This beautiful building was once a central bank in East Java for the Dutch Colonial government, built in early 1900s. After Indonesia's independence, it worked as a branch of Bank Indonesia until the seventies, and then became a museum and national heritage building. Other than the beautiful architecture, there's nothing much to see. Inside we can see some old banking equipment, old banknotes, and some photos with its historical explanation.

Never known that there is such museum di Surabaya ! The museum shows us the history of the “de Javasche Bank” which is now changed to Bank Indonesia and the place itself is the building of de javasche bank on colonial era.
Unfortunately I was here 1 hour before its closed, so the guide that guided me is a little bit lazy to explain things and at the end he stop half way (giving an excuse by saying “enjoy to take photo here, i’ll be waiting downstairs”), .
Fortunately, I was able to ask the guide who’s been guiding a group before me and he told me about how the security back then works, like they placed things like a huge mirror functioning almost similar like a rear-view mirror which is really interesting thing to learnt.
I Suggest you to visit in the afternoon, don’t visit this place 1 hour before it closed.

When I walked around Kia-Kia (Surabaya China Town), I saw this touris attraction in Google Map. This building was the central bank of De Javasche Bank Surabaya in colonial era. The tour guide told me this is not a museum actually, this is a cultural heritage building.
In this building you can see and also imaging how they ran the central bank back then. Do not hesitate to ask the receptionist how also the keeper and guide, about this building historical story. You can enjoy some old photograph of old time Surabaya in underground area.
To enter the building you should fill the guest book and with no enterance fee. I recommend you to come after you enjoy Kia-Kia. This building is side by side with Taman Sejarah and BNI building across Arcadia Hotel Surabaya operated by Horisson Hotel. The best time for visit is weekday, because there would a huge number of tourism/school group in the weekend

letaknya di area surabaya lama. dekat dengan tugu pahlawan dan pusat kantor pos surabaya.
di dalamnya ada koleksi uang Rupiah jaman dahulu.
bangunannya khas kolonial, dan masih kokoh dan cukup terawat.

Het leegstaande gebouw is keurig gerestaureerd, zowel binnen als buiten. Vriendelijk personeel die onze vragen kon beantwoorden. De geldpers de kluizen het was er allemaal. Wat een degelijkheid, vooral de brandkast van Lips! In alle rust konden we alles bekijken tot de zolder toe. Genietend van de mooie en solide manier van bouwen in de 'tempo doeloe' tijd....

Gedung ini sejatinya adalah bekas kantor De Javasche Bank yang berubah menjadi museum bank.
Saya mengunjunginya di pertengahan bulan desember 2017.
Disana terdapat berbagai macam koleksi peralatan atau hal hal yang ada di sebuah kantor bank di masa lalu.
Yang paling saya ingat dari kunjungan saya kesini adalah :
atap gedung yang berfungsi sebagai sumber cahaya. menurut cerita dari guide, di masa lalu untuk menghemat penggunaan listrik, atap gedung yang bagian tengah dibangun dengan material kaca sehingga tidak perlu listrik lagi di pagi hari, selain itu karena sebagian besar pegawai nya adalah orang asing pantulan cahaya matahari dari kaca membuat kulit pegawai asing menjadi lebih sehat
disana terdapat cctv manual, cctv yang digunakan oleh bank di masa lalu. terbuat dari cermin. penempatan cermin cermin tersebut sangat pas dan diperhitungkan menggunakan perhitungan hukum fisika. sehingga semua sudut dari area bank terlihat jelas di cermin.
Jika kesini jangan lupa untuk berfoto, dan melihat cctv manual ya guys.

Museum ini dibuka pada tahun 2012 di gedung ex de Javasche Bank yang sudah direstorasi. Museum ini memamerkan berbagai jenis mata uang lama dan berbagai jenis perangkan perbankan lama.
