The entrance to Masai Market is not maintained properly. There are 5 gates each representing one national park. We started and finished in one street only. Actually it is a small shops and stalls selling souvenirs, clothes and other goods. They are so attractive forcing you to shop. Bargaining is a must. The price are far less than big art galleries.

A good place for your shopping in Arusha. Several small stalls under one roof, selling curios, carvings, beads, fabrics, table mats. A nice place to visit for a couple of hours. Vendors would sell more if they let you make your choice rather than being so insistent...Get ready to bargain!

Such a beautiful market with a massive variety of souvenirs. Prices are all up for bargaining and if you stand your ground you can certainly get some great items for cheap prices. Definitely recommend if you're in Arusha.

So, there is a great array of handmade crafts at pretty good prices (like 1/3 of the cultural center). The big problem is the aggressiveness of the owners. They are small 10' deep, very narrow sales spaces and they beg you to come into them, then block the way out and try and get you to buy something. Yes, you are free to leave, but it is uncomfortable and they really push the sales. That said, negotiating is not only accepted, but expected. Whatever their first price is, about 50% is where you will land if you properly work with them. The more you buy, the better the price goes.
Baskets, wooden kitchen utensils, and beaded items are all beautiful. There are 220 or so shops, so don't feel like you have to buy the first item, go deep and support those that never get seen.

Es un mercado con múltiples puestos donde encontrar sobretodo artesania de ebano, y bisuteria tipica de los maasai. Imprescindible negociar, aunque resulta divertido y curioso.

There'a an extensive selection of all types of souvenirs available here (wood carvings, wood items, jewellery, beading, paintings, clothing, etc.) and the shops are run by locals. Many of the stalls have very similar or even the same items, so you just need to decide where to buy. Also bargaining is a must - I know many people don't necessarily like that but you can also do it in a nice way and end up agreeing on a price that you're happy to pay.

Not worth the hassle. We had a man follow us 3 blocks on the way to the market then had most of the vendors practically yell at us to get us to stop at their stall. Overall it was a quite unpleasant experience.

I go to this place every time I am in Arusha. A perfect place to buy souvenirs of all sorts. I was with a group from Mama Kuku Travel and everyone was able to buy something from the various vendors. The only downside is that it is high pressure from everyone selling their wares. I’d love to stroll around and take my time, but the constant badgering by the vendors make me want to hurry and not buy all I would have otherwise.

It's a good place to buy souvenirs at an affordable price, and is operated by the locals, if like to bargain there is a room negotiation, the problem of the place is harassment happened from vendors each one forced us to visit their shop. But all in all, we got so much stuff for our friends and family.

A medium-sized market with similar trinkets at almost all of the stalls. The vendors are pretty pushy in trying to get you into their shops. They are willing to bargain (my son got a carved elephant down from $20 to $5. Barbara, located on the right-most aisle, had the best and most unique selection of masks, and knew the history of them. There is also a wood carver in the back right corner who does nice work that is reasonably priced.
