This place is on the way from Ende to Moni. There are just few uninhabited huts left for display. People stay in houses built around this area.
We just spent 20-30 minutes here. Mostly because our kids enjoyed looking at the chicks and pups roaming around here.

This place is more of a museum than a place to live. It was a functioning village until it burnt down in 2012. A few houses have been rebuilt, to illustrate how things were before the fire. The fire risk is so great that only two houses are actually occupied and there is a strict no smoking rule; unusual for Indonesia. There wasn't a great deal to see, as there was no access into the house and the village life takes place in the surrounding, modern housing. One thing that did move us was hearing the sound of children singing in the background, as we were walking around. We later tracked the singing down to the village school and it was beautiful to hear.

Short before kelimutu I went in a traditional town to take some pics of the newly built houses and some school kids. It was nice to see but nothing special.

Wologai was our 1st stop after we landed/arrived in Ende.
Beautiful place ... We were accompanied by a man who lived in one of those houses...it was an interesting story he told us about the village.
Highly recommended!

The village is not too interesting, there are very few people and the houses are rebuilt after being burnt down before. There are some locals selling nuts and they tell you they are macadamias. Very important: they are not macadamias, but candlenuts that are mildly poisonous if eaten raw. We were very sick for a day. All Indonesians know that it is not supposed to be eaten raw, but nobody cautioned us. They use it for cooking, make vegetable oil and candle of it.

All'ingresso è richiesto un piccolo obolo.

Quite nice Lionese village, where only few villagers live there. There are male houses Keda Kanga and Female houses Sao ria, each of them has a unique location within the village.
We were invited by a local woman who spoke English, into her house and explained about the life in the village and offered a tea.
It felt quite unique, not touristy and we were able to walk freely, except the ceremonial platform.

in Wologai are found some of the most beautiful traditional Ende houses. Here live some masters of wood carvers and traditional cloth weavers, some of the most talented ones in Flores island.

Started from planning till the end of houses were build always be passed by ceremonies / rituals. Beside the ceremonies for houses the local people there also have some other ceremonies in planting and harvesting and some ceremonies for the spirit of dead people. You can reach this village by car, scooter or bicycle. It is very easy to arrive there. Just leaving 2 kilometers from Flores high way then you will find the village. Before enter to the main village please do registration yourself in Kantor Desa Wologai. For donation you will asked to pay 15.000 per person. Please bring with your good camera for picture. There you can find dried Arabic coffee bean, dried battle nut, candle nut and originally coffee flour. If you have a plenty time please enjoy a glass of coffee. If it is impossible to enjoy so buy some as your souvenirs. one interesting thing you have to find there is carving. One old man has some collections of carving. He does by himself and selling in normal price. When you are going around at the village Please do not go up to the center of the village. There is the sacral place for ritual and the place for Mosalaki (the head village or head clan). There are also available with toilets on the right side of village nearby the big tree.
