It was my first time there.
You can see the actual linear motor car, which is hard to see.
There are many other railway cars on display and it is quite a good place for railway lovers.
In particular, the first Doctor Yellow was on display and I had seen it only once as a child.
It felt nostalgic.
I also never got tired of SLs, current Shinkansen trains, and my favorite 500 series Shinkansen.
I was glad to go where I wanted to go at least once.

The lineup of steam locomotives is great, but I'm most passionate about the vehicles from 1945 to 1970.
The JNR 63 series electric train, JNR EF58 electric locomotive, JNR Kiha 80 series diesel railcar, JNR Kiha 181 series diesel railcar, and JNR 381 series electric train brought back the excitement I felt as a boy.
Thanks to you, I've been able to add some great iron to my collection.

This railway museum is slightly away from Nagoya central/station but accessible via Aonami line. We spent around an hour+ here touring the old trains to the current Shinkansen, playing with simulators and learning how the modern high-speed rails can travel at such fast speed. There are plenty of seats around so visitors can take their breather if required. Worth it if you could slot it into your itinerary!

SCMaglev and Railway park is located just outside of Nagoya. Using the Aonami Line from Nagoya station, it takes 30 mins to reach the park. The main focus of the park is more on the current and the future technology of the Japanese railways.
As the name suggests, you will see and learn a lot more about the SCMaglev (Super Conducting Magnetic Levitation) system that is currently being developed and tested. Lots of interactive exhibits that shows and lets the audience learn about how this system works, providing knowledge to educate the wider audience about this.
Also featured heavily in this park is the current high speed train, the Shinkansen, about the inner workings, the supporting system and how the network works. Especially impressive is how they managed to deduct the inner workings and explain it in a very easy and understandable way.
You can at least spend 2-3 hours in this place and learn a lot about the Japanese train system.

It's similar to the Railway Museum, but the difference is that it has a linear car.
And the first generation and the current one.
This alone was worth the trip.
It may be tough to spend a day there, but I think it's fun if you love the people you love.
I also quite enjoyed it.

Very easy to get to from the metro station. There are signs indicating the entrance to the museum.
Museum with a huge area and many trains and locomotives.
It has audio description in Portuguese. Just follow the instructions at the entrance to the museum.
Interesting to see the mechanical part of the thing.
There are some train simulators, but tickets for them run out early. Everything is scheduled.
Visit from 1 to 2 hours.
There is a restaurant with Japanese food and no menu in English. You have to choose based on the photos.

I think if you have time to kill, this is an option. I did learned a few things about the Shinkensen technology and history after the visit. However, the sad part is that the exhibit are mainly explained in Japanese so english speakers can only view the pictures and not much else. It would have been nice to provide english translation.

This is a must do in Nagoya, certainly a highlight of the trip. It caters to all ages and offers both English and Japanese information about each of the trains with a great gift shop.
I’d recommend at least 2 hours here, as there is plenty to see and learn, would be fantastic to see more on the MAGLEV side, although there is a seperate museum for that near Tokyo.

The Maglev Railway Museum located at Nagoya Kinjo Pier displays everything from the oldest steam trains to the latest maglev trains.
Here, you can also review the history of Japanese railway development, from old-style road trains to the highest-speed maglev trains.
Some trains are even open for viewing, including the famous Shinkansen "Nozomi". You may not have the opportunity to ride this Shinkansen when traveling to Japan, but if you have the opportunity to walk on the display train to visit and take photos, it is still worth a visit.
In addition to passenger trains, the trains on display also include engineering vehicles and engine models. If you want to take a closer look, definitely set aside two to three hours.
In addition, I would like to mention that with a same-day ticket, you can enter again on the same day. There is also a restaurant on the second floor, so when planning your itinerary, if you don’t have enough time in the morning, you can go to the mall outside for lunch first and then come back. Or you can go to the second floor to have lunch and take a break before continuing your trip.
If you have children with you, there is a large game and exhibition area on the second floor. Many parents will take them to the second floor to play slowly.
I went there with my parents and husband, and we all enjoyed our time there. This maglev museum is a great attraction for both adults and children.

新幹線のシュミレータはお昼過ぎの時間が購入できました。

Can you leave your luggage anywhere here
كُتب بتاريخ 30 سبتمبر 2018
Yes, the office will let you do so. Although since it Is Japan you could just leave it outside and it would still be there when you returned.

Is there much to see here? How much time do people usually spend ?
كُتب بتاريخ 23 مايو 2018
We spent more than 2 hours. There are a lot of trains, exhibits to read, and videos. There is a cafeteria to eat lunch.
كُتب بتاريخ 23 مايو 2018
I really do not know, but the day I was there few visitors were there and there was a lot of space in the foyer. Given security issues everywhere, I would suggest you enquire ahead. I believe there are luggage lockers at the main railway station in Nagoya, but I saw nothing here or at the local railway station (end station on the Aonami line).
كُتب بتاريخ 16 مايو 2018
The park has no facilities for luggage. I suggest you store your bags at Nagoya Station.
