Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Medellin. Guatape is amazingly colorful and El Peñón looks like it fell from the sky. Marlon did a wonderful job as our tour guide, making the tour informative, easy, and fun. 10/10 recommend.

We had a great time doing the tour to comuna13. Our tour guide William knew so many stories and details about the graffiti and hiphop culture there and took us to many very interesting places, including a cable car ride. Thanks again to him for this really nice experience 😊we felt very safe all the time with him!

I cannot recommend this tour enough!!!
Communa 13 is amazing and the graffiti is incredible...but what really made this tour was Hernan and his knowledge of the artwork and the stories behind every piece. Hernan is a graffiti artist himself and used to teach Art at Medellin university and his insight into the artwork and history is second to none.
Hes also a local celebrity who knows everyone worth knowing, and we even managed to meet Chota when we had a drink at his bar for a photo.
This tour was best part of the best city in Comombia. Yes you might be able to go yourself and see the artwork...but its the stories and history behind it all that really makes it...and for that you want to be with the top guide in town!
Thanks Hernan, we hope to see you again one day. Steve and Ariane (Jan 2020)

Absolutely LOVED THIS TOUR! Our guide William was the absolut nicest guy and showed us the real Medellin! He took his time to explain us everything, introduced us to some local graffiti artists, beat boxers and breakdancers. It was fantastic. He also took lots of photos for us and shared lots of stories for his teenage years and what it was like in the 80s and 90s in Colombia. It was fascinating. Can only highly recommend it 🤩🤩🤩

This review is for the three tours that we took using BeColombia Tour Company. I will write them in order that we took each tour.
Comuna 13- We took this tour with Juan Pablo on our first day in Medellin.Juan Pablo met us at the metro station close to our hotel. Juan Pablo was a really cool person. He knew a lot of history and facts about Comuna 13 and he was pleasant to walk around with. You could tell that he is well liked in the community as he shook hands and greeted many of the locals and vendors. We always felt safe, never rushed and his english is perfect. He danced with some of the ladies in my group and answered any questions we had. You could tell that Juan Pablo is very passionate about what he does. Juan Pablo's told us how much fun the Guatape tour is and we had hoped he would be our guide the following day. I even asked the company if he could be the one assigned to us. Towards the end of the tour Juan Pablo took us for some paleta's at a famous place in Medellin. He even rode back with us to our metro station stop rather than leave us at the stop where we were supposed to meet in the first place.
Guatape & El Penol- We arrived at Poblado Park to meet our tor guide at 8:30am. We checked in with Yeison/Jason not sure how he spelled it because he never told us. He asked us what meal we would like for lunch and told us to get on the bus. We were on the bus for more than a half hour before we left. We didn't know why. He then got on the bus a little after 9 am and said there was something he needed to take care of before we left. Yeison then got on the bus and briefly explained what the day would consist of. When we got to our first stop he told us we could go use the bathroom and get something to drink. The bus was parked several feet away from the bathroom and the store. He didn't tell us where to go, that we needed money/coins to use the bathroom or anything. I can't agree with the other reviewers who said that Yeison was the best. In fact I totally disagree. He was dry, boring and had no sense of humor. He wasn't very informative and seemed annoyed if asked a question. He say on the Chiva bus and mostly talked to one woman who was in our group the whole time. He did the same when we were riding back from the tour. Yeison sat at the front of the bus and didn't explain anything. Most times when you're on a tour the guide will throw in bits and pieces of information about where we are at the moment or anything. The whole time Yeison lead the tour as if we knew what we were doing. He had this attitude like we were supposed to know everything. When we got to the Chiva he told us it was a little dangerous so we would ride at the bottom. Then in the middle of the ride we stop and we were confused when we were getting off and one of us asked where we were going and he said in an annoyed tone, "we are going to the top" if he had explained that we wouldn't of had to ask. At the coffee farm he disappeared for a few minutes while people were drinking coffee. The other thing, please bring snacks if you like your food hot. Lunch consisted of fiambre, it's basically a meal wrapped in some leaves, but the thing was it was cold. We had opted for vegetarian but others got the regular one so they were eating cold pork, just like we were eating cold noodles, hard rice, cold arepas and eggs. It wasn't good at all. We all were starving. When we got to Guatape we were able to buy things thankfully. In the town of Guatape, we had to use the bathroom so he told us to go into a restaurant and said meet us in the park up the street. He didn't wait for us and just left with the rest of the group. Again, as if we knew where we were and where to go. We wound up finding him and he was just finished explaining whatever it was he explained to the group and then we had to ask him to please repeat everything. We are pretty sure that he gave us the quick version and rushed us off. By the way, please be advised that there is a lot of steep hill climbing. On the way down to the boat it is pretty steep and the dirt is very slippery. On the boat he was drinking beer and so was the captain. I guess in Colombia that is ok. But it felt a bit strange to me. After the little self guided tour through the town of Guatape we met back at the square and took our bus to the Penol. He gave us our tickets and told us it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to climb up the 705 steps and sent us on our way. It did take us longer and the rest of the group wound up having to wait for us for a few minutes and when we got on the bus, he made a comment saying "we will probably get back after 7 pm, because we are late" He made it seem like it was our fault. But he's the one who started late when we left in the morning. On our way back one of the ladies had to use the bathroom and we stopped at a restaurant that was along the road. She used it quickly, but then Yeison got off the bus to order chorizo with arepa and that caused a chain reaction. All the other people got off the bus to order food and smoke cigarettes and so then we had to wait longer. But of course Yeison didn't say anything because he was busy eating. He also went to sleep on the way back. This tour would have been much more fun if we were with other people who didn't chain smoke the whole time and if we had a tour guide that actually cared about what he was doing.
Paragliding- This tour is booked through BeColombia but is run by another company called Vuelos Parapente Medellin. I'm hoping that they have a page here on trip advisor because I would like to review them separately. BeColombia Tours was not very informative when providing us the information. We were only told someone would pick us up at 8:30- 9:00. When the guy arrived he needed our passport numbers. When we got to the office the girl asked us if we brought jackets, we did not because nobody told us to. She said it gets a bit cold at the top. We also weren't told that they provide a GoPro for 45,000 cop to get pictures or that e could have brought our own GoPro. Everyone at Vuelos Parapente was very nice and made us feel comfortable. The person who picked us up and dropped us off said that it was his company. He was very nice. He answered a lot of questions we had and he even dropped us off a few blocks from our hotel at a restaurant that he recommended. The whole paragliding experience was amazing!! the pilots who take you up are nice, they make you feel safe and help you with the photos, but technically you're supposed to use the GoPro on your own.

We had such an amazing time with William exploring Comuna 13. He is such a knowledgeable guide for this community with so much insight and personal stories to share about the difficult past the residents went through. He is well known and respected by the locals and the hip hop community there and he did a fantastic job telling their story and helping us understand the meaning behind all of those stunning murals/graffities. We would love to do another tour with him. I would enthusiastically recommend him to anybody.

From the moment we met Hernan we knew we were with and art expert and a person who loved his home city of Medellín. Hernan brought us to Comuna 13 from Poblado and along the way explained the history and transformation of the city. I cannot recommend Hernan highly enough. The tour was a wonderful and educational experience.

I did the graffiti tour in Comuna 13 in Medellin with tour guide William. Already from when we meet it was clear that he had a lot to say about the transformation of Comuna 13, and a lot of interesting places to show. The tour included several means of public transportation. I especially liked the cable car that provided amazing views of the city. William has great knowledge about the area and its history. He also has many years experience from the hip hop community in Medellin and other places. I highly recommend doing this tour with William.
