‪You should be informed that you should come before 16 because in another way you will not be able to visit the museum. Despite the fact that the museum is open until 17, we came after 16 and we were not allowed into the museum.‬

‪In one of the former barracks of the Petrovaradin Fortress you will find the Novi Sad City Museum.
Established in 1954- as says the sign - it is open for visiting from 9 o'clock in the morning - for a fee of about 300 or so dinars.
It is not very extensive but for sure you will spend between 1 and 2 hours.
If you are into history I would say it will be interesting to you - and into military history.
It is not very big but for sure it is very interesting and definitely gives you an insight about the history of Novi Sad and Petrovaradin fortress.
The only detractor for the tour's value is the fact that not all the items on display have there english description so unless you can read and understand serbian / cyrillic some of the explanation will remain a mystery - or you can use a software for translation.
If you are in Petrovaradin check out the Novi Sad city museum - it is worth it for sure.‬

‪City Museum of Novi Sad is a museum located in the Petrovaradin Fortress, in the second biggest town of Serbia. It is a very interesting museu, where you can learn about the recent history of Novi Sad (from the end of 19th Century to nowadays) and you can read about the NATO bombing in 1999 in the city, where some bridges were destroyed, so it is an interesting perspective, of you are interested in the rich history in this part of Europe.
Also, here you can see buy the tickets to do a guided tour in the Catacombs, which is also very interesting.

‪We visited museum while ecperiencing the trip to fortress and decided to take a look at the museum aswell. The most interesting about the museum is the water well below the museum with the tunnel. Above in the first floor, there is a classic museum about Novi sad and its history. Great presentation.‬

‪I only admired the building from the outside and I liked the pale green color with which it is painted. And here, as in many museums in Serbia, it is a problem to understand the exhibits because there are no English translations. Maybe, after Serbia will be the U.E. country. Until then - we will only admire the outside of museums.‬

‪During our stay in Novi Sad we visited the city museum and the catacombs of the Petrovaradin Fortress, a tour we booked from the reception of the establishment. The museum is in the main building of the fortress which is located on a hill and is visible from everywhere in the city. The view from up there is breath-taking. You will get a chance to see a glimpse of the history of the area, dating from the neolithic period. At the time of the visit there were two featured exhibitions, artillery cannons that were used during the great war and picture drawings from local elementary schools. The catacombs were an overwhelming sight, nothing like we had seen before and the tour guide did an exceptional work; his knowledge around the subject was more than adequate but where he exceeded in information, he lacked in sense of humor. He made too many Kardashian-related jokes for some reason. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and I would definitely recommend it to other travelers.‬

‪I really can’t see the point. A couple of rooms and a tunnel. That’s your lot. The staff (no English guides that day) tried harder to hide in their little office than to help.
There is another tour you can take, but I’m sure it’s much of the same.‬

‪This museum is a treasure. Situated near the Petrovaradin Fortress, it is best/convenient to visit the two at once.

Even though the place is a bit smaller than we anticipated, it proved well worth the money.

If you're into the history of the region or a fan of military history, this museum is a stop you'll want to make while in town.‬

‪The Museum is a combination of the city's historical Museum and the military Museum. The most interesting part of the exhibition is connected with the well-preserved water supply system of the fortress in case of its siege. Also impressive are the remains of an ancient boat, carved from a single trunk of a huge tree.‬
