I have used guides before in Cambodia. Chet is the first one who speaks exceptional english, is very knowledgable, extremely attentive to the people guiding, has a very good SUV with great A/c, does his homework so if you give him art galleries or other places not normally visited, he learns where they are and is super prepared. In addition he stays with the car running so it is super cool when you get in and he is always ready. if he needs to come with you to ensure you are in the right place or set with the restaurant he does that. But he is always ready when you are ready. his points of contact are:

I vouch for him whereas i had two other gudes--ones english was horrible in phnom pehn and in siem reap one was not always on time, did not do his homework, and rarely was in the car when we were done and he did not answer his what's app so it took time to find him.

Ratanak was super knowledgeable about each of the 10 temples we saw over a two day period. He had an air-conditioned car in which he drove us around. He made everything feel so seamless and easy. He was very friendly and spoke perfect English. On the second day, my husband and I got food poisoning, but Ratanak was able to customize our schedule last minute to cater to our health and well-being. We highly recommend him to any group that is looking for the best guide in Siem Reap.

I contacted Custom Cambodia in August to book an excursion. The owner, listed below in all the reviews on Trip Advisor, confirmed that he would be in charge of my excursion. I had to reschedule my tour as the owner was busy and in order to book him based on his prior reviews, I was fine with accommodating his schedule. On the appointed day, he never showed up and sent a replacement guide. I enquired as to why he cancelled and he said he was busy and had no email to get in touch with me. I was later told by his replacement guide that he had no intentions of showing up on the first day and had booked the replacement guide 3 days prior. This company and it's owner are dishonest. They have little concern for their clients. There are many wonderful Angkor operators in Siem Reap - choose another company! You will be glad that you did!

Ratanak was recommended to us and I'm glad that we booked his services. Ratanak responded to all my emails promptly and helped us to plan a two and half day tour of Siem Reap to include temples, the land mine museum and a boat trip on the Tonle Sap which included a visit to a floating fish and crocodile farm.
There is much to see and do in this area and although we visited at a very busy time of year Ratanak's inside knowledge as to when to visit which temple and by which route helped us avoid the crowds and get the best possible experience and photos.
We had enough time at each place that we visited and never felt rushed. Ratanak's knoowledge of the history of the temples, the Angkorian people and their culture and religions brought the amazing temples and their carvings to life.
The weather was as hot as expected so we were glad of being driven around in a cool air conditioned car and water was supplied. We stopped for lunch at local restaurants as suggested by Ratanak and at each place we had an excellent meal.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Ratanak, he was punctual on picking us up from our hotel each day, and he was friendly, informative and had a great sense of humour.

We recently made a visit to Siem Reap and used Custom Cambodian Tours on the recommendation of some friends. We were certainly not dissapointed!
Ratanak was very helpful before we even arrived in Cambodia and helped us to designe a three day itinerary that took in two days at the main temple groupings in and around Siem Reap and one day visiting the floating Villages on the lake and viewing the beautiful Cambodian countryside.
He was utterly reliable with his arrangements and provided a very nice, air conditioned car which was very welcome in the heat. The car was stocked with ample cold mineral water which was also welcome.
It was immediately apparent that Ratanak was very knowledgable about the temple sites and Khmer history which helped a great deal when trying to interpret what we were seeing. He was also aware of the best times to visit various sites to avoid the crowds which was a blessing.
Once in the temple sites he was able to show us lots of "hidden" items that you would have no chance of finding without a guide and also knew all the best spots to take pictures.
He is knowledgable, humerous, well informed and excellent company and it seemed that nothing was too much trouble for him even when we diverted from the plan to look at things that had grabbed our interest along the way.
If you are considering a visit, drop him a line and he will help you design an itinerary that will take in your interests. I cannot recommoned him highly enough!

Ratanak put together a two day programme for us in September that took us around the key temples and villages. He took on board our feedback in putting together the programme, particularly in finding fun things for our 7 year old to keep him amused.
We found Ratanak to be friendly, reliable, very knowledgeable about the sites we visited and he has a good dry sense of humour which made the journey all the more enjoyable. Having his own air conditioned car was a great bonus in the hot afternoons. We have no hesitation in recommending him.

My husband and I contacted this company after being stood up by another tour guide. Good thing! By 7 AM, David had already exchanged 4 emails with me and arranged for his brother, Ratanak to give us a tour of the main temples. We are so glad that our first tour guide did not show up, or we would have missed an opportunity to spend time with Nak. He and his brother grew up in Siem Reap and have a lot of background and context on how the city has been changing as Cambodia becomes a more popular tourist destination. He has intelligence and wit that crosses cultures and language.
Ratanak timed our tour so we would avoid as much of the crowds as is possible at a World Heritage Site. He is a Renaissance man, with knowledge of Cambodian history, best photo angles at the various temples, and witty humor.
While their rates are higher than other guides, you must factor in the fact that they come with their own air conditioned Lexus. Other guides do not have their own transportation, which means you have to pay an additional 20-30 for a driver or tuk-tuk. We highly recommend Custom Cambodian Tours for their responsiveness, deep knowledge, and general affability. The A/C is a plus too!

Ratanak Eath was recommended to me by a friend who had been guided by him around the Angkor temples, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to other people! I had three days in Siem Reap (in October 2014) and wanted to spend a couple of days exploring the temples around Angkor Wat. I travelled as woman on my own, so was particularly keen to find a guide that I felt comfortable with. Ratanak suggested a couple of itineraries for me to choose from, which was great. He was very knowledgeable (not just about the temples; more generally we had some very interesting discussions about Cambodia), spoke excellent English and was great company. He was prompt, attentive without being oppressive and always cheerful. Thank you for a great couple of days Ratanak!

I contacted a few tour guides based on excellent recommendations on TripAdvisor and their own website content.
Whilst all (eventually) came back with a suggested itinerary, Ratanak’s stood out as he replied promptly and suggested a logical tour.
The initial itinerary was a tad busy for us as we were a group of 6 with small children, parents and grand-parents – I hadn’t thought about this issue until I saw how busy we would have been in Cambodia’s stifling heat – but after informing Ratanak of this he was able to devise a simpler tour covering the main features of Siem Reap with some additional rest time for us!
It was a fantastic tour. Ratanak’s knowledge of the history and background of the various attractions is impressive. He was very informative, always explaining the features. He is also able to point out the smaller features of the temples which would otherwise be missed without a guide.
He is kind, courteous, is fully fluent in English, and is handy with a camera too, taking photos for us and pointing out some of the better angles to take photos from.
The kids loved visiting the temples with Ratanak and he entertained them throughout (he really earned his money here!!).
It is imperative to hire a guide when visiting Siem Reap and I would recommend Ratanak to any traveler visiting the area.
A special mention also to the driver Ratanak used for the duration, Darith, with his 11 seat air conditioned Mercedes minivan. Darith is a very good and safe driver, always smiling and happy, and also has very good English.

Ratanak Eath is a tour guide of high standards. Ratanak is a service-oriented, academically trained, and english speaking professional. He is flexible and very friendly with good expertise and sound knowledge of his profession.
He can easily adjust everything to individual needs and implement this with a smile. With Ratanak you can feel the ‘real Cambodia’.
We book Ratanak every year for our groups from the iicamp dot org (Intercultural Innovation Camp), and will continue to do so for the future.
