info is available in English, a huge plus). For the budget-conscious and time-conscious, this museum gives you a lot of bang for your buck, so to speak. You’ll learn a good bit about the Dubrovnik’s history (far more than you can glean from a Wikipedia article) and get to see inside the Rector’s Palace (which alone would be worth the visit). ‬
