A part of the Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, Jai Pol is a massive gateway, constructed as a victory memorial. This gate is one of the seven entrances of the impressive fort which is on top of a hill. Maharaja Man Singh of Marwar, built this gate in 1806. The reason behind the construction of this gate was commemorating the triumph of Marwar against rival dynasties of Bikaner and Jaipur.
Incorporating elements of traditional Rajasthani architecture, this imposing structure looks magnificent. Even today, cannon ball scars formed during the battle can be seen near its walls, which are testimony of Jodhpur's eventful history
At the entrance is a canopy which is a memorial to a soldier. There are also some lovely paintings near the entrance.

While entering the fort and have the ticket..few step forward bring one to this gate//the audio guide pit stop#2.. a Royal Entrance..jai pole..
Jai Pol meaning, the 'gate of victory was constructed by Maharaja Man Singh, the King of Marwar in 1806 to celebrate the triumph of Marwar over the arch rival kingdoms of Jaipur and Bikaner. Located at a distance of about 5 km from Jodhpur city, it is one of the historic structure and the most famous of the seven gates present in the imposing Mehrangarh Fort. Marks made by cannon balls during old battle are still visible on the walls near the gate.
Jai Pol is a landmark, which speaks of Jodhpur's action-packed history. Owing to its significance and traditional architecture, the gateway is a suitable backdrop for clicking some beautiful snapshots.

Puerta principal de entrada a la fortaleza de Mehrangarh. Son muy interesantes los murales que se encuentran en sus lados.

This is the impressive main entrance gate to the fortress which was added to commemorate a famous victory against neighbouring kingdoms in 1806.
The murals were added more recently but are in a sympathetic style.

Passage obligé pour aller visiter le fort de Merangarh. Cette immense porte est impressionnante.
Dommage cependant que les lieux soient peu entretenus.

Maharaja Jai Singh had built this massive entrance to commemorate the victory of Marwah against dynasities of Bikaner and Jaipur. One of the nice places to be visited. Entry time is from 9 am to 5 pm. Know about the place you go. Hiring a guide for 100 INR can be a good option.
