‪A heritage site that requires attention‬
أكتوبر 2020
‪A small watch tower that served it’s purpose centuries ago and now is a reminder of the history.
While it’s a nice little historical monument to look at this place needs maintenance. A few people have vandalised the place with graffiti that sticks out like a sore thumb.

While some railing guards have been placed around this watch tower, that requires maintenance too!‬

‪There is an elevated watchtower and nothing more. The view from that place is amazing. You can look at the river, land and sea at the farthest.‬

‪Old fort‬

‪The Sultan Battery was part of the naval defensive system built by the Kingdom of Mysore during the reign of Tipu Sultan. This battery consisted of defensive tower that could intercept shops sailing down the coast of the Arabian Sea, which was a route used by the British during the conquest of the subcontinent by the British India Company.

In truth, there's not much to see. The only good thing about the battery is the views of the Gurupur river and the Arabian Sea. The battery is located about 100 metres from the ferry station to cross to Tannibhavi Beach.‬

‪With high hope visited this place. But, to the utter surprise the place is miserably maintained. Such a place which denotes the strategic mindset of the great Tipu Sultan needs urgent attention. Nice view of the surroundings. ‬

‪Review on Sultan battery :mangalore‬
العائلة • أغسطس 2019
‪The visit is worth the effort. Watch tower offers good scenic views.... there is a bms boat service between sultan battery and tabirbhavi beach... do take the boat ride... avoid rush day I.e Sunday....

The Sultan Battery watch tower, constructed in 1784 by Tipu Sultan is in Boloor, 4 km from the centre of Mangalore city, the chief port city in the state of Karnataka, India.‬

‪Nothing monumental unless selfies over religious ruins make you feel valuable‬
العائلة • أبريل 2019
‪This is probably one of the worst sites to visit in the "townish" city of Mangalore. No it has no significant ancient history and definitely is not recommended for the religious at heart especially christians. For those who have some sense of sentiment should know that this entire structure was built with stones from all the churches destroyed by invader Tipu Sultan. Absolute worthless structure given that its not even in its original state after it was "renovated" with plenty of new age cement and stuff taking away its originality. This is supposed to be a watch tower and when you actually visit it you will feel your 2-3 storey native house feels like a castle in comparison.

In and around this place is a river and nothing else. If you have a nice hotel bathtub and feel time and money are in short supply then don't waste your time here.‬

‪Ancient historical place in DK Mangalore‬
العائلة • مارس 2019
‪Sulthan Bathery, previously known as Sultan's Battery or Ganapathyvattam, is a town and municipality in Wayanad district of Kerala, India, near the borders with Tamil Nadu and Karnataka states. The largest city in Wayanad district, it is the headquarters of Sultan Bathery taluk. It is a quiet and peaceful town. The place came to be known by its new name after Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan invaded the region and used the Jain Temple located here as a battery. The pleasant weather in this beautiful town, coupled with excellent opportunities for shopping and spectacular historical sites makes the town of Sultan Bathery a popular tourist destination that is visited by tourists all year round. Located at an altitude of 1000 meters above the sea level, the town of Sultan Bathery boasts of a fantastic topography: majestic hills interspersed with valleys, cliffs and plains. Not only is Sultan Bathery now the largest town in the entire Wayanad district, but the place is also reputed for its tourism and commercial activities. The main attractions for the tourists are the pre-historic caves, jungle trails, sparkling streams and rivers and lush greenery of the undulating hills, along with many options to explore the city and its surroundings. Stopovers such as the Edakkal Caves, Chethalayam Falls, the Jain Temple, Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, Ambalavayal Heritage Museum and St. Mary's and Yakoob Church make this town a suitable choice for every kind of traveller, having something for everyone to see.‬
