This company is the best of the best! If you are reading reviews trying to pick a trustworthy and extremely responsive company, with a world-class staff...book with Majestic Kilimanjaro!! We went on this trip for our honeymoon and this company and team blew us away.
They are a locally owned company, part of KPAP and Tumaini, on of the owners is great! I worked with him for about 8 months prior to the hike/safari and we stayed in consistent communication the entire time. Thank you Tumaini!!
CLIMB - We did the 7 day Machame route (spoiler alert - we made it to the summit!).
Guides: Our guides Leo and Swirbert were so knowledgeable, kind and helpful. While the climb was certainly challenging (physically and mentally), these two kept us laughing, learning and smiling all the way up to the top. There is no 'easy' route to the summit, but if you have professionals like Leo and Swirbert with you - anyone can make it to Uhuru Peak! Pole Pole!!
Chef: Amani was our chef and the food was INCREDIBLE! Delicious and new soup at every lunch and dinner, as well as restaurant style meals. I can't even explain how amazed we were at the quality and amount of food provided. Even if you are someone that likes to eat a lot, you will never run out of food. We left that tent so full at every meal. We even got to try a local favorite, ugali (must try!!).
Crew: I need to give kudos to the entire crew. They were the most amazing team of hard working individuals. The crew had a smile on their face the entire time and were above and beyond helpful. My favorite was Day 2 where we were officially introduced to everyone and we all sang and danced around camp. Also, they are all so supportive to push you to keep going. After we came down from summit we were greeted with the whole crew clapping, hugs and high fives!
SAFARI - 3 Day to Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara
This was a perfect way to relax after 7 days on the mountain! Our Safari guide, Emanuel was super knowledgeable, funny, and friendly. Each day on the safari was a new adventure. We were able to get super close to elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras...and as far as seeing animals - you name it we got to see it. I'll tell you it was not "luck" that made it possible, it was the skill and professionalism of our guide - he knows those parks in and out. Many times we were within an arms distance of these beautiful animals all alone without any other vehicles or tour groups.
Thank you Majestic Kilimanjaro for making our dreams come true! This was a trip of a lifetime!!!

I had such a wonderful experience climbing with Majestic Kilimanjaro. We did the 7 day Machame route and I was blown away by the landscape, vistas and beauty of the mountain. Our guides Leo and Ayubu were so knowledgeable, caring and a lot of fun to be around. Whilst the climb is challenging, we were singing, dancing and laughing our way to the top. The whole crew were fantastic and you could see they were very proud to work for Majestic Kilimanjaro. I was blown away by the quality of the food they served on the mountain which included three hot meals a day and snacks to keep us powering through the climb. I also know that Majestic is one of the best companies that treat their porters and crew with the highest standards, which was very important for me. The team got us to the top safely and there was so much support from the whole crew to cheer us on along the way.
We also did a Safari with Majestic, which was such a beautiful experience. We loved the camps and lodges that we stayed in and our guide Reggie was fantastic. We explored the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park. It was a great thing to do after the climb as we got to relax in the very comfortable Safari vehicle and recover as we saw almost every wild animal I had my heart set on seeing.
I would definitely recommend climbing with the team at Majestic Kilimanjaro. It's a smaller company and knowing that half of their profits go to community work in Africa made me even more proud to climb the mountain. Thank you to everyone at Majestic who helped make this dream come true!

The Majestic Kilimanjaro team was amazing! Right from the start, we were looking for a local company that was part of KPAP. Tumaini, one of the owners, was very responsive to our inquiries about the hike, all the way up to the hike itself.
From our lead guide Leo to our assistant guides, Ibrahim and Israel, and our wonderful chef Rashidi and the entire crew, they made our 8-day hike such a remarkable experience. Our guides were very knowledgeable about the mountain and the flora and fauna along the hike. Our chef cooked up delicious meals at 4000m above sea level with a makeshift kitchen, that I would say, puts many restaurants in Germany to shame. And importantly, the care and support we got along the entire way was heartfelt and really got me feeling like the team was all in it together with us.
I would not hesitate to recommend the Majestic Kilimanjaro team to anyone looking for their next adventure in Tanzania!!
Thank you Majestic!!

