Going to the US, I expected public transport to be not that great in a city relatively small like Ann Arbor is. However, as a college town, AA has a pretty good bus system. The bus fares are quick inexpensive, 1.50 USD, or even included in your M-Card if you're enrolled at the university. Buses are fairly on time - you can also check online if and how much your bus will be delayed. The bus drivers are incredibly nice.
Two things would greatly improve the service, however: first, make sure that the bus stops not only indicate which route is served but also the direction (or end stop of that line). It's sometimes not clear to non-locals which bus will go where, even if you've found a bus stop. Second, one more "hub" apart from the Blake Transit Center could potentially reduce the waiting time for a connection greatly. Sometimes it takes you forever to get to a place that would be 10min by car. That's unfortunately where the cab services tend to kick in.

I travel daily on the bus, and they have good connections, and mostly run on time with the exception of some inclement weather. I have found the staff to be professional and courteous.

I expect to be taking the bus from Ann Arbor to the airport next week. But my great experience started today. I left my cell phone at the 2700 S. Industrial Highway location today pretty close to closing time. By the time I discovered it was missing and we made a few wrong turns, it was after 5:00. But two lovely kind women waited past 5:00, unlocked the door and handed me my phone. What they didn't know was that I was in town to help a friend through his cancer surgery tomorrow. Stressful enough but having the phone means I can contact his only child in China to let her know how things are going. Many many thanks.

I rode the bus to work for several years from a park and ride lot. Largely, the buses were on time and on schedule with some minor delays. If I had any concerns, I raised them with the ombudsman for AATA and the concerns were addressed appropriately. I found most of the staff who answered the phones to be helpful and knowledgeable, especially when I sought route information for a route I did not ride routinely. AATA is a very economical, safe and easy way to get not just to downtown Ann Arbor, but around Ann Arbor as well. I highly recommend it over trying to find parking in downtown Ann Arbor.

The Ann Arbor bus system has been recently upgraded with more service to outlying areas and more frequent buses. The service for Seniors (free on buses and lower priced door-to-door service) and the disabled is exceptional. The shuttle bus service to University of Michigan football games from local hotels is wonderful and convenient. The shuttles also operate during the Summer Art Fair week.

Recently expanded hours run to 10 or 11pm on weekdays. Very comprehensive routes through Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Free to UM students/staff, seniors (65+) and most downtown workers. Buses run every 15-30 min, more frequently in rush hour on heavily traveled routes, less on weekends and evenings. Each bus has room for 2 bicycle on the front.
Buses sometimes come early so make sure to arrive at your stop 5 min ahead of schedule. Real time info at mobile.theride..org

Excellent bus service. Reliable and with good coverage. Reasonably priced too. Clean and comfortable buses.

The Public Transportation here just keeps getting better It's a model for other cities to use. Clean buses and PROFESSIONAL drivers.

This is the best way to get to the Ann Arbor Art Fair. They pick up and drop off people on regular schedules. There are a couple places you can park away from downtown and catch the bus. Then you can get dropped off at either end of the fair. It's cheap and quite convenient!

I am excited and pleased to write as to how pleased I am with the AATA. We bought our home in Ann Arbor Michigan with little regard to how close it was to a bus stop. We drove everywhere and never considered taking the bus.
As traffic increased and the cost of running a car became an issue, my wife and I decided to sell one of our cars and start taking the bus. This has been such a pleasant experience that I am embarrassed that with didn’t do this years ago.
The buses are clean, the drivers pleasant and the buses come by so often that there is little waiting. I qualify for a Senior Pass so on top of everything else the ride is free.
So congratulation to the AATA and to Ann Arbor for having such a wonderful bus system.
