Accolades to our amazing guides Alpha Omega and Eustice!! These two are amazing gentlemen. They made the whole Devil’s Pool experience for my daughter and myself, one of the best things we’ve done in our lives! I was quite nervous initially but our guides were amazing. They were completely calming, encouraging, attentive and helpful! I ( we) felt completely safe in their capable hands!

Words cannot describe the thrill of Devil's Pool. Given the professionalism of the entire team, did not feel unsafe for one second. Will hold this with me forever.

WOW- thrilling, terrifying, an absolute MUST DO! should be on everyone's bucket list. It was a phenomenal experience, you literally go to the edge. The guides were very professional and super generous with their time - taking millions of photos. It really was incredible. hard to put into words but if you're thinking of going, just go
The food provided afterwards was delicious and of excellent quality. all round a fantastic day

Once in a lifetime...thrilling...terrifying.....bucket list tick. All of these things apply!
Honestly - I was a little nervous about this activity as it goes against all safe logic. As many other reviews on here, the guides do THE best job of making you feel safe, and holding on to your legs while you pose for the photos you see.
A few tips:
- Definitely bring water/reef shoes. You have to walk over a few rocks multiple times which are sharp in places so definitely makes it easier.
- Similarly, there are fish in the pool which give your feet quite a bite. Its not super painful but very unsettling when you are sitting literally on the ledge of a waterfall. The fish definitely ruined the experience a bit for us just because it was so unsettling. If you had shoes it would remove this problem.
- Towels are provided, don't worry about bringing your own.
- Definitely do the 7:30 tour as you catch the rainbow. As we were finishing up at 9:00am the rainbow was gone so do the earlier tour to get this.
Amazing experience!

My wife and I did this in October 2021, the best excursion ever! Super scary if you are not keen on heights (like myself) but the guides are excellent and guide you all the way to the edge. Truly an experience we will never forget! If you can, this is a must-do trip at the falls!

Great experience, professional guides. Felt safe at all times. Make sure to arrive on time or even ahead of your scheduled time, because they have a tight schedule and will not add the miss time you wasted by arriving late to your paid session unfortunately. Especially if you arrive in big groups. I was luckily to only be part of a small group of three in total. It was an amazing experience, felt a bit rushed to be honest, be either way its worth doing. I did the 9:00 am session which was perfect, as the rainbow arch is at the perfect angle during this time to show up in your photos.
The guides also take some great photos of you while in the pool.

My boyfriend and me had an awesome time in Devil's Pool and I wanted to share more about my experience, as I struggled to find detailed info myself.
For context:
- my boyfriend and me are not super adventurous nor super fit, we are not experienced swimmers nor climbers
- it is currently at the end of the dry season here in Zambia, so quite hot during the day (~35°C) but perfect low water and low currents in Devil's pool
- we went in Sept 21, it was still very quiet, so our group only consisted of 3 people. They can host up to 24 people per tour
There is one group operating the tours: Tongabezi safari. All tour operators book via them and so did our hostel. We booked the first tour of the day (7:30 am departure, $110 incl breakfast, back at 9am). I highly recommend taking the first tour, as this is when the sun is on the right side to see the full rainbow! Also, it is not hot yet. The water has a super nice temperature so don't be afraid of getting cold. We took a taxi to there and we met with the group of guides who gave us all required info before we went on a speed boat to Livingstone Island, right at the edge of the Vic Falls. We dropped off our bags in a secure locker, took a short tour around the island, saw Angel's pool on the other side which was dry at this point and then dropped our clothes + shoes at the point where we entered the river. You only have to wear swimming clothes, no water shoes or so required. Accessing the pool went super smooth. We went hand in hand, with a guide at the front and one at the back taking pictures with our phones. We walked a bit on the rocks and swam for like 1 min (slow pace, slow current) before reaching the rocks around the pool. All went step by step and after mentioning I was a bit afraid, the guide literally took me by the hand. We got super clear instructions on how to enter the Devil's pool and went in 1 by 1. The guide made sure we were all safe and the other guide did a full photoshoot. The way back was as easy as the way there. No crocs and hippos as they don't get as close to the edge. They give you a towel there and breakfast was also really nice!
Again, HIGHLY recommended activity as it gives such a thrill to swim through the Zambezi river and relax at the edge of the Vic Falls, look over the edge (if you dare, don't worry, the guide holds on to your feet) and see the water smashing down right next to you - really a once in a lifetime activity! And very safe because of the experienced and nice guides (thanks Kelvin and Felix)! Enjoy :)

Swimming above Victoria Falls with the spray in your face and perch on the edge of the Falls is a thrilling rush and yet such a surreal experience. Definitely one for the books!
Expensive but worth it, we had a lot of fun. We were lucky to do this end of January / beginning of February: almost no one around and the water level was high enough, we had plenty of time to swim, take pictures, etc.