We were a small private group of 4 and had planned this since Sep 23! We did the 8 day Lemosho route to summit Kilimanjaro and a 5 day safari covering Tarangire, Central and Northern Serengeti. Steve and Tumaini were great to deal with, they patiently answered our many questions providing essential details which were necessary for our planning. They were happy to customize our safari plans, all transfers and activities were executed perfectly and timely!
For the climb, we had Kasim and Naiman as our Chief and assistant guide. They were both extremely knowledgeable about the flora and fauna on the mountain. Each day, they were generous with their time, knowledge and experience on the mountain sharing every nuance about the mountain. The mountain may have seemed intimidating at first, but with Kasim and Naiman bringing us through it, seeing it through their eyes/perspective we all grew to love it each day! More importantly, they are aware of the dangers of the high altitude and they constantly reminded us to take our time, hydrate, eat and not to rush! Kasim also went the extra mile of always taking great photos of the team! Kasim and Naiman took turns to dine with us every meal, every conversation with them was meaningful as we learned more about our guides, Kili and everything Africa.
Of course this would not have been possible with the well assembled crew that ascended with us. We always had deliciously prepared meals by Amani, which were served by Joshua, who also took the best care of us, helping with fresh water, hot drinks and sharing his great stories!
Ascending Kili would not have been possible without their guidance and support! We left with memories which we will carry in our hearts for this lifetime!
For the Safari, it was a great way to recharge from the climb. Our Safari guide, Reginald, was extremely experienced and knowledgeable. This was showcased through the in depth descriptions he shared about the animals we saw, him answering all our questions and the extra effort he put in to drive us to locations to try and catch the wildlife! Through his experience (where to be and when to be there) we managed to catch the famed Wildebeest migration as they crossed the Mara river.
We were very happy that we had selected Majestic Kilimanjaro to do the climb and safari. We had quality service, guides and equipment. They are also members of Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP) which was important to us.
Thank you for the memories!

Tumaini and our Majestic Kilimanjaro team made this once in a lifetime trip truly exceptional. The breathtaking views, knowledgable guides, and seamless logistics made this adventure one of a kind; and at a great price! Also, super important to us, Majestic Kilimanjaro’s reputation of taking care of their people and KPAP membership resonated with us. All 14 people on our team were enthusiastic, supportive and well taken care of throughout our journey.
If you’re looking for the best people to take you to Africa’s highest place, highly recommended Majestic Kilimanjaro for your life-changing journey to the Roof of Africa!

From the first hours on our trek, it was apparent that the guides with Majestic Kilimanjaro have a genuine, personal relationship with Mt Kilimanjaro.
They would point out the smallest details of the fauna & flora along the way, things that most others would just pass by. I was impressed that they knew the names of all the species (and sometimes sub-species) of plant and animals that I asked about in English, Latin and Swahili.
This is exactly what we wanted from a guide service.
To experience the mountain and safari parks through local eyes, not just to have our 'hands held' while we trekked along.
The same can be said for the driver on our four-day Serengeti safari.
The driver's many years of experience meant that he would spot partially-hidden animals in the distance as other guides simply drove past.
It wasn't just a case of "right-time, right-place" with this guy, he knew where to look.
We saw ALL of the animals we wanted to see and photograph in a relatively short time.
Even from when we started enquiring with Majestic Kilimanjaro via email, the responses were always prompt and helpful.
It's this attention to detail that I believe contributed to our successful Mt Kilimanjaro summit and trip-of-a-lifetime Serengeti safari expedition
I can tell you that the food was good and all of the porters were a great team too, because they were.
All super friendly, happy share in a joke and always eager to help.
I'm sure many companies in Tanzania pride themselves on their customer service but I reckon Majestic Kilimanjaro are definitely second-to-none.
Our two main trek guides even offered to take us around town to show us the sites of Arusha and the best places to shop on their day off after we came down from the mountain. Thanks Boys, your company and insights that particular day was invaluable.
This is the first time I've ever bothered to write a review like this and if you've read this far, you're obviously keen to find a good value, reliable company to go on your own Tanzanian adventure with. I can whole-heartedly recommend Majestic Kilimanjaro to you.
if we were to do our trip over again, I would choose Majestic Kilimanjaro every time.
Cheers.
Marty & Oscar.

I chose the 7 day northern circuit route followed by a 3 day safari.
Everyone at Majestic came together to make this such an incredible trip. Tumaini was very responsive to my emails from the very start. Julius and the team for the climb were all amazing. Amani, the chef, was a magician with what he could create in the mountains. Joshua, the waiter, was always serving my meals with a smile. I can’t thank the team enough for all the hard work they put into helping me succeed in my climb. The 3 day safari was also an unforgettable experience. Our guide, January, was very informative with both animals and local history. He would talk just the right amount and then let us enjoy the noises of nature. All in all, this was easily the best trip of my life and I would highly recommend using Majestic Kilimanjaro.

