‪Visited with a friend who is a Viet Nam vet. Memorial is very well done and a reminder of all who served during that time.‬

‪We each had experience of Vietnam vets in our family. So many stories. And this small, personal memorial was so satisfying. Our family members came back but this memorial is dedicated to a much loved young man who did not return home. Instead, his mom and dad created a personal memorial, which grew and grew in importance and meaning.

The collection is eclectic and so personal and hands on. So many artifacts resonate, so many stories are familiar.

Well done, and next time I visit, I'll bring the Montagnard basket that my brother brought back to give to their collection (he'll keep his bracelet, though).‬

‪Really surprised that this small town had a Memorial of this caliber. There is a wonderful story associated with it about the father that lost his son in Vietnam that everyone should research on-line (too long to share with this review). If in town or passing through please take an hour or two to visit this sacred place. God Bless America and our Armed Forces!‬

‪This was a surprise stop on our drive, and we were amazed at the beautiful memorial that is here. It's really a thoughtful tribute to soldiers that captures the feeling of their experience and also welcomes them home. Very touching.‬

‪Right after Memorial Day we were on a road trip when we saw a sign for this memorial. What a charming , serene place. We would have stayed longer but a storm was brewing. The museum had a lot of interesting items but the best was the memorial chapel‬

‪On this Memorial Day, My wife and I drove from Los Alamos, New Mexico to Guymon, Oklahoma. On the way we stopped at the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial State Park in Angel Fire, New Mexico. The memorial is located in the beautiful Sangre de Cristo mountain range in Northern New Mexico at 9,000 feet elevation. It was constructed by the family of Dr. Victor Westphall, whose son, David, was killed in a 1968 enemy ambush in Vietnam, near Con Thien. The memorial is a tribute to the 17 Marines who died in that battle, as well as, all members of America’s Armed Forces. The memorial is an amazing place complete with a Chapel, Visitors Center, a Huey and beautiful grounds with views forever. Today was the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Chapel. This is my second time here and as a Veteran it is always such an emotional visit. God Bless the Westphall family and all of the service members that made the ultimate sacrifice. I highly recommend a visit.‬

‪I just happened across this park last spring quite by accident. I'd been traveling around the desert SW, living in my car, running across Americana here & there. I couldn't remember where this was, or even the name of it, until I saw it listed here.‬

‪Driving past the memorial for years on the way to our favorite cabin, we are thrilled to view the progress made at the memorial site — now with a southern component honoring Veterans even further with a memorial ground, flags and cross. It doesn't take long to drive in and give thanks to those who gave their lives and souls to protect our freedoms.‬

‪I've been there many times and learn something new each time. This is a small memorial inside but packed with interesting items. Displays are rotated so you may see something new to you each time you go. We had 3 Vietnam vets with us on this visit and Mary was an excellent docent that went with us and gave us some additional insight as to the history and exhibits. There are 2 buildings, 1 is the museum and gift shop, the other is the chapel which was built first. Even the texture on the wall and the white color has significant meanings. There is a small amphitheater behind the chapel and a tiny graveyard for Dr. and Mrs. Westphall who built this in remembrance of their son. He is buried in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. There are tributes to Medal of Honor recipients, and bricks to honor any who have served. AF just recently received a grant to add a state veteran's cemetery which was just finished this summer of 2020. You can see it from the walkway between the museum and chapel. It is a very quiet and peaceful place to reflect. Please don't miss this one.‬
