‪Interesting temple close to Bangalore. In order to get the most out of it I recommend hiring one of the local guides for a small fee.‬

‪This is a very good temple. The 'Q' is well organised. No push or pull. One can have a peaceful Dharshan of Lors Sri Rangantha.‬

‪Came thru this village surrounding the beautiful Lord Ranganatha temple similar to Srirangapattana, en route to Bangalore. Huge structure, unbelievably over 7 centuries old, but check the closing times. Barely made it inside.‬

‪Magadi Sri Ranganatha Swamy is not just one of the most beautiful and charming temple, but a very popular tourist and pilgrimage destinations near Bengaluru.

Lord Ranganatha, the presiding Deity, is actually Lord Shrinivasa in a standing posture. He is undoubtedly one of the most mesmerizing and charming God that you will come across.

The Temple itself is just 45 kms (approx) from Bengaluru City and there are regular bus services from the Bangaluru Bus station (Subhash Nagar or Mejestic).

Built in the Dravidian style of architecture, the Temple Gopuram is a majestic structure and is typical of the Dravidian style with various Gods and Mythological figures adorning it. The presiding Deity is housed in the middle of the temple with a spacious corridor (Prahara) surrounding it. The Temple tank (Kalyani) is just outside the main entrance and is kept spic and span.

It is a great one-day outing destination and folks travelling either by 2-wheeler or 4-wheeler can enjoy the beautiful drive on the quite road (newly laid), stopping to catch a glimpse of some great birdlife or just stop for a picnic while enjoying the rural scenery.

Quite a few farms and hamlets dot the length of the journey adding to the overall enjoyment, including the beautiful TG Halli reservoir (Entry to the reservoir is restricted).

Parking is not an issue near the Temple, but please be aware that there are not many hotels/restaurants nearby. The one I had my breakfast, "Udupi Hotel", was fairly a decent one without the frills and fancies of a City restaurant, but with decent food.

Other places of interest include Magadi Sri Someshwara Temple, The Kempe Gowda Statue and the Kempe Gowda (Magadi) fort.‬

‪Spot to see before entering Mysore. This Hindu Vaikhanasa temple is a hot spot for locals which is full of history and legends. Dating back to 16BC, the temple is built in the Vijayanagara style and supported by numerous craved granite pillars. Thousands of people come to see the Chariot Festival and it's a place that worth a visit.‬

‪Kalkunte Agrahara is about 6 kms north of and from Chikka Tirupathi Temple near Sarjapura Bangalore. This ancient temple is dedicated to Sri Ranganathaswamy (Vishnu in a reclining posture) with his consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi. The glimpse of the reclining Lord is really awesome, captivating and simply beautiful, whether decorated with butter or his costly jewelry. The annual Rathotsava here, as told to me, attracts huge crowds from all over Bangalore.‬
