Sharavu MAha ganapathy temle in the heart of the city , is a must visit when in m'lore. Main daity here is Shivji , but lord ganapathy is worshiped @ large here. Inspite of being Off the busy MG rd , this temple is peacefull with enough parking space.

situated in the heart of the city this Ganapathy temple is very ancient.Area is little cogested one way road to reach, It is very near to city centre. one feel very relaxed visiting this temple

It is a very old temple..kept clean and poweful Lord Ganesha... holds good number of devotees.In Karthik masa around Nov- Dec they have annual Deepa utsava with cultural events and bhajan..its called gurji. Anybody visiting do make it a point to witness gurji events which is celebrating till late night.

This is actually a two in one temple with the equally important sanctums for Lord Shiva and Lord Ganapathi. The ambiance is so quiet in spite of the number of devotees and their is something special about the places which soothes frayed nerves and recharges your batteries for the next mission. There is no dress code here. A decent area is earmarked for parking of vehicles. Not to be missed if in Mangalore

One of the ancient Lord Maha ganapathi temple, local people known as Shri Sharavu Mahaganapathi, the great temple, we had visited early hours and got darshan.

The name of this temple "Sharavu" originated from the word "Shara" meaning arrow.
As per the prevailing legend, the Tulunad King Veerabahu constructed this temple eight hundred years back as penance for killing a cow by an arrow. The arrow was meant to be shot at the tiger which was standing besides the cow but by sheer mistake hit the cow and killed it. As per the advice of Sage Bharadwaj he first constructed a tank in the North, erected a Cow’s statue in the South and installed the Shivlinga at the spot where the cow was killed. The shivlinga was known as Sharabeshwara, the location of the temple was called Sharavu and the temple tank was known as "Sharatheertha".
Though the name of the temple is Shri Sharavu Mahaganapathi Temple, there are two deities presiding in this temple. The first deity, whom you will see once you enter the temple is Lord Shiva. Lord Ganesha is located on the South Side of the temple.
Darshan Timings
05:00 to 12:00 daily
16:30 to 20:00

The temple is smaller in size as compared to other biggies in Mangalore. But the clean atmosphere with surrounding nature attracts devotees. There is big parking ground.

Un templo que encontramos por casualidad. Se encuentra en pleno centro de la ciudad, sin embargo es muy tranquilo su entorno, ya que se accede por una pequeña calle cortada. Interesante para visitarlo.
