The sacred temples of Khajuraho are alive with history. Next to the temple grounds, and free the the public, was my favorite temple visit in all of India, the temple, said to be the oldest in Khajuraho, dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple opens around 5am. Pilgrims walk through the mist to come and wash the lingham with honey and milk every morning as a devotional offering. There are men and women chanting, singing and mediating. The energy of faith and devotion to Lord Shiva is thick. The space is small, but it is worth trying to discover as many parts of the temple as possible. I cannot wait to come back, this is a must see!!

A great temple dedicated to lord Shiva. The temple is beautifully made and maintained too. Great place to get some blessings.

As per information given to me, this is the only functioning temple . A massive Shiva linga-about 6' tall is consecrated and regular pooja is conducted. Definitely a wonderful monument .

Tiene algunas reconstrucciones pero esta bueno igual; hay que visitarlo, esta dentro del complejo de templos.

A nice temple located near the western group of Temples in the City of Temples. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and the prayers are offered on a regular basis. The architecture is amazing.

西群遺跡公園内にあります。
ここの口コミを見て行きましたが、
小さくてよくわかりませんでした。
周辺に沢山の寺院がありますので、
ついでに行く程度で良いかと思います。

The Shiva temple is is just outside and adjacent to the Western group of temples of Khajuraho. There is no ticket for entry. There is a road side entry for this temple. We have to go over two stages of steps to this Shiva temple. Inner sanctum is with a tall Shiva Linga and the inside is lighted and there is a Hindu priest inside who conducts the pooja. Offerings are made by devotees.

De er flotte at skue, når man kommer ad stien hen imod dem. De er som de andre templer meget rigt dekorerede, men deres beliggenhed skiller sig ud mellem de mange templer

Shiva temple is a relatively smaller temple not even separately marked between Mahadev and Devi Jagadamba temple.

This is situated between the popular Mahadev temple and Devi Jagadamba temple. This is said to be dedicated for the sculptures of Khajuraho. The temple has a very artistic statue in the front.
