Gurdić Gate – ist eine historische Sehenswürdigkeit im Stadtzentrum. Das Tor im Mauer hat damals als Eingang in die Stadt gedient.

La Porta Gurdich ha rappresentato il nostro ingresso nella città di Kotor. Successivamente abbiamo scoperto che l'ingresso principale della città conduce direttamente alla piazza dove è la Torre dell'Orologio. La porta Gurdich merita comunque una visita perché è molto caratteristica e si può anche salire gratuitamente sulle mura che la sovrastano.

Este é o portão Sul de Old Town.
Por aqui entram e saem menos pessoas pois o acesso central é através da Sea Gate.
Pessoalmente, foi a entrada que mais gostei pois este portão tem ainda visível o mecanismo que fazia levantar/baixar a ponde levadiça em Madeira. Data de 1470 a sua construção.

One of the access gates in Old town. Quite well preserved. You can climb up on it for a beautiful view of the area. From here, you can continue your route along the crest of the wall, along the seashore. The view is beautiful.

We visited the Gurdich Gate whilst walking around the old city area in Kotor on a one day stop in the city on a Thursday in June. Arriving on a cruise ship, having never been here before we had opted to explore the port on our own due to its close proximity to the ships berth.
The gateway is a truly imposing work of Venetian fortification and with its high mountain backdrop is reminiscent of a fantasy stronghold. The area is very photogenic and we continued from here around the harbour to gain some clear shots of our cruise ship anchored there.

Tuesday 14th June we visited the Old Town of Kotor. Walking along the narrow paved streets of the Town, we soon found ourselves here at the South Gate (Gurdić) or Gurdich. It is named after the small river adjacent to it.
It is a tall narrow gate with a small wooden drawbridge which crosses the Gurdic Spring. The Gate and it's impressive Bastion and Town walls create a formidable sight by the waters edge.
The bastion protects the drawbridge, the Gate with a heavily fortified passage leading to the Town.
The Gate was constructed in 1550s and it is connected to the North Gate by Craftsmen Street.
This area was not as busy as other sections, so time to enjoy at your leisure.

Eines der Tore, die früher in die Stadt führten. Sieht hübsch aus, ist heute aber kein Eingang mehr. Der Haupteingang nach Kotor liegt am Glockenturm.

Entrando a Gurdich Gate sembra di fare un salto indietro nel tempo. Le robuste mura di Kotor, si specchiano nelle tranquille acque verdi del fossato, per poi inerpicarsi sulla montagna.
Da qui è possibile salire sulle mura basse (gratuitamente) per proseguire sopra la porta principale (veramente interessante vedere le frotte di turisti che scendono dalle navi da crociera per infilarsi attraverso la porta nella vecchia città :-( ) e scendere sui bastioni nord della città.

It does not cost to walk the wall. It will take you about 7-8 minutes to walk to the Gurdich Gate. Highly recommend it.

Hi, what is the best way to get from the cruise ship tender docking area to the Gurdich gate ? is it walking distance ? we are considering starting our walk through town from there.

Yes, it's walking distance, just across the street. It will take you 5 minutes from the ship to the gate.
