Nice place with very minimal crowds on most days. The overall mutt is clean and well maintained and visit can be quite relaxing.

The mutt is maintained very clean and beautiful. near to it there is a famous a manjunath temple you also visit it.

This is a nice place which provides peace of mind. It can be visited along with other places surrounding this mutt.

located near the famous manjunath temple, you can easily cover around 2-3 more attractions nearby within walkable distance.

It is located near Kadri temple. Here several tombs are visible. To know the story, you can meet the head priest. Cool place and if yo are in Mangaloe, must visit this Mutt. Mutt is open for public from 7AM to 7PM.

I am now at Kadri Hills in Mangalore, just came out of the temple, and viewing the surroundings. I see another hill like location with square type of two tired arch with simple carvings. After climbing the steps reached the inner portion, where several tombs are visible. This is called Shri Yogishwar Mutt. I was curious to know ‘who is or was this Yogishwar’?. I could not get right answer though I got the clue that it belongs to the group of followers of Yogiraj of Nagapanth believer.
There is an attractive temple apart from the tombs of many saints who were heads of this Mutt. They follow their own system of pooja in the temples as per schedule. The deities of Kalabhairava Goddess Durga and Agni are worshipped by the inmates. Agni is Two headed Fire-god, stands for enlightenment and remover or destroyer of darkness.
I am looking at the pyre which is always kept burning said to have initiated by Lord Parasurama. There is no much crowd, except inmates and few visitors like me. I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in this Mutt. The head of the mutt Swamiji is kind hearted person with traditional clad. He was pleased to narrate brief history of the mutt. One has to appreciate the love and care with which the cattle are looked after and maintained in this Mutt. Equally the cattle in Goshala are affectionate and make one forget evil thoughts. Certainly one will enjoy the serenity and peace prevailing here.
Close by I could see a cave. They say that Lord Srirama, Seetha and Lakshmana stayed here and got water from the well. Later Pandavas lived here for some time as such it is identified as Pandavas’ cave. I saluted the large size Lord Hanuman statue here.
After observing these activities my inquisitive curiosity necessitated me to know some basic information about the Nagapanth cult, which name is familiar and comes to light brightly at the places where Kumbmela is celebrated and commonly come across them in Himalayas, especially at Haridwar, Rishikesh, Kedarnath, Badrinath and other places.
‘Nath’ means ‘Siddha’ referring to Lord, Protector, or Refuge. Nath tradition is heterodox Siddha tradition having many sub-sects. It was founded by Matsyendranath and developed by Gorakshanath. These two individuals are also revered in Tibetan Buddhism as Mahasiddhas (great magicians) had acquired many great powers.
Those who follow Gorakshanathji are called Nathas or Kanphatas. Natha yogi strives by severe restraint and discipline of the body to secure union with God. Natha yogis are distinct type of yogis, who are found everywhere in India. Nathpanth or Nathasampradaya (tradition) is possessed of several monasteries all over India and abroad. They serve under the organisation known as ‘AKHIL BHARATVARSHIYA AVADHUT BHESH BARAH PANTH YOGI MAHASABHA’ (All India Avadhut Bheshbarah Panthyogi society). Its principle object is assisting all Nath yogis and monasteries in maintaining progressive activities of Nath Sampradaya. They have been establishing and running many schools, help poor students by providing education, food, clothes and medicine. There are twelve panths and each panth is represented by one in the society. It has branches throughout India including Mangalore. During February 2004 Nath Panth Sadhus were given warm welcome at this Mutt. More than 300 Nath Panth Sadhus participated in the coronation of Raja Sandhya Nathji as head of this Mutt, who will be replaced once in 12 years. Raja Sandhya Nathji and others came from Thriyambakeswar Kumbhmela, Nasik on foot. Since then the Swamiji, whom I met, has been serving as its head and rendering yeomen service to the society. Mutt is open from 7AM to 7PM.

now raja pattabhisheka rituals are going on,this raja will be rotated every 12 years,new raja of natha panth has arrived in mangalore on 1st of mar walking from thraybkeswar of nasik.very nice temple with resuduals of parusharama agni kunda.

This is a very peaceful place little bit away from the mangalore city, still very much accessible and located near Kadri temple. This mutt has many temple and tombs to remember many saints who had been the heheads here. When we went there ,the head priest was very happy to tell us about the history of the mutt and about the Parashurama fire which is believed to be burning since time immemorial. Visit this place if you are in mangalore.
