Don't have courtesy to treat tourists.
We were short on time, wanted to click some pictures from the lawn, the unprofessional and ludicrous security team did not allow us to even click pictures and shooed us away. Pushed us to purchase tickets worth 375 INR per head to even take pictures from outside. The experience was extremely bad
Will not recommend this place

If you are in Baroda then this IS the place to visit. The entry fee is peanuts compared to what you get to see. The Durban hall is jaw dropping and you get to see around 7 original Ravi Verma paintings. The armoury has a dagger that belonged to Aurangzeb . They also have a collection of water swords- these were dipped in poison water during the manufacturing process. The place has around 150 rooms but you will get to see a handful. The audio guide has 11 stops but it was made with a lot of care. You will be able to finish it within 2 hours unless you are visiting the nearby step well.
I just wish the fountain in the courtyard was working. The audio guide said it’s in working condition. And the entrance needs more upkeep. You don’t want the pigeons to sit on the priceless art objects. Ignore the staff working in the palace. They are borderline rude.
If you are into art and want to see more Ravi Verma paintings then visit the Fateh Singh Museum.

An amazing place to visit. The place is beautiful but needs more upkeep. Amazing all the paintings and treasures in an unairconditioned space. Plan for around 3 hrs to visit

It's been months since I've visited this place, but the grandeur of the Darbar hall is something I'm not still over!
I had opted for the MP3 audio guide (the earphones need to be improved) so it was quite easy to navigate. The palace is quite beautiful and a lovely place to explore. I was excited to see the vav (the step-well) but they have taken it off the list, and we can't visit those parts of the ground anymore.
I had a cup of coffee and spent some time journaling at the tiny cafe inside the palace grounds.
I spent 3 hours on the palace grounds before heading to the Fatehsingh museum.

A good place to visit while at Vadodara.
The visitors are allowed in a small part of the Palace. Different rooms have different exhibits, which are well kept and labelled.
A complimentary audio guide helps you understand the exhibits. You have to choose the language - English, Hindi or Marathi. Photography is allowed only outside but not inside.
You can see the exhibits at your own pace. Please allow about 2 hours.
I would certainly recommend a visit to the Palace when in Vadodara.

Good nice palace with equally huge gardens and its own golf course.
Though only a very very small part of the entire palace is open for public display.
They have good AV and give you the Device with earphones to listen entire history & details about the Palace, its history, Royal Family and many things.
It hoes on & on for more than 2 hrs. However you just need 30-40 min to look at the area we are allowed to enter.
They have a nice small kiosk cafe inside.
Overall good.

Focusses on the Gaikwad royal family history and how this palace was built. The armoury section is something interesting to go through. There is a very good audio guide that explains each and every item in the palace tour. Worth a visit.

Rs.250 Charges is very high to visit some corner of the Palace.
Location is good but charges should be Rs.100 only
Don't waste money to visit this palace.

Must see. The architecture and the collection is amazing. However the local security people are very arrogant and insensitive to senior citizens

It all depends how much time u have, as going to Pavagadh/Champaner which is world heritage , rope way to Mahakali temple and back requires -3-hours provided there is no more queue in ropeway . For seeing Baroda/Vadodara it May be flying visit,as there are so many places to see. Say min. -1- hr in Laxmi Vilas Palace, another hr for Fatehsinh museum, -2 to 3- hrs for Kamatibaug museum,Zoo , garden etc , then other places EME temple, Kashi Wishvanath temple, Isckon temple and many more . It may require 3-5 days . Though as s flying visit you can do both. Thanks & wish you happy stay in Baroda😊

the rates for per person is 200. it was rate of last year. for this year, it may be different. Along with entry pass, you will get a mp3 player in different languages. You can use it as per your convenience. It works as your personal guide.

200 Rs. each, which includes Tour with flexible time to spend there and Audio device. They will collect Audio device, once your visit over. There is no difference between Local and Outside, I visited this place with one of my USA foreigner colleagues, and we paid same for both of us.

Hi,
How does one book tickets to the museum and palace
regards
Atulyan
كُتب بتاريخ 4 ديسمبر 2015
Hello.
Tickets can only be purchased at the kiosk just in front of the actual palace building.
If you can't easily find it, then most of the staff can at least point you in the right direction.
Cost is around 150-200 INR, and don't forget that the palace is not open Monday or Bank holidays.
Hope this helps.

كُتب بتاريخ 1 أغسطس 2015
No, only the small part can be hired for parties and meetings. Another part is used museum for public (ticketed) and in remaining part king family stays. No rooms are given to guests for stay purposes.

Hello ,
What are the prices of tickets and what are the viewing hours
كُتب بتاريخ 26 يوليو 2015
The entrance ticket cost is Rs. 200/- per person. You get an audio-hearing device in your preferred language which explains the palace. Also if you do not wish to take and audio hearing device, you can simply join the tour with a guide who will guide you through the palace and its history. The timings are 10:00 am to 05:00 pm from Tuesday to Sunday. It remains closed on Monday.
