Es la visita a un cementerio de personas que trabajaron para construir las vias del tren de un trayecto de 400 km en tiempo record de un año y unos meses. Impresionante, puede ser, pero no tiene mayor importancia y hay obras realizadas en otras partes del mundo con mayor sacrificio y más impresionantes que esto. El cementerio está impecable, super bien cuidado, per nada más.

ขับรถจักรยายนต์ผ่านไม่ได้เดินเข้าไปด้านในบริเวณสุสาน แต่บรรยากาศร่มเย็นมาก แม้แดดจะร้อนแต่อากาศเย็นสบายดี

Many reviewers have confused this war cemetery with the larger Kanchanaburi War Cemetery in the center of Kanchanaburi. The Chong Kai Allied War Cemetery is across the river from the main part of Kanchanaburi city. It has many fewer graves than the Kanchanaburi cemetery, with about 1400 Commonwealth soldiers and 300-400 Dutch soldiers interred. The site of the Chong Kai cemetery was actually a camp for workers on the Death Railway and a location where POWs had established a hospital and church. Many of the soldiers buried in this cemetery had been treated at the POW hospital on site. The cemetery is beautifully maintained and very peaceful.

カンチャナブリー市街地の目抜き通り沿いにある連合軍兵士の共同墓地。第二次大戦中に戦死された兵士個々の氏名、戦没日、年齢（若くして亡くなられた方が多い）を記した墓標をつぶさに眺めるに戦争の無益さを改めて考えさせられる。

I have been researching and trying to keep alive the memory of the US POWs who worked the TBR. They comprised less than 1% of the total Allied POWs so they are easily overlooked.
Although all the US POW remains were repatriated to their families by 1948, ChungKai holds a special place for them. In early 1945, as the Allied bombing raids on the TBR intensified, the famous bridges over the "River Kwai" (actually the Mae Klong river but that's another story), the US POWs were moved the main camp near the bridge over to ChungKai.
Many were liberated from there in SEP-OCT 1945!

I am glad that we visited this place as it was a solemn reminder of the evils of war; reading the plaques dedicated by families, far away, in memory of their lost young sons.

Na het museum over de begraafplaats gelopen. Mooie strakke begraafplaats welke heel goed onderhouden is.
Ik vond het heel indrukwekkend.
In het museum is ook een winkeltje met souvenirs. Het lijkt niet duur maar in de winkel ernaast betaal; je minder dan de helft en dan voel je je toch genept.

What tour would we need to book to make sure we visit Chungkai war cemetery ? My Grandfather is buried there so we want to visit there as well as the fall and death railway and museums .

What you have stated is easily done in a day, but better done in two and with an overnight stay. Then you would have time to ride the train on the railway and spend time at Erawan Waterfalls, otherwise you will just be rushing from one spot to the next.

Hi, yes as you walk through the entrance arch there is a small cupboard on your left, there is a book with a list of names and grave sites in it.
