‪A cave temple of Shiva in the midst of the city‬
فبراير 2021
‪This place is located in the middle of the busiest place in Pune. It has very old trees and is a protected monument as per ASI. There are guards and ASI office located at its entrance and is very well maintained. It is clean and the temple can be accessed during day time only. The caves have been carved out of stone and give a good view of the entire complex. The place used to be visited by a local saint named Junglee Maharaj and there is a temple dedicated to him just adjacent to this cave temple.‬

‪Peace in between noise.‬
العائلة • نوفمبر 2020
‪In between city hustle bustle, here is this cave. You cant imagine this place is within the city, in a most busy road
So if you are planning to go there. This cave is situated adjacent to JM corner and opposite xiaomi showroom. You will see one cycle repair shop just outside the cave entrance. There is no board outside, so just enter the park after few steps you will see a Nandi.
2 wheeler parking area is there.
Go early in the morning. It gets open at 0830am.‬

‪Divine & historic‬

‪Pataleshwar cave temple itself signifies that this temple is down below the earth and inside the cave. Very old and historic temple and very famous among locals. You feel blessed and divine to be at this temple. Situated in the crowded city .‬

‪Live temple with lots of history‬
مارس 2020
‪Craved out of rock in the 8th century AD, this temple is still active with worshipers. To enter the cave, you will have to take your shoes off. The interior is dimly lit with several rooms with the statue of Shiva. My guide told me that it was excavated during the British rule.

During my visit, there was a ceremony right outside the temple with bells and gongs. Definitely worth the experience of seeing a live temple.‬

‪Historic temple - worth a darshan‬
مارس 2020
‪An old temple set amidst prehistoric caves, very well maintained and calm surroundings. Do not miss the large Nandi bull, sitting in a circular mandapa, gazing at the Shiv ling. Many people find it difficult to locate it, easiest landmark is the more modern temple of Jungli Maharaj which is next door. A small set of stairs from the Jungli Maharaj temple lead down to the Pataleshwar temple‬

‪A Cool Place‬
يناير 2020
‪From the main road, enter a little park where you may see people relaxing on benches. At the end of the park, there are a few stairs to go down to the Pataleshwar temple. It's a cave temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Lingam is installed in a small chamber where devotees can sit and pray. The main hall is a sight to see. The ceiling is supported on sculpted pillars. The inside is pretty cool when the outside is quite warm.‬

‪8th century Rock cut temple in Pune‬
زوجان • فبراير 2020
‪Had never imagined that a 1300 year old rock cut temple lies hidden along the busy JM road of Pune. Said to be the oldest structure in Pune, this temple lies below the level of the road and can be accessed directly or through steps behind the popular Jangli Maharaj Samadhi temple. It seemed quite popular among teenagers looking for a break from the heat. The garden at the entrance can do with some maintenance.

The circular structure popularly shown in the pictures of the place houses a huge Nandi idol while the main deity - a form of Shiva is in the cave opposite. The construction was abandoned half way as is evident from the lack of carvings within the caves even though one can see the markings left by the sculptors on the walls. Apart from the Pataleswar idol, there are idols for Ganapati, Parvati, Hanuman, Ram and Sita. The interiors were very clean and the atmosphere very peaceful and very cool being made of rock. While there were no priests around in the afternoon, active pooja is offered at the place.‬