I can’t say enough good things about majestic Kilimanjaro and how they set up this climb. On the way down after summiting I was trying to think of how I can recommend them to as many people as possible, and unfortunately a 5 star review is the best I can do. Everyone was so nice, friendly, responsive, prepared, and timely. I like camping, but after having Timoth come wake me up with hot coffee every morning and our chef James cook full feasts for every meal I’m afraid I can’t go back to what I used to do. And when I say feasts, imagine being served a pizza at 13,000 feet and 10 miles into the hike. On top of that, add fresh fruit, tea, popcorn, and battered, fried bananas. This is the first time I’ve ever gained weight on a multi day hike. Multiple times there were other groups, and I’m guessing ones on more expensive trips than ours, passed us as we ate our snacks at a set table on the trail, they asked if they could trade places with us.
Additionally, our lead guide Leo and assistant lead guide Naiman were exactly who we wanted for this trip. The duo set a great pace, pointed out plants, animals and rocks of interest, and answered all of my hundreds of questions with the answers I was looking for. Naiman was not only friendly to us, but clearly cared for other groups on the trail, congratulating them on the summit, and saying hi to other friends he’s worked with. Leo clearly knows just about everyone, so it’s always fun to hear him greeting old friends. Leo also recognized that we could handle a good pace and helped us pass some slower groups on summit day, leading to the absolute perfect sunrise at the summit. They know the mountain extremely well and did everything to make sure we had the perfect trip.
Additionally, Tumaini is the owner and very responsive to all communications. Finding a Tanzanian owned company that’s part of KPAP was important for us, and majestic Kilimanjaro more than delivered.

This is the company you need to go with if you want to climb Kilimanjaro or go on Safari. If we were to climb Kilimanjaro again, I would want to go with the same crew and use the same company. We are so glad we entrusted Majestic Kilimanjaro to lead us on our trip of a lifetime up Mt. Kilimanjaro, given there are so many companies to choose from. After a lot of research, we wanted to pick a company where the profits went back into the community and where the staff are treated well. Majestic Kilimanjaro went above and beyond our expectations.
A crew of 30 people led our group of 7 up and down the mountain over the course of 8 days. If I ever did this hike again, I would want the exact same crew with me. Some notable people include:
Our Guides: Leonard (Head Guide), Kefes, and Baraka M. were personable, professional, knowledgeable, and took great care to watch over us and ensuring we were all healthy enough to progress up the mountain. A couple of our group members struggled with the altitude, but our guides provided them amazing care. They gave us four rules: Go slow, Eat lots, Drink Lots and Listen to your guides. We followed their rules, and all seven of us successfully summitted! I also loved being able to talk with them and learn about Geographical formations we saw along the way.
Our Chef: Rashid provided amazing feasts for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I am Celiac and so he was able to accommodate my Gluten Free diet no problem. He also provided a dairy free menu for some other people in our group. He is trained to accommodate various dietary needs. We ate bacon and eggs, pancakes, GF pancakes, fresh fruit, egg scrambles, sausage, tea, and coffee. For lunch and dinners we were treated to fried chicken, spaghetti, various soups and vegetables, fajitas and burritos. All made from scratch. We barely touched our snacks that we brought with us because we ate so well; much better than we expected.
Food Waiters: Gidion and Freddie were so personable, welcoming, and helpful every day filling up our water bottles, waking us up with coffee and tea and joining us on Summit day where we “skied” down the ashes of Kili.
The Porters and Tent Crew worked so hard and provided great care with our bags and setting up the tents, we couldn't have asked for a better team. Special shout out to Joshua and Baraka for having a tough job managing the sanitation!!
If you are not convinced this is the company to go with, we also did a fantastic 3 day safari with Majestic. The Toyota Landcruisers gave all passengers equal access to the parks we visited. But what stood out for us was our daughter left her hat in a a safari truck when it dropped us back at the hotel. When she realized is was missing the next day, we called Tumani to see if the hat was in the jeep. It was, and he had someone from the company meet us at the airport to drop it off. How amazing is that?!?! I highly recommend this company. They are amazing, and would trust them to take us up that spectacular mountain again!!

After deciding to climb Kilimanjaro to raise money for Farleigh Hospice we chose Majestic Kilimanjaro to help us achieve our goal. From the very beginning Tumaini was responsive to our questions and helped us ensure we had the right equipment or organise hire for the bits we didn't have. On arrival we were picked up at the airport and taken to Planet Lodge, which was a really welcoming place to stay, before meeting our guide Leo. Over the next 8 days Leo, Julius (our assistant guide) and James, our chef, were absolutely brilliant. The porters did a great job in getting our camps set up for us each day, the food was fantastic and everything we needed was dealt with leaving us to just focus on getting to the summit!
Following the climb we went on safari and our guide January was welcoming, knowledgeable and took us to some beautiful locations to see some incredible wildlife. All of the accommodation was top quality, with great food and locations, perfect for relaxing after the climb!
I can't recommend them enough and we're already thinking about coming back to climb Meru, go on safari in the Serengeti and visit Zanzibar!

