Relaxing boat ride over to the garden followed by an excellent lunch in the restaurant. Explored on my own time, no rush, lots of time to take photos of the flowers, butterflies and views.

その昔、王族が所有していた敷地を使って造成された植物園です。市内からボートで送迎してくれます。熱帯の植物に興味がある方なら、さらに楽しめるはずです。中には、自然派のカフェもあります。

At a cost of US$25 each, this wasn't the cheapest thing to do in Luang Prabang, but it was good value. Different sections to the gardens, including plants used for medicinal purposes, poisonous plants, Bamboo plants, Palms, and lots more. The restaurant is also good, if a little pricey - but you are a captive audience once at the gardens. The boat ride, taking about 15 minutes each way, adds to the experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the botanical gardens. We spent a very peaceful few hours visiting Budha in the cave and wandering through the gardens which are beautifully laid out with clearly labelled plants. Our lunch was delicious in a stunning setting by a small lake. Highly recommend visiting.

Paid $25 per person including boat ride down river to the gardens. Nice boat ride.
Arrived and got map and intro to the gardens.
Walked through along the well laid out path, interesting plants pretty well labeled, but many lacking description of uses. Especially the trees. Names only.
Get to the cafe, prices double that of riverside Luang Prabang. And you are captive, you can't go somewhere else.
Ok. Go for the Bamboo making lesson, am the only one, told "There's no one else, so it's cancelled". The same for the Orchid lecture.
Have some questions about some plants, etc. that I've seen. " Sorry, I'm an administrator, there's no one here to help you."
Leave, feeling that I've been ripped off.

Take the 15 minute boat ride from town to see the gardens but you must have lunch at the Cafe. The food was exquisite. The staff were excellent.You sit overlooking the lotus pond.

A lovely way to spend a morning or afternoon wandering around the gardens. For the more energetic there is a stiff walk up to the caves and for the less energetic a good cafe.

Spent a few hours here, very quiet & relaxing. Well laid out, restaurant has a lovely setting overlooking a lily pond. Good Lao food, staff very nice.
Not very well advertised - from town, walk with the Mekong on your right hand side - the ticket office is on the other side of the road. Young man, Nic, was very helpful, he got us a coffee while we waited for the next ferry - they run on the hour, return on the half hour. Toilets at the office, and of course in the gardens. Costs $25pp, which includes the 20 minute boat ride down the Mekong, as it’s on the opposite bank downstream.

Arrived by private boat that we scheduled at the reception office on the river front. All of the staff are delightful English speakers. Wandered through the park but we didn't give ourselves enough time to truly explore this beautiful place. Please give at least 2 hrs to enjoy this park. Had set lunch in the restaurant that was served quickly. Just the right amount of local food for us that was very tasty. Continued our journey down river by boat for about an hour to Kaung Si Falls. There is a short drive to the falls from the river through some villages. After the falls we returned to our boat and were ferried back to the starting point. Can recommend this package if you want a nice relaxing day of nature.

This is an offbeat choice for a thing to do in Luang Prabang. The steep entrance fee makes it only for those who might be interested in plants and gardens of this type in general. 25 USD I feel is quite steep - however it does include a 15 minute scenic boat ride to and from the gardens.
The information as the reception where I bought the ticket definitely felt misleading - I was told the boat came every 30 minutes, but infact it runs every hour. I ended up waiting a fair bit to get on the boat..
The starting section of the garden is fabulous.
It was lovely to read about local plants and how the locals use them for various ailments - very informative and interesting.
There is a hill you can go up to for a view point - you can skip this if you don't want to make too much of an effort - it is an OK view
The but for me is the fact that the rest of garden didn't quite live up to the standard of information they set-up right at the start - this is where I literally zipped through and the 25USD did not make sense. The bamboo area, the palm area - if you like plants/gardens - you have seen a lot of them already then. I would have enjoyed more information to engage in the other areas of the garden.
The food at the cafe was lovely - very mellow flavours..
The cafe overlooks a lovely pond making for a great place to stop by and chill..
Wear good shoes..and you can spend about 2-3 hours here

Hi. The garden is all outside and has hundreds of species of plants. Nature determines when they choose to bloom so we cannot guarantee which ones will at any given time. However, the variety among even the various leaf forms, size and colour guarantees a stunning display all year round. We hope to impress you in February!

Is it permitted to bring dogs into the botanic gardens?
yes, it is fine and welcome your dogs to visit our garden but would you mind because we also have a dog at Botanical garden i thought no fighting of them

What kind of activity at this place can offer for teenagers as they might find it less interesting?
sorry for a late reply your question, we have 3 free activities at our Botanical Garden first one is bamboo handicraft how to learn about making animal at Baci sala we thought your teenagers are interesting,the second we have free herbal tea tasting at Cafe restaurant and last one is orchid talk at nursery we talk about the flowers how to plant , giving water, when is growing up.

Can anybody compare this to other botanic gardens that aren't priced so expensively? (Free Singapore, Free Sydney, Cheap Sri Lanka) I like botanic gardens but not for over $5 to see plants.

we are not sponsored by government like all the other gardens you mention but exist entirely from entrance fees to maintain our garden. we also publish books for lao children, organise trainings for students on many subjects and have many conservation actions etc etc. which all are paid for by visitor entrance fees.
Not to mention the boat service we provide to come visit the garden
i hope this answers your query and that you can understand all the hard work that has been put into creating this garden for over 7 years !