We technically didn't go to Devil's Pool but another pool since the water level was too high. I believe it is called Rock Pool - same thing, but we didn't need to swim to it (which was great because my friend cannot swim).
FYI some background info: apparently for Devil's Pool or Angel's Pool, you pretty much need to swim across the entire river (as these two are kind of in the middle of the river by an island), which in the winter months is impossible without being dangerous, because the water level is too high. So during these months, some other pools are visited that are closer to the river bank. This is what we did. They don't necessarily tell you this when you purchase your tickets online. We knew ahead because we went with a local who knew how the reservations worked.
That said, we had an amazing experience. Being in the water like that was terrifying, to say the least, but definitely an experience we will never forget. We started with a walk to the water, then right to the pool. We had to walk through slippery rocks to get there, so non-slip water shoes recommended! The water was super strong, and with my 130 pounds it was tough to hold straight. The guides were definitely helping me not get washed away by the big waves! Inside the pool, we took a bunch of pictures, on rocks, in the deep water, various stuff. It was fun but scary. We went in May and the water was pretty chilly, not to mention windy outside.
After the main pool, the guides also walked me out to a different rock in the middle of the water that lets you sit on literally the edge - as I looked down the entire waterfall was at my feet. That was even more terrifying than being in the water itself (I guess I was still in it, but this was not a pool - this was just a rock right at the edge).
If you have fear of heights (I have a mild one), you may not be thrilled about this second experience.
Also just FYI - one of the guides actually slipped while trying to take pictures of the other guy that was in our group. Thankfully the other guide was there to grab him right away (what amazing reaction time!), but that could have gone south pretty quickly. It was very scary to see him slip like that - for a split second I really thought we were going to lose him... So the warnings of danger are legit! Please follow your guides' lead and do as they say. It's no joke.
After all these thrills, we walked back to a cute campsite on the island, and had an amazing lunch. Our chef made a stellar meal for us - both she and the meal were wonderful. I didn't expect such a delicious and beautiful looking meal.
Our guide, Felix and the crew were awesome too. For the company's record, we went on May 14 at 10:30 am - shout out to the entire crew who helped us! We had a great time. Thank you!
One more thing - I had one of the coolest bathroom experiences of my life during this visit :D Beautifully maintained and clean porta potties set right by the river with the best views you can imagine ;) I wish festival potties were like this in the States... lol

As a non-swimmer, is it possible to split in a same group and opt for Angel's Pool instead?
OR if I'm feeling like a daredevil, will I be fine if I just wore a lifejacket and go straight to Devil's Pool?
I was told by locals, that is currently no water at the Victoria falls. is it worthwhile to jump into the Devils Pool

Sorry for this late answer. We were also told so. We have no idea whether a dip in the pool is worth it then, neither whether it is still possible...
I'm going to Devil's pool in october. I can't swim very well and I'm scared to cross di the Zambesi River. How Deep Is the water? I have to swim or can i Walk in the River? Are there Ropes? Thanks!

Oh, you're going to be just fine. They have a section for the non-swimmers, a speedboat takes you close enough and you walk appx 3 mins. The great thing about the pool for non swimmers (which equally by the ledge) is you get great shots and videos since there are fewer people there! The water is really cold though, despite the sun and the beautiful rainbow. You're gonna love it!

I have been trying to book online but I can't because the website won't accept any of the phone numbers I've tried. I have tried numerous ones, including that of Tongabezi, along with the correct country code for each number I entered without success. I tried contacting both email addresses on the Tongabezi's website as well but nobody responded. Could someone please suggest a phone number that might work?

Hi Josu,
The best thing to do would be to email our team on livingstoneisland@tongabezi and they will help you make a booking. You would, however, have to make your own way to our launch site near the Falls since we don't do transfers. Our team will be very happy to give you all the information you need.
Best wishes,

Hi All
We have booked a Tongabezi Devil’s Pool tour. The company would like us to deposit the payment in a Zambia bank account. Is this a safe thing to do please?
Tongabezi
Livingstone, زامبيا11 مساهمة
Hi Cherie,
As long as you are booking through Tongabezi itself (via email I'm guessing at this point?) we can confirm that you are completely safe. There are a few scammers out there but they go under different names and don't link to our official website.
Unfortunately when the websites go down or there is an issue the only way to safely pay is in fact straight into the Livingstone Island bank account.
We hope you enjoy your experience of Life on the Edge!
Best wishes,

Hi, after the experience would you be able to stay in the park? Meaning is the cost of entry covered for the day so you can walk around the falls?

No, the devils' pool is in an island across. The cost of the park is separate. Remember that there is the Zambia part and the Zimbawee part. Each side charges to get into the park.
Hello team, we are planning to do game drive before devil's pool experience at 10:30am. What time do you have to arrive at the check-in point for 10:30am devil's pool activity?

I don't think it is open now. This is a High Water Season. It is usually safe to use from around mid-August to mid-January
