We drove over this bridge twice, the first time was on Sunday 17th November, we were travelling by taxi from Manohar International Airport, Mopa, to South Goa.
The second time was on Sunday 15th December when we returned to the Airport.
The Bridge is named Atal Setu after former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee. It is also known as the Third Mandovi Bridge.
Driving across the bridge was an opportunity to look down on the mighty
Mandovi River. We could see vast array of boats on the River. This included large tankers, fishing boats, tour boats and cruise ships that sail up an down the River.
The cable stayed Bridge spans the River for 3,190 metres (19,470 feet) and links Panaji with Porvorim
A cable-stayed bridge is one where the weight of the deck is supported by a number of nearly straight diagonal cables in tension running directly to one or more vertical towers.
This bridge has four towers with a height of 30 metres (98feet) from where the steel supporting cables stretch down to support the bridge deck below.
The width of the bridge is 21 metres (69 feet) and it has four lanes, two in each direction. It comprises of multiple spans the largest of which is 150 metres (490 feet).
Construction of the bridge commenced on 27st July 2014 and completed at the end of December 2018 and officially opened on the 5th February 2019.
It is not permitted or safe to stop on the bridge so the photographs taken are from the back seat of the taxi.
There are a number of restrictions that stipulate that two and three wheeled vehicles, bullock carts and pedestrians are prohibited from using the bridge.
Parts of the Bridge were in need of some repairs so our passage over the Bridge was a bid bumpy in places.

The Atal setu bridge is not safe as it has potholes and risky to drive and two wheelers is a big treat to the 4 wheelers. The Sawant (BJP) Govt is doing nothing on it to repair the pot holes. Need to be vigilant on Twowheeles.

What a beautiful and wonderfully maintained bridge. The real beauty comes only during the night. Lighting is wonderful. Got a chance to cross it. Loved it.

It’s not a picnic spot or any watchable place. It’s a bridge well constructed sand the road is smooth. I personally liked while driving the view from the bridge.if any one passing that way. Park the car and just have a look.

The newly opened Atal Setu provides stunning view of Panjim & Porvorim areas. But you have to watch it while driving. Walking & waiting is not allowed. The bridge saves significant amount of time you would otherwise spend in the Panji traffic.

A new bridge on the Mandovi river in Panaji. It is one of the longest cable stayed bridge. Only 4 wheelers are allowed on the bridge and this new structure is partially going to take care of the traffic jam woes of Goa.Looks beautiful with the colourful lights switched on at night.