One of the things that appeals to me about this company, is that they state: "4 INCH THICK WATERPROOF FOAM MATTRESS" - first, I am hoping this isnt a typo, as other companies state 4 cm mattress. I don't tend to sleep that well when backpacking sleeping on a Thermarest brand pad... any comments how this compares to a thermarest?

HI I know this is really late and I am so sorry I didn't see your question earlier but I just want to let you know that they are in fact 4inch mattresses and it is not a typo. It's the most comfortable sleep you can get on the mountain.

Day 1: Arrive in Arusha
You’ll arrive in Arusha and have an overnight at Impala hotel in Arusha is a safari city which is located under Mount Meru in the northern part of Tanzania. Arusha is inhabited by Meru, Maasai, Waarusha, and Barabaig people.
Arusha is cool, sunny, and fantastic with daily climate variability. Arusha is surrounded by national parks from both sides. In Arusha, people grow coffee (Arabic coffee), bananas, maize, avocado, beans, green vegetables, and more. You will be warmly welcomed in Arusha.
Day 2: Arusha to Serengeti National Park
Early in the morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha and depart with en-route game watching to Serengeti via Nabi Hill Gate where your driver guide make confirmation of fees while you enjoy your lunch box.
You’ll arrive in Serengeti in the afternoon time where you’ll enjoy your afternoon game drive in the heart of Serengeti National Park. You will able to see lions, lioness, giraffe, impala, Thomson’s gazelles, cheetah, zebra, and wildebeest in plenty. At sunset, approach your already-prepared Mbugani Tented camp dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater
Serengeti is fantastic especially in the morning time when predators coming back from hunts. Do you know how animals behave in the morning? If you are lucky, today, you’ll witness hippopotamus returning into the water after whole night striving for food, leopard hanging a Thomson’s gazelle prey up to the tree, cheetahs chasing troops of impala on target for food, elephants massaging their body on the tree, and more.
When in season, witness the part of wildebeest migration and bird life. After lunch, you’ll depart with en-route game drive in the endless plains dotted with rocky hills and the home of predators with your open roof Land Cruiser with your camera at hand. You’ll arrive in Ngorongoro Crater at sunset for hot shower, dinner, and overnight at Ngorongoro farm house
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
After breakfast, you’ll drive to Ngorongoro Crater and descend to the crater floor for a game drive. In the afternoon, you’ll ascend to the rim and depart for Arusha. Ngorongoro Crater is an oasis for wildlife habitation. In Ngorongoro, you’ll see the volcanic caldera which is the world's largest, full of grassland, forest and swamp, a setting of jaw-dropping beauty.
The permanent water of the crater floor supports a resident population of more than 24,900 large mammals including elephants, lions, leopards, hyenas, jackals, wallowing hippos, waterbucks, baboons, and even the rare black rhinos. Sharing this empathetic spaces with the wildlife are the Maasai people, grazing their cattle in an area which has been a separate conservation area.
This harmonious cohabitation of man and beast makes Ngorongoro unique in the world and your driver guide will be pleased to explain this incredible co-existence to you. After your morning game drive, you’ll have your picnic lunch in the crater before you return to Arusha. Your dinner and overnight will be at Impala hotel.
Day 5: Great farewell
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the place of your departure.Caracal Adventures Ltd team is looking forward to meeting you again along with your friends and family as you recommend this safari. Good luck!

My sister and I basically told Majestic Kilimanjaro what we wanted to do and see and they arranged everything. We had a safari guide to ourselves and we did Tarangire NP, 3 days in the Serengeti, 1 day in Ngorongora Crater, and 1 day in Lake Manyara. Majestic arranged everything in regards to where we stayed each night as well. I know they can also arrange the balloon rides as well, we actually saw them in the park. The other magnificent part of this company is that they only use locals and some of their proceeds go to a local orphanage.

Hi, I am dreaming of doing the Kilimanjaro-Tour with my quite sportive 11 y old son in July 2016.
We have lived in the South African highveld (1800 m) for the last 4 years and will hopefully adapt easier to hight because of that.
However, we would hate to slow down other fellow hikers or being a burden to them, so please advise what would be the easiest trek to use, and if the tour would be feasible and acceptable for a 11 y old boy at all. Thanks so much!

Hi Ihno, The youngest person our Company has taken on Mount Kilimanjaro was 9 years old. This is permissible as long as you or another family member is present on the climb.
You and your son would not slow down other climbing members. We use at least two guides on all our climbs, and the slowest member of the climb would set the pace of the climb. When climbing Kilimanjaro, the best way to acclimatise is trek slowly. We would probably need to slow your son down. I would not be concerned at all. A sporty boy should be able to summit without trouble.
If you are concerned about the climb, I would recommend that you look at the Rongai route. This route is not a step as some of the other routes, and it also avoids the Barranco Wall, where you have to scramble up rocks for part of the day. All the best for this great adventure.
