Not sure if we can call this a museum with mostly photos and a few clocks. There are also about 6 vintage cars including a Rolls Royce Phantom, 2 cadillacs, 2 Morris, and a Buick. Guess, it is neant to generate money for maintenance or to tick some column (or satisfy a condition( that it is open to public).

Very beautiful palace with a blend of modern as well as traditional architecture. The museum is good with some marvelous frescoes. The Vintage car museum is also good. The enterence gives a good view of the city.

I am very disappointed about their travel desk . Hotel driver took me to baba emporium. As said it’s govt shop . I am sure he got big commission from there . What ever I bought from them I got same pieces in Jaipur for half price . I remember his name Mahaveer . Very disappointed. I will complain this . Overall I really love spending time to this beautiful hotel

The Umaid Bhawan looks beautiful. The view around is worthwhile.
From the visitors perspective, we are only allowed to see 20% of the Bhawan, which is the museum and vintage car collection. Visitors are not allowed to stand around the area that has the hotel. Thus, visit experience comes down.
Overall, when in Jodhpur and if you have time, then you can visit Umaid Bhawan.

The Umaid bhawan is a sprawling beautiful palace which is the residence of the present Raja of Jodhpur. It was commissioned by Maharaja Umaid Singh to provide livelihood to his drought hit subjects.
The palace is at a height so one gets a good view of the city as the road winds up towards the part of the palace housing the museum . Colourful bougainvillea added brightness to the dry landscape.
Part of the palace is now a luxury hotel run by the Taj group.
A small section of the place is a museum showcasing paintings, trophies, weaponry, antique clocks & other artifacts from the private collection of the royal family. Well maintained, the museum also has a small shop stocking locally made wares.
Even the royal Panditji is available for consultation if one wishes for some guidance.
The garden is beautiful and on one side is displayed the royal vintage car collection.
This is another must visit place in Jodhpur!

This is a very small part of the palace where u actually see 1/10 of the palace and you will be disappointed to compare the same with the pictures of the palace on internet. Lots of restricted areas. can be skipped

The palace is Magnum and very beautiful...There is ticket of Rs20/person and also parking ticket is additional...
There is a museum of Heritage cars which are parked inside a building and cars can be seen from the glass wall. Due to glass reflection one cant view the cars properly but they looked magnificent though.
The palace visit is restricted to Palace museum which has different rooms and each room has separate category of display of different things like- photographs / weapons / clocks etc...
There is a souvenior shop also and a small cafe at the entrance.
Approx time for total visit is 1hour...

One out of 3 portion of palace was given for public viewing, good place to stop as it’s historic palace to watch. the collections of Maharaja’s heritage car collection was amusing to watch.Good venue to click some pictures

It's always great to see grand Royal Palace especially when it's one of it's kind.. Only problem it's just entry and exit in 5 mins! U dream of many things but nothing much as expected.

You can pay to stay at the palace as it is a hotel as well. Considering the present situation it will accept guests according to government guidelines. So i suggest that you look into their website and call on the number to clear your queries.

I think the entry fees are Rs30 for Indian and Rs100 for foreigners.

Is a hole day is sufficient for jodhpurs visit?

If you want to just cover important tourist spot like mehrangarh, ummed bhavan (and some shopping) then 1 day could be doable. But i have been there for couple of years and i would recommend to spend at least 2 days. Spent sometime walking the lanes of blue city near the fort, savor some local cuisines, shop from local market. Many would say you can do this in one day but then you would be doing is just for sake of covering the spots and not living those moments, believe me :)

Yes, this place is open all the 7 days timings are restricted between 9am to 6pm

Yes they charge nominal 30rs for indian guest and 100 for foreign tourist.

it is not possible to visit the Palace unless you are staying there. A part of the palace is with Taj Group .

If elderly couple are coming alone to see the museum(they cannot climb stairs) will they be comfortable to see the place?

Yes! Its possible for them to visit . They don't have much stairs except at the main entry of the museum. They can take a 4 wheeler till the ticket are and walk up to the museum. There are around 6-8 stairs ( not steep) which leads to the museum so if they can manage that much stairs, they can visit the museum comfortably.
