‪Spent 1hr here. Nominal entry fee. It's a walk around the base of a 'hill' crater along the sea edge. Structures of the volcanic hill are just lovely to see. Nice casual stroll with some live seafood offering sashimi style. ‬

‪Visiting in August “Zen Hideaway,” named for locals “hiding” from imperial Japan that brutally imposed Zen Buddhism on nativist Koreans, 9 dolphin pods appeared. Near this coastline—halfway from Seogwipo city to Sagye Beach coffee shop beside Yongmeori Coast, the archers’ Cheonjiyeon Falls (by Grand Josun hotel) is a more popular tourist spot close to celebratory Baksugijeong Beach. However, here on Sagyenam-ro at Sagye Beach / Andeok-myeon near Jungmun Duty-Free Shinsegae & lighthouse, the beachfront trail to Yongmeori reveals the Hendrick Hamel Exhibition (1653 shipwreck). These were the days when the Dutch ruled the Asian seas after the Portuguese—raping or commodifying fruit of the land as the Scots-Irish did at the bequest of Japanese rulers afterward: selling off Korean migrant women for European slave markets or distant plantations. (Hence, Korean descendants in Latin America.) Evidentially, the remains in this remote area are sparse. By ferry to Marado, you’ll see Brother Island on the horizon, another hidden area. Locals can visit rural Haenyeo village and the fishing wharf, or hike Olle (volcanic) trail route 10 to greet the haenyeo: now-elderly women Indigenous to Jeju, who still make their living as sea divers. They survived Japanese colonizers, who tortured them and destroyed 1/10 of Jeju’s population, while deporting the rest for slave labour. With a remake of Yeosu’s Hamel museum, off Yongmeori (Dragon Head) Coast you’ll find the Hamel ship memorial with a beautiful view of canola fields and Mt. Sanbang. Bring good Keens or water shoes, cash for currency, a picnic lunch and camera. With patience, it’ll all come to light!‬

‪We visited this place while walking the Olle trail route 10 and its great view and fresh seafood were very pleasing and I strongly recommend it. Definitely great to snap some fantastic photos while enjoying the rocky beach. The whole place was very clean and I just really enjoyed my time there chilling and staring at the ocean and volcanic cliffs.
It took about 30min to walk the whole path but if you want to take everything in, chill and take some pictures 1 hour and more would be perfect.‬

‪The walking trail at Yongmeori Coast is just a few hundred meters (~700 m) long, but the layered sedimentary structures made from rocks and volcanic ashes, and dramatic shapes created by erosion from hard ocean-waves and wind make it breathtaking art of nature and truly resembles Geopark. It is known that the site is indeed designated as one of the nine Jeju sites certified by the Global Geopark Network in 2010. Personally, this is one of my best scenic places in Jeju in the view of both geology and photography lover.
The part of these cliffs appeared stretched out from nearby Sanbangsan Mountain. The meaning of Yongmeori in Korean is Dragon Head. Interestingly, the rough surface of rocks and dramatic shapes formed by rocks due to erosions make it look like a dragon's head going underwater.
This part of Jeju is also famous for women sea-drivers. During our visit, we have got an opportunity to try out a few fresh kinds of seafood sold by Korean grandmothers along the coastline.
Another attraction near this cliff is the huge shipwreck which is actually a reproduction built as the Hamel Castaway Memorial to commemorate a Dutch sailor (Hendrick Hamel). It is said that he was drifted to the shore of Jeju by a typhoon in 1653. He then wrote a book providing the West some insights into Joseon Korea for the first time.
All together this place is very impressive and must not be missed.‬

‪This place is AMAZING. I can't describe with words how incredible it was so I will upload pictures too. I visited this place during the Jeju Olle Walking Festival and it was my favorite place. I highly recommend to visit this place. If you can, do Route 10 of the Jeju Olle Walking and you would come across this place. Also, in that place you can found ladies who are fishing and preparing dishes right away. You can try raw fish from Jeju right there. We tried and it was delicious!‬

‪I love exploring new places that require strength and Yongmeori Coast is absolutely that place! We got a chance to try seafood straight from the sea and it was pretty good for me since I'm not a big fan of raw seafood. We had a fantastic time there because we enjoyed the sea while eating seafood and had an experience that only Jeju can provide for us!‬
