‪Located in Clifton Karachi, Pakistan. A Hindu Marwari businessman built it in 1927 for his summer home of Mohatta, from what is now the modern-day Indian state of Rajasthan.

The entry fee is very minimal and there is a museum inside in this to see the history. A must-do thing when you are in Karachi. ‬

‪Beautifully serene palace away from the craziness of the city this old palace is a great place for an hour. It’s only 30 rupees for entry and the museum inside is great showcasing different exhibitions from around Pakistan.

Note that cameras & phones cannot be taken into the exhibitions. Take the time to sit in the garden for a while before leaving. ‬

‪Mohatta Palace takes you back to a royal time. We toured the palace and it was a great historical experience. Exhibits change every so often. There is a small gift shop inside as well! We also attended a private musical event (pre-Covid). The site is very well maintained.‬

‪this place is about a 100 yards away from my grandparent’s house which still is in possession of my family. I spent time here as a toddler and came back after decades of absence with my youngest child. For Pakistan this is a historically relevant building since it was inhabited by Mohammed Jinnah’ s sister who at some point also must have been present here. It was also later the location of the foreign office of Pakistan. For all visitors of Karachi it is a worthwhile visit since it is quite well kept and surrounded by well maintained gardens. The museum offers portraits of Karachi socialites from the higher echelons. The whole exhibition can be handled in 30 minutes after which you can either walk and rest in the garden or as in our case, just walk back home and relax.‬

‪The Mohatta Palace is a jewel in Pakistan’s heritage which has been extensively remodelled. It tells the story of the civilisations prior to the formation of the state of Pakistan, and there are guides who will regale you with the relevance of all of the historical sites amalgamated here. Nice peaceful place with loads of history but not up to the standard of many a museum elsewhere in the world.‬

‪We have visited this before also and it's good to see that it is maintained very well. There is a guide to take us around the exhibition being held. Small sovenaire shop is there. It's a must visit to see the heritage of Karachi. ‬

‪It is a great museum that's extremely easy on the wallet as well. Rs. 30 entry with no time limit. Once you're done with the exhibitions, you can hang out in the garden (which is beautiful and very well maintained!)
You have to turn in your cell phones when you go see the exhibit inside.

The air conditioning is great which keeps the exhibits safe. The staff is very polite and helpful.

There's a cute little gift shop. But beware, the staff that runs it takes really long break‬
