Pretty amazing view. Definitely an underwhelming hike. It is 5km in total according my map GPS. It can be done in 2hrs easily. If you want a hike you will be very sad. If you want a beautiful viewpoint with minimal exercises, that is the place

We had a guide (which I would strongly recommend) and the trek from one of the base camps to another was 16 km to a height of 2640 metres. We were incredibly lucky with the weather, with clear blue skies and still air. Trek was quite hard (hot and high) but not technical. Definitely worth the effort and cost of a guide.

The most memorable and beautiful trek trail I have ever been to! Since this trek is under Kerala forest department, it is completely safe for a solo traveler. The only problem is you have to book slots earlier to get part of this trek. There are 3 options available for stay. Tent, cottage, mansion. 2000 for tent stay (sharing 2). Check kfdc. Com for more details about booking. You have to reach the campsite by your own. You will get jeep from munnar town to meesapulimala Basecamp. After reaching campsite explore the place have dinner, enjoy campfire with million star sky above. Next day morning trekking starts. If you want to see sunrise start at 4am reach the peak by 6 or 7. They will drop at us rodovalley (famous rhododendron plants) by jeep. From there the real trekking starts. Take your time, rest in between enjoy the view. There is no need to hurry you can take as much time as possible. Even for a beginner it is possible to complete the trek. Once you reach the top you will appreciate that effort you have taken to climb this hill. Spend time there watching the clouds floating by. Carry water bottle and small snacks for the hunger mind. Don't throw any waste on the hill. Leave nothing but footprints 👣.

One of the best places ever visited. Is under KFDC and trekking would be in the morning which would be starting around 6am which would last approximately 1 hour one side where you have to climb seven mountains toreach on top.Must visit place and please ensure to carry items to protect yourself fromthe extreme chilled climate.Will cost you around 10K for the trip, but is worth every penny u spend.

Meesapulimala is the second highest peak in western ghats. 2640m height. For Meesapulimala trek you need to get permission from Kerala forest department. There are 3 combo programs which offers including stay, food and guide for trekking.

Meesapulimala Peak trek is a trek through lush green valleys, hundreds of blooming Rhododendrons, charming tea estates, gurgling brooks – peace is easy to find in the idyllic surroundings of Meesapulimala. Located at a significant altitude of 8,661 feet in the Idukki district of Kerala, Meesapulimala is a trek through eight hills, passing through the shared border of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
This 8 km trek from Rhodovalley takes you through high altitude grasslands, rainforests and wildlife. The Meesapulima Peak is called so because it apparently resembles a tiger’s face, although you’re not likely to spot any tiger here. “Meesa,” means moustache, “puli,” means tiger and “mala,” means hill. Hence, it is from this that the peak gets its name from and this is why it is called so

I had an incredible trek with my guide to the top of Meesapulimala. The views are breathtaking even if Tamil Nadu is covered in clouds. Nigliri Tahr roamed the mountainside on our return to camp. Endemic birds kept us company along the way. I would recommend this trek to anyone visiting the surrounding area. I look forward to doing it again.

I have been using this cafe since I came to Doha whenever I need to study. There are different kinds and sizes of seatings so you can definitely find a seat for yourself. Also they play nice music and people are talking with some manner so I really recommend this place for those who can’t study in silence. Also this staff named Dev always welcomes customers with a heart-warming smile and makes us easy to approach him. However, toilets and tables can be kept a bit more clean. If they walk around the floor more often to check, it’ll be much better.

The Meespulimala trek is a complete package that ticks most of the thrills associated with trekking. It has tough steep trails, long strolling paths, great views and the exhilarating feel of the Nature in offer. But the extremities of the weather is the factor to be taken care of as the exposure to the direct sun beams may not be felt because of the soothing wind but the effect on the skin should be taken care of. Sufficient protective gears against the sunny day and chilling night and the soaring spirit of the trekker - these are enough to take you to the top of Meesapulimala, and to check another high point off your trekking list.

I wish I’d read some of these reviews before I tried to organise my trek up this mountain!
I am so glad I persevered with the government website as the walk and scenery made it worthwhile. I wish I’d booked Rhodo mansion. In the end, because we already had accommodation in Munnar I booked base camp tents but actually went in the morning itself from Munnar. This did work but meant we started trek at 8.00 which was fine.
We checked into the government office just outside Munnar itself at 6.30 and picked up the jeep they had organised. The road definitely demanded this! Going to base camp in an ordinary car would not have been possible- we saw a Tuk tuk stuck in a large pothole
The walk itself is very straightforward and the scenery stunning

Will they allow us now to take our private bikes to reach till rhodo mansion stay... From there only vehicles are not possible ryt?
At what time should I reach the basecamp for sunrise view
Can I see sunrise if I reach basecamp by 4:30 am
Can we see the clouds even at noon?
Is there any restrictions on solo trekkers?

Hi, Can I ask how you booked the hiking trip? Was it in person at KFDC or online? In terms of timings, did you arrive at the campsite the night before, then the following day trek for how many hours? and then return to Munnar the next evening - so 1 night camping 2 days in total? Any details would be most helpful, thanks.

Hi, We had our package booked online from the site of Kerala Forest Development Corporation (KFDC). You can select from multiple options of stay. Once the ticket is booked, they will guide you accordingly. We had reached the pickup point before 4PM the previous day. They took us in a four-wheel drive jeep to the base camp where we had our stay. The trek would take around 6 hours and the total distance is 8.5 KM. Food is included in the package. You can reach Munnar back by 4 PM for onward journey.
When coming to munnar through bike can I make it to the base camp tent stay.what is cost of Jeep to top?
