We visited the war Museum, tanks, fighter plane, we took a lot of selfies and photograph. The area is very clean and well maintained, It is associated with lot of history which is reflecting the Tanks, Fighter Plane. Don't forget to shop at reasonable rates. Food is good in restaurant. Set up by the Indian Army, the historical Jaisalmer war museum is situated at the entry point of Jaisalmer city. The museum displays the evolution of the Indian Army and its inspiring contribution to the Nation and pays tribute to the brave soldiers. The museum displays well-curated war exhibits like tank and fighter planes. One can take photo with the background of these exhibits. There is café available at site that sells cold drinks, Maggie etc. The entire complex is well maintained. Overall it was proud moment to visit the War museum.

Don't miss the light and sound show in the evening. This place is highly underrated. You can easily spend 2-3 hours over here. You can click photos but video recording is prohibited.

It takes about 20 minutes to reach the War Museum from Jaisalmer City. It's about 14 kilometers away from the fort.
The War Museum is actually run by the army, so it has run with military precision and cleanliness. They don't allow you to bring any bags in, only your wallet or your mobile or your handbag can be carried in. And it must be inspected. Ex servicemen don't need to pay their entry fees and children below 10 are free as well.
The War Museum is on a flat ground and is wheelchair accessible. There is a whole lot of rooms and to see and produce. We didn't have time for the audio visual room, so we couldn't see that. It's great for a lot of photography, and there's lot of Instagramable photos that you can take there.
I especially like the room where they had the history of the Indian Army, starting right from Chanakya and up until now. One of the eye opening things for me was that India actually sent more than 1 million soldiers to fight for the British in the World War One. I never really knew that the number was so high.
You will definitely come away from the museum having learnt a lot more.
They have a wonderful souvenir shop with fixed prices and great qualities, which I would highly encourage you to patronize. They only take cards at the museum. Cash is not allowed. So please plan accordingly. The one recommendation I would give them is, as they don't allow you to bring in bags, anything that you purchase at the museum is very difficult to carry around, because the museum doesn't give you bags as well. So you have to really carry each item in your hand, which is very inconvenient, and they should look into this.
There is a small ice cream shop at the front. I'm not sure if there is another snack shop that visitors can buy from.

Visiting the Jaisalmer War Museum was a profoundly moving and insightful experience. The museum, located near the Jaisalmer Fort, offers a poignant tribute to the sacrifices of Indian armed forces.
The well-curated exhibits vividly narrate the historical events, showcasing the valiant efforts of our soldiers during various wars, including the Indo-Pak conflicts. The display of military equipment, weaponry, and uniforms provides a tangible connection to the challenges faced by our armed forces.
The outdoor exhibits, featuring tanks, aircraft, and artillery used in the wars, create a powerful visual impact. The stories of individual soldiers, documented through photographs and personal artifacts, add a human touch, emphasizing the personal sacrifices made for the nation.
The museum's design and layout contribute to an engaging and educational experience. Informative plaques and audio-visual presentations offer context and depth to the historical significance of the wars and battles.
The expansive grounds, with well-maintained gardens and pathways, create a contemplative atmosphere. The panoramic view of the Jaisalmer Fort from the museum adds to the overall charm and historical context.
In conclusion, the Jaisalmer War Museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in India's military history. It serves as a solemn reminder of the valor of our armed forces and provides a respectful space for reflection and gratitude.

A must visit place just on the outskirts of Jaisalmer, it's easy to spot as one approaches Jaisalmer. The museum has a lot of exhibits on the army's wars and engagements in the western border. There's also an AV show for 15 mins on Indian army.

An excellent experience indeed!!!!
An invigorating feeling and a proud moment being at this place and getting to know first hand the valor of our soldiers.
A beautifully curated museum depicts the heroics of our defence forces graphically and the climax is the laser show that heightened the experience to a patriotic zenith.

Request you all to review my itenarary.
1. Reach Jaisalmer at 0600 by train.
2. Get fresh, have breakfast and leave the guest house by 0800.
3. Visit the Jain temple
4. Visit the Sonar Killa (Fort) at 0900. Go for audio tour. visit the palaces inside the fort( can you please name the palaces inside the fort?) End the visit till 1300. ....4 hours sufficient????
5. Have lunch and Leave for Desert Safari at 1400
6. Night in the desert
7. Next day arrive back in the morning at 1100. Get ready, have lunch and out for rest of the sightseeing by1300
8. Take auto and go to the war museum and back by 1530. (2.5 hrs sufficient for the to and fro journey and the museum visit?????)
9. visit patwon ki haveli and salim singh haveli by 1730.
10. Go to Gadisar lake at sunset time (i think this is not a sunset point, but read the reviews that this is good place to visit in the evenings)
11. Go to desert cultural museum and attend the puppet show at 1900.
12. Walk in the markets and End the day with dinner at 2200.
13. Take the train for Bikaner at 2300.
a. Is it worth going to the Desert national park if i am already spending 1 night in desert safari?
b. Read from reviews here that salim singh haveli and nathmalji ki haveli are average places and can be skipped. Is it correct?
c. Can Bada baug be accommodated anywhere in the itinerary or it is worth a skip?
Since, i dont have family and ladies along with me in this trip, i believe i wont waste time in the movement, local transport, eating joints and getting ready.
Please advice

Sounds like an excellent plan. I haven't been to patwon ki haveli and salim singh haveli so can't comment about that but the Jaisalmer fort, war museum and desert safari are all worth visiting.
