I've been on quite a few walking tours in the US and Europe and this one was my absolute favorite. Our guide Juan was hilarious and did an amazing job of explaining the history of Medellin and Antioquia (which he also taught me to pronounce ha) while engaging everyone on our tour, which was no easy task since we had a large group from various countries.
I felt safe walking around downtown Medellin, and I'm so glad I took the advice of other travelers to book this tour at the beginning of our stay in Medellin because it helped put everything we saw and did into perspective. I think travelers who skip this tour are really missing out on a deeper understanding of Colombia and the people who live and come from this beautiful country.
This tour lived up to its name because Juan really did keep it real and answer our many questions that I would never dare to ask on a regular walking tour.

We have been on a few walking tours but this one was the best by a mile. Dio was amazing, we were all engaged for the full 3 hours and he made it interesting, authentic and fun. There were regular breaks and we loved it, thank you!

We took the Real City Free Walking Tour of Medellin with Julio. The other reviews are spot on with their praise of this tour and tour guide. It is literally the best tour I have ever taken. Julio is compassionate, knowledgeable, and extremely interesting. He cares deeply about Medellin as well as your experience visiting the city. I learned so much about the complicated history of Colombia and Medellin that provided valuable context for the rest of our trip. I can't recommend this tour enough. It should be the first thing you do in Colombia.

De tour was fantastisch, onze gids Pablo was ook geweldig. Het enige nadeel is zijn tijd management, ipv 3 uur deden wij er 4u over waardoor wij te laat kwamen bij onze tweede tour.

We took two tours with Diana of Real City Tours - the exotic fruits tour and the food tour of Laureles. These were some of the best, most fun, and most informative tours we’ve ever done. Diana has such an easy, friendly way of delivering so much information and we felt like we really got to know the people and way of life in Colombia better from spending this time in her group. She spent extra time answering questions and giving lots of background about the places we saw. 10 out 10 recommend these tours!

De local guide wist echt alles te vertellen over de stad Medellín, maar ook over het land, de geschiedenis en veel achtergrondinformatie. Hernan wist ons letterlijk alles te vertellen en deed dit met veel enthousiasme, soms een beetje te uitgebreid voor sommigen.. ;)

I really and truly could not be happier with this group. Our tour guide, Pablo, was AMAZING -- literally the best free walking tour guide I've ever had, and I've done as many such tours as I can across 5 continents. The information was interesting, relevant, and presented with fantastic storytelling. The tour company was super organized, very communicative, and made sure our needs were met at all times. The tour itself incorporated a break and opportunities to sit down, so it wasn't too much. This seriously could not have been better.

Perfect walking tour through the downtown area. Our guide German was terrific! From wowing us with this memory to his theatrical method of teaching, he provided a great service to us and his city, and the people of Colombia.

All of the Real City Tours are excellent. Most recently, my friend and I did the food tour with Julian and it was great. Even though I was already familiar with many of the foods, it was still very interesting and informative. Julian provided us with background information and history to put Colombia's most favorite foods into context. I learned a lot and had fun. I could not eat some of the food because of dietary restrictions but it did not matter. The tour is great whether you choose to eat the food or not. Highly recommend!

Was a short walk from the meeting point at the Minorista bus station, maybe 5 minutes. Spent the remainder of the tour, 2 and a half hours, or so, on our feet. Leisurely pace, with plenty of stops. Took a seat for a bit towards the end to enjoy some fresh juice and discuss another handful of fruits.
